Richard Nixon was President when I joined NCR, there probably isn't anything less relevant to my decision to vote for a union than who was chief executive of the U.S. If you're only planning to work for NCR for the next four or eight years then it might make some difference to you but if you want a future with this company then a union makes a lot of sense.

Anonymous said...

I agree totaly with above
ask all your coworkers about there previous union vote

ask them given all that is taken away since that vote has it changed there decision about ow thet would vote

if not ask them did theteamsters get there pay raises this year

answer is yes They have a contract

Anonymous said...

guess he hasn't figured it out yet.... only idiots use more than one exclamation point at a time. each additional exclamation point is directly proportional to the lack of intelligence of the writer.

Anonymous said...

Just vote for a union already.. Let join the Teamsters

Anonymous said...

For nearly 35 years we've been Teamsters in NYC/North Jersey. There have been many times that other areas have expressed interest in organizing with us and every time NCR has convinced enough folks that they didn't need a union. It takes a great deal of effort as well as money to run an organizing campaign and frankly, The Teamsters have nothing to show for all work we've put into helping you other areas get organized. You have a chance at organizing a union coming up, if you want it, get off your ass and get it done. If you don't have the stomach for it just admit it and stop wasting everyone's time.

It would take 1000's of investigators to uncover all of the crimes Barry Soetoro AKA Barrack Hussien Obama has comitted.

Anonymous said...

I still want to be a Teamster!

Anonymous said...

you can be a teamster when you grow up and become ignorant. until then you're less than ignorant, you're just a ce. but at least you're not paying some unionnnn dues so they can pretend to have your best interests at heart. yeah, right. they only want your cash each month.

Anonymous said...

to the guy above. Why are you so dead set against the union. The union has some drawbacks but the benefits outweigh them. Not being in the union has screwed us royally! And by us not being in the same Teamsters union, it has put that union in a bad position to negoitate a better contract. They didnt have enough leverage. They still got a contract, they are still getting a 6000 dollar raise in july and they will be getting a bonus. We are getting nothing! Lets not forget they are treated better by management.

And as far as the union guys being ignorant is a bunch of bull. It seems like you are the biggest ignoramous on this blog! if youre man enough to discuss this in person, please give me a way of contacting you offline and we can battle it out. but i doubt you have the balls to do so! You DickHead You!

Received the following E-Mail from Chris Cheadle?? a few minutes ago. If you click on the links while off the NCR network you can watch the video.

Hi, We all know the economy is in trouble and the middle class is suffering. But I have some hope that we’re about to see some change on the way.

I just saw this new ad that says we can build an economy that works for everyone, and I couldn’t agree more:

http://freechoiceact.org/HopeAndChange

With President-elect Obama and a new Congress, we have a great chance to pass legislation that would make it easier for workers to join a union and bargain for better pay, health benefits and job security.

Check out the ad and join me in supporting an economy that works for everyone by signing the petition:

http://freechoiceact.org/HopeAndChange

Also check out http://ncrworkers.blogspot.com

Thanks!

If the IBEW wants us to trust them whey do they continually send e-mails claiming to be from NCR upper management when they obviously are not. I highly doubt that Chris Cheadle uses a g-mail account. Let's think people. Are these guys any more trustworthy than the people we work for?

Anonymous said...

It's not the IBEW sending out the Emails, it's a former CE that's pissed off at NCR. Yes I got out.

how can anyone who resorts to language like this hold an intelligent conversation? the answer, of course, is you cannot. if you really feel you want a unionnnn then you must be a sheep, a follower, and you need a union to help you through life. by the way, if you keep talking about the teamsters you won't have this little corner of the world anymore where you can speak your minds(?). the ibew boys will get upset and shut it down.

A union doesn't help anyone through life. A union does help it's members stand up to incompetent managers or those on a power trip. A union does help it's members achieve and maintain a living wage. A union does help it's members keep their jobs when a company decides it's older employees have out lived their usefulness. A union doesn't expect it's members to risk their health and safety to get a job done. A union doesn't request it's members work without pay. A union promotes respect and brotherhood among it's members. If your job is your life you might have an odd point of view regarding union membership but that has more to do with you than with the union, Teamsters or IBEW.

NCR is sinking.”

Pros

It pays more than unemployment. It can be a decent first job in the industry. Just get out ASAP. NCR used to be a good company to get training. Not any longer.
Cons

Constant layoffs while NCR buys $50 million dollar airplanes for senior management (2 years ago) and pays Nuti $16.8 million (last year). Promotions and RIF's are based on popularity with management not job ability. If you're around for long you'll be RIF'ed for a younger cheaper employee. Pressure is placed on partners to move jobs down to Mexico to reduce cost. No concern for quality it's all about cost to NCR.
Advice to Senior Management

My advice would be to replace the current senior management.

There seems to be only one person on this blog that still doesn't think a union would improve working conditions and pay for CEs at NCR. He thinks he's very smart and the rest of us are morons. He says things are as good as they're going to get at NCR and we are stupid to think that we can make things better by organizing into a union. I know that nearly all of the managers at NCR share his opinions or perhaps gave them to him. He wouldn't follow one person to a union meeting because he couldn't understand the man's point. I wouldn't follow him because I doubt he'd ever get to the meeting. (if I follow his logic) As for the rest of you don't follow anyone, get yourself to that meeting, ask your own questions, voice your own opinions and make up your own mind.

Anonymous said...

he doesn't get the point either. if you go to the unionnnn meeting that means you are a follower, someone unable to do or think for yourself, someone who needs help getting through this mean old world in which we live. you really don't think there is anyone strong of mind and strong in character singing the union theme song, do you? no, of course not. they're all sitting in their seats waiting for someone else to tell them what to do. breathlessly waiting for someone on stage to lead you to slaughter is, in my opinion, less than smart. that guy on stage is only thinking of strengthening his own position within the unionnnn, he'll gladly lead you out on strike. and make no mistake about it, ncr would love for you to unionnnnize and go out on strike. that woulsd be the quickest and easiest way to get rid of the lot of you. and you're wrong, you're not irreplaceable. most of what you do is monkey work and you know it. customers, especially now, would love lower maintenance bills and if they thought about it at all they could perform most of their own repairs. independant contract repair companies can handle the remainder. yeah, get your butt to that meeting and sign that card. ncr can't wait. you disappointed them last time.

Anonymous said...

NCR sucks!

Anonymous said...

I've been in the Teamsters Union for nearly all my career at NCR, I never knew we had a theme song. I've been to countless meetings and have never been led anywhere. I've talked and listened, I've waited but never breathlessly, I've voted and didn't always win. I've never been on strike, NCR was awfully lucky we didn't go out last July. The 300 scabs they had in place could not have replaced the 200 of us. If ignorance is bliss the author of the earlier message must be a very happy fellow indeed.

Anonymous said...

Follow Nuti, he will lead you to poverty!

Anonymous said...

I think maybe 100 scabs could replace the 200 if they are all like you. If the rest of us wanted a union the votes would have proved it. I think maybe there are more people that are happy with their job than want a union

Anonymous said...

If you're not PRO UNION get the Hell off this site you company scumbag. Why don't you go Blow Nuti & Cheadle, I'm sure you'd enjoy it. Better yet, stick a pistol in your mouth and blow your brains out you piece of Shit!

Anonymous said...

You have to ask yourself why this anti union moron spends all his time on this site? I come her about once a week, but he is on here every day. What is his real motivation ?

Anonymous said...

I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it again. My Father is a Retired Vice President for a well known Food Company. Back in September 2000 when NCR had the early out his comment to me was "They're FUC-ING YOU, you need a UNION, in a few more years they'll be pushng you out the door". I almost killed myself and worked over 800 hours of overtime the next year until the New Hires got up to speed. Then last year, BINGO, just like Dad said they cut our pay and are pushing us out.

DON'T BE STUBORN & STUPID, VOTE YES FOR THE IBEW.

Anonymous said...

The only CE's happy with their jobs, are the very poor quality new hires the company is hiring. They are only qualified to be a door greeter at WalMart, but NCR hires them as CE's, and the real NCR CE's have to cover for them. We are tired of this, and won't do it anymore. NCR must return to fair pay for CE's!

Anonymous said...

So do something about it! Talk is cheap, be a leader and get a union voted in.

Anonymous said...

We voted on it last summer and due to a bunch of WIMPS we lost. We have to wait 1 year and then we can have another vote this coming July. Of course Union Cards will have to be sent out first and we'll need 70% of the CE's to send them in, just like last year. And NCR will be right there fighting it, telling us lies and promise's they'll break all over again.

Anonymous said...

There may be a difference this year, many of the promises NCR made were broken. The Teamsters have it in writing and they will get their raises on July 1. It will be difficult for NCR to tell you otherwise when the proof is right before your eyes. If you want a decent future with NCR you can have it with a union.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, Malcolm Collins resigned from his position with NCR Limited (the "Company"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCR Corporation, as Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing. In connection with the resignation, the Company, its affiliates, and Mr. Collins entered into a confidential Compromise Agreement on January 27, 2009. The material terms of such agreement, which is based on U.K. law and standard practices in the U.K. where Mr. Collins resides, provide: (i) Mr. Collins will remain employed by the Company until February 28, 2009 (the "Termination Date"), and will be available as-needed from February 1, 2009 through March 31, 2009, to assist with transitioning his duties; (ii) within ten days of the Termination Date, the Company will pay Mr. Collins the amount of 123,133, which represents three months of base salary and three months of the pro-rated 2009 target bonus under the Company's Management Incentive Plan; (iii) within twenty-eight days of the Termination Date, the Company will pay to Mr. Collins the sum of 169,675 for loss of employment, 173,762, for the amount Mr. Collins would have earned in 2008 based on actual performance under the Company's Management Incentive Plan, and 30,000 for Mr. Collin's agreement to certain confidentiality and post-termination restrictions; (iv) if Mr. Collins were to breach the terms of such confidentiality and post-termination restrictions, Mr. Collins would be required to repay to the Company the amount representing payment for loss of employment; and (v) the Company will provide private medical insurance benefits to Mr. Collins and his dependents for a period of up to one year.

HOW CAN YOU BLAME THE AUTO INDUSTRY MESS ON THE UNION. YOU ARE SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY!! iTS ABOUT CORPORATE GREED AND POOR MANAGEMENT SKILLS. THE AVERAGE CAR WORKER MAKES BETWEEN 28 AND 38 DOLLARS AN HOUR AFTER THEY PAY ALL, AND WHEN I SAY "ALL" I MEAN ALL OF THEIR BENEFITS. THAT NUMBER YOU HEAR ON T.V. IS NOTHING BUT A PLOY TO YOU SIDE WITH THE MANUFACTERS. AND I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT. BOTH MY FATHER AND BROTHER ARE AUTO WORKERS.

Anonymous said...

Do not blame the workers or Union pull down the auto indurtry. The difference of pay including all benifits between Big Three workers and the workers for foreign/Japaness car makers IN USA is insignificant small. It is the stupid managerment who made wrong decision and did not make the cars makes sense.
Here is a Practical joke:
Q:Why Japaness cars are better than American cars??
A:Because Japaness cars are made in USA by American workers and most American cars(parts) are made in Mexico.

NCR may try to scare you by hinting they would sell off Customer Service if you vote a union in. Wasn't it just the opposite in Canada. Customer Service is the most profitable division of NCR, a union would improve marale, higher morale means higher profits. Not that it couldn't happen but if NCR upper management saw a benefit in selling off Customer Services they probably would've alresdy done it. Don't be afraid to vote for a better future, you've already seen what happens when you don't. Their empty promises won't feed your family. Their ideas for improving your working conditions are shockingly different from yours. Voting a union in is the right thing to do. Don't let fear stop you this time.

Anonymous said...

no, don't let fear stop you, let good old common sense do it. automatic raises every year (brought about by the unionnnnn) has to bear a large part of the blame for the mess our economy is in. automatic raises meant automatic increases in the price of everything produced by unionnnn labor. then, of course, other products followed suit to keep up with the increased cash out there. add to that the greed of everybody and every company and you're right where we are today. back when there weren't any automatic raises this economy and this country were strong. not any more, thanks in a large part to the unionnnn. if you think the unionnnn is the answer then you deserve the pity of the intelligent.

Lets face it guys, This guy above is like a bad rash. you just cant get rid of him..

as far as he is concerned he is right, and will always be right. We will always be wrong. Lets not waste anymore time on him and be done wih him.

Anonymous said...

It is so stupid to believe anyone would agree with this nonsense:
" automatic raises every year (brought about by the unionnnnn) has to bear a large part of the blame for the mess our economy is in."
Can you bring up anything make sense? I doubt it.
There were about 30% of workers that were unionized 20-30 years ago, and it is only about 10% of all American worker are in Union currently. By your stupid reasoning, American should have a great ecnomic situation now for Union is dying.
And, you are definitely not a WORKER. No worker would not think a raise. It is not because we are greedy. A cup of coffee only cost a nicle 30 years ago. It is now $ 1.50. Workers even managers need salary increase to match the riase of the living cost.
Comparing what we get pay now , we are actually paid as the same level 10 or 15 years ago.
NCR claims it is MARKET that forces it to do whatever it needs to survive. True or not it is very difficult for us to argue to.
BUT PLEASE STOPUSING FALSE AND STUPID REASONINGS TO BELIEVE WE WILL GONNA TO BUY YOUR NOSENSES. WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO FIGHT BACK- IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN, BUT WE ARE NOT STUPID AS YOU ARE.

Anonymous said...

well if you are that concerned about the raise issue have it wriiten into the contract that it is performance based but a min and a max also are required
I personaly dont want to work my ass off all year to find out i am going to be kicked in the balls come the 1st of the year then 2 weeks later that it should feel good by management

Anonymous said...

Merit pay would be great if was truly based on merit. All too often sycophants and toadies get the plum assignments and the better raises. Slackers get by if the manager likes them. Those people exist in union branches too but they don't fare as well in that environment. We do our jobs and we expect to be paid. NCR sends you out to do a job and they expect to be paid, why shouldn't you? The stories of guys working on their days off are absolutely absurd. When we donate our time it should be to a worthy charity, not a multi-national corporation. If you're doing the work of a CE3 you should be paid like one and a union is your best hope to make that happen.

Anonymous said...

The pay scale at NCR is totally screwed. We have newhires making a dollar an hr less than ex CE4's with over 30 years experience, and mulitiple certifications.

As galling as he is, the person who always spells "unionnnnn" this way is right about one thing - the grammar, spelling, and composition of most posts is downright embarassing to the union cause. Granted , many folks are foreign-born and English is not their first language....they are still learning it...but even so, it is disgraceful. How can you expect to be taken seriously if you come across as an illiterate? It's really none of my business....I am an outsider...but get yourself a good spokesman!!!!! As far as unions ruining the economy, history has a good lesson here. Not all that long ago, a modern industrialized nation's economy was in ruins and there was a depression on. The man who came to power by appealing to people's pride did one thing immediately: he outlawed, then disbanded ALL UNIONS and TRADE ORGANIZATIONS. He then imprisoned and murdered all labor leaders. He was right: very shortly the economy was booming and prosperity was back on a grand scale....as long as everything you did, said,or consumed was approved by the state. Unfortunately, it got out of hand...and in only 12 short years the country was again in ruins - this time physically. The leader's name was Adolf Hitler, and the nation was Nazi Germany. After this debacle, Germany was split. Half became Communist, and under the guise of a "workers paradise" lived in state-controlled poverty. The other half lived in a newly-developed Democracy...which included widespread unionism. Their Economic Rebirth is still a world record, and Unionism is widespread there to this day. Funny thing is, after Japan's murderous period in World War II, the people were introduced to Western-style Democratic ways by Douglas MacArthur....including such unheard of things as "voting", "rights for women", and (gasp!)...UNIONS...!!!!! Oddly enough, their economy started booming, too. Lastly...to our friend who spells it "unionnnn": you are quite literate. Now, if you would only learn to begin your sentences with a capital letter....you would be a PERFECT asshole.

Hello again, outsider here....ref the reply from our friend concerning all the exclamation points that poster used: I don't agree he was showing the depth of his ignorance, rather he was just underscoring his exasperation at having to share the planet with a self-righteous little Lick-spittle the likes of which one would not expect to encounter outside of an American TV Sitcom. By the way, referencing the date and time of your comment has shed some further light on the fact that most of your posts seem to occur during "working hours"....a further indictment of your character! Well, it's been fun..but have to move on now. Cheerio, and good luck lads...hope you find a spokesman worthy of your cause....

Can someone tell me why the company is placing GPS tracking in business use only van and in not personal use vans?

Anonymous said...

It must be illegle to track people when they are paying for the personal use of the vehicle, or they would surely put them in those vans too. Kind of makes you wonder where the cost of these things are coming from, when the company is spending like there is no economy problems until it comes to treating employees fairly. Doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

NCR must REALLY TRUST their employees. What a shame!

Anonymous said...

i say everyone put them on city buses realy mess with ncr's mind lol

Anonymous said...

Regarding the "not put GPS on personal usgage van". NCR will be sued for violating the employees' privacy if they are able to track down employees' off duty activities. But only few areas are now have this "personal usage of the van". NY and NJ have it. and they HAVE UNION TOO. INTERESTING??
As I know NCR did put GPS to all the VANs in NY and NJ, and told the CEs there that there is a switch on the GPS which can turn off the GPS. So, the CEs who have personal usage of the van can turn the GPS off when "IN LUNCH BREAK AND OFF DUTY".But it came out to be not true/ big LIE. The GPS still can track the van even that switch was turn off.It created a whole mess.
NCR eventually pull out all the GPS from every van in NY and NJ, and other area as well-for other reasons??.
NCR WILL put a GPS on every vans in NY and NJ eventually. It will not leave any area become exceptional, but this time the special switch on GPS will be no doubt able to trun off GPS.

One theory I heard why NCR wants to put GPS is to outsource Control Tower to India. People out there will no need to know any USA city and are still able to "Dispatch Calls". Take this scenario: A call from a Department store in Dayton,OH. just in. The Indian girl thousand miles away just needs click her computer screen to find out who is near by that area. Then CE John Dole who happens to be in 5 miles away from the store will get the call in next minute.
Cutting the cost becomes every American corps'chief goal. It will generate more profits and then pumps up the stock price higher and higher. Then those CEOs will cash in their stock option big time. And meanwhile we, the worker, are either loose the jobs or getting less and less pay.It is American way.

Anonymous said...

Why not ask your manager why the GPS units aren't installed on personal use vehicles? While you're at it ask if Control Tower will be outsourced to India. The answer isn't important, it probably won't even be true. Management needs to know that you are interrested in and asking about their decisions.

The basic function of GPS is to track down CE. NCR official statement of the reason to install GPS is "TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY". To outsourcing Control Tower to another country is just a possible next step.
It is a common sense that no one has the right to track your private life. NCR agrees to give CE the personal usage of vehicle -CE has to pay for it, then NCR CAN NOT or has no right to track the vehicle when CE is not on duty.It is the reason NCR has to install a GPS with the device that can disable itself to vehicle that CE has personal usage.
But the bottom line is the "INCREASE OF PRODUCTIVITY" will never happen. NCR thinks " you can run but you can't hide,so you have to run more calls".
What happened last time when we had GPS in my area was most guys just spent more time on each call.I know lots of good guys used to run more calls than expeected became slow. So, the total output of calls was decreased not increased. Sure nobody would be at the place he should not be. But the Van would just stay at customers sites longer than before and the number of closed calls everyday just became less not MORE.
Another thing the guy in NY/NJ told me that in their area CE who has/pay the personal usage of company van " CAN TURN THE GPS OFF ONE SECOND AFTER HIS SHIFT ENDS AND ALSO HAS THE RIGHT TO TURN OFF THE GPS WHEN HE TAKES HIS LUNCH BREAK ACCORDING TO THIER UNION CONTRAC".
Union or not seems pretty clear to me.

In NY/NJ (union) area the CE may provide his own vehicle. NCR reimburses per mile and other expenses for business use.

Want to have some fun and beat the crap out of Bush who got us in this mess? Go to http://www.aksalser.com/game.htm

I scored a 14, good luck!

Anonymous said...

CEOs like the Nutjob and Democrats also got us into this mess.

Democrats did it by forcing banks to lend money to people who can't afford to pay them back. Also Clinton with NAFTA. And by promoting an abortion agenda which killed about 50 million consumers, who would be buying houses and products today.

CEOs did it by sending all our work out of the country and cutting our pay.

Bush and the Republicans did it by encouraging these greedy CEO's to outsource our jobs. Also by allowing all this illegal immigration to bring down the price of labor. This is not a market place it’s a country.

We did it by letting these tyrants get away with it. Now we have welfare for the rich i.e. CEO bonuses with our tax money. Meantime, the regular guy is either working for nothing or laid off and losing everything he owns.

IT HAS STARTED!!! just heard.. my manager and former co-worker said to keep it under my hat. But I just can't. Hi,

I just signed an important petition to help get our country back on track, and I hope you’ll join me.

In today’s economy, folks like you and me need a fair deal and a chance to get ahead. It’s only getting worse for working families as the cost of everything from gas to groceries keeps going up.

That’s why I signed a petition supporting the Employee Free Choice Act, which would help level the playing field by making it easier for workers to join unions. The goal is one million signatures. Will you take a moment to sign, and pass this along? Go to:

http://www.freechoiceact.org/page/s/cwa?source=taf&subsource=efcasite

Some CEOs just go too far. They rake in millions while cutting back health benefits and raises for their employees. It’s time to bring back some balance in this economy. This bill would help all of us, by giving workers more muscle to raise living standards, improve health care, and stop outsourcing.

We’re all in this together. Help us get to one million signatures! It just takes one minute – be sure to upload your picture, too!

Most of these CEs have no balls and are afraid to organize a union. I think it’s a sign of the times. The girl CEs have more balls then the guys.

Read some actual quotes we heard when we tried to organize. I will translate what they really mean:

1) "The union will do nothing"
Translation - I don't have a brain in my fucking head.

2) "Nuti and Cheadle are right; we need to have our pay cut to save the company."
Translation - I have no dick, I squat when I piss, I'm worthless and good thing I have no dick because my kids would kick my pathetic ass.

3) "God is my union"
Translation - Let me blame my cowardly ass on God. If Christianity becomes illegal again I will be the first to say the state is my union. Jesus who?

4) "I'm afraid I'll get fired"
Translation - I really should be working at Burger King because I'm one dumb mother fucker.

5) "Let me see what everyone else does before I send my card in."
Translation - I was always the last one picked when I was a kid when picking sides in sports because I was a fucking loser. Why change now?

6) "The union is never going to happen".
Translation - I never got in a fight in my life. Good thing I was never in combat because I would have been shot for running away. I still eat pamblem for breakfast.

7) "The company will outsource us if we get a union."
Translation - I was a Mamma’s boy and still am. Except now I'm also pussy whipped. I live at Mommy's house with my wife and kids. After I've worked 120 hours they make me do all the house work while my kids laugh and curse at me. I'm glad they cut my pay this way I can work even more over time. I hate going home.

Anonymous said...

Wait I forgot one of the best quotes. Mr. Asshole "unionnnnnn" guy just reminded me of it.

"Unions are run by the Mafia and I don't want my union dues going to finance organized crime."
Translation - I'm such a stupid Hillbilly I learned this by watching Godfather 1 and 2, (3 doesn't count that’s where I learned about the Catholic Church.) Meanwhile, I'll totally ignore the fact that Bill Nuti cut my pay and then gave himself an 8 million dollar raise.

Monday morning there will be a meeting in Woburn, Mass Monaday afternoon another meeting in Sturbridge, Mass and one in Rochester, NY on Tuesday. I'm sure the object will be to "Deliver the Promise", Cheadle's Political Bullshit slogan & downplay Union organizing. Just remember they'll break their promise's as always. They are a bunch of Clowns!

NCR stock down to 9 dollars a share, that CE3 pay cut really promoted growth. The only thing that grew was Nutjob's pay by millions, what an asshole.

Let’s get this union in.

Anonymous said...

Well the dog & pony show is back on the road, soon you're going to hear how the union wants to take your money and run your life and wreck your job and mess up your relationship with your manager and just ruin everything for everybody.
Are you going to buy that again? Are you safer out there, working past exhaustion, not calling for a guard to save NCR some money? Got less stress at work and at home? Did NCR listen to you last year and then make the improvements you hoped they would? Why do you think they want to listen to you and not the folks in NY/NJ? How come NY/NJ aren't invited to participate in the conference calls? Don't get stuck on stupid, send in a card and vote yes for the union.

$8.45 a share and counting down to zero.

Nuti should outsource his job to India. One of those $3.00 an hour NCR India people can do a lot better job for less.

don't you understand what a class action lawsuit is all about? it's all about making money for attorneys. the attorney charges for his time not once but times the number of clients in on the class action. in the end, if there is an award, you get $1.96 and the attorney takes $1,960,000.00 because you all get to pay him equally. only idiots get in on class action law suits. ohhhh, wait a minute, I forgot who I was talking to. sorry about that!

Anonymous said...

This guy is a genius on everything.

Anonymous said...

obviously this guys knows nothing about class action lawsuits.. the lawyer gets a percentage of the TOTAL amount won. if he loses he gets $0! and btw-the lawyers and ncr met a couple weeks ago. nothing resolved yet. ncr is looking at up to 15 million on compensation for time worked off the clock although the final amount will probably be less. they had to turn over all rim and timecard info. if it makes it better for future ce's i don't care if i get a dime. just quit screwing the ce's anymore.

I joined the Class Action Suit and could care less if I get a dime, it's all about the principle!

Check out this website glassdoor.com - that people write in reviews of the company they work for and tell their salary. It is all anonymous. The idea being is that salaries/pay should be known-- and everyone should be paid a fair rate of pay for thier work. The site is free. In order to access the reviews you have to send in a review. Then you can read other people's whole review. If it becomes public knowledge what people are being paid and how they are being treated = new employees may or may not show up to work at the company. Pros

Salary is not too bad to start but....after that raises are 1-2% per year, bonus rarely paid. Grunt workers are hard working and great to work with mostly. Management spend 99% covering their behinds and pointing fingers at other departments. BE AWARE AND STAY AWAY!!
Cons

As others have said, promotions are based on who you know and who is "in" at any given time.
Logistics systems are ancient and ineffective but then the PEOPLE are blamed for poor results, not the systems. All Logistics Managers are let go yearly as a new crop comes in, with their friends. The latest bunch (late 2008) have no background in Logistics! they figured that would work!! Has gotten progressively worse over the last years and bound to get even worse. And yes, Managers must rate 20% of their staff as "needs improvement" so beware, 20% are purposely set up to fail.
Advice to Senior Management

You know, maybe improvements could be made if Managers are hired due to their knowledge and competency rather than your buddies who get shuffled from department to department, protected by you.

It amazing that they have 12 million to settle a lawsuit, makes you wonder if they hadn't screwed everyone in the first place if the lawsuit would have been filed at all. Probably would have cost less to leave our pay, retirement, 401k, benefits, etc., etc. alone, but of course, they admit no wrong doing, who would think that Nuti, Cheatle and company would ever admit that they made a mistake. I bet the FOD of that area gets moved to another position soon, maybe Siberia if they are lucky. Either way, I hope We get a nationwide vote on a union this time and it gets in, good or bad, at least we will know for the term of the contract what to expect and stop wondering what they are going to come up with next to screw things up even worse. NCR has hit a new low, and it keeps getting worse.

mr. unionn--obviously you don't keep up on things or know what you are talking about. there is a 12 million dollar settlement. all the ce's have to do is opt in to receive their payments. it is all settled. probably will be approx. 4-6 months before payments are made. ncr was looking at approx. a 50 milllion dollar lawsit if they hadn't settled and had lost. not to mention the lawyers fees. now we will see if all the "off the clock" work continues. if the ce's are stupid enough to keep doing it then it will. how about it ce's? are you dumb enough to continue to give away your time so the bigwigs can continue to rake in the big bucks??

Anonymous said...

to the poster above--unless i heard the lawyer wrong when i talked to him it was a possible 50 million not 15 million dollar lawsuit. but he said that figure was the maximum and that the settlement would probably be alot less. but it is possible i heard him wrong..

Remember the "Sopranos" episode when the Sports Store Owner was in dept with the mob over a card game.

To settle his dept he let the mob run his business. They max out all his credit and bought all kinds of merchandise. Then they resold everything for less then half the price and kept the cash for themselves. Long story short the mob got more then what was owed to them and the business closed.

I suspect the Nutjob has been playing cards with the wrong people because nobody is this stupid. He started out with a 120 year old solid company, now it's on the way to junk stock status. And he just keeps spending like there's no tomorrow.

Hello All,
My name is Michelle and I was the plaintiff in the case filed:
Michelle Teeter vs. NCR Corp
(the class action suit against NCR)
I just wanted you to know that the case was settled and I'm very happy that all the CE's in the US can receive some amount of repayment.
I filed the suit when I realized that not only was I beyond frustrated, other CE's had gone through the very same time consuming problems with nothing being done to fix the system issues. I was tired of banging my head against a wall of inconsistences and different standards when it came to management, payroll and labor issues. What I had hoped to accomplish was change of the current policies and end the confusion about hours and rates of pay.
I am from California and the state laws here typically provide better protection and compensation for employees. Unfortunately, when NCR's HR, and payroll depts. aren't properly trained to know or understand these laws, we are left to the interpretation of the individual TM's. My opinion is that a conflict of interest exists when the TM's duties and job performance rating is affected by their ability in the control and maintainance of lower labor costs and overtime when they are also the only person who has the duty to see to it that an employees hours are reported accurately and the classification of hours is correct. These may seem routine and simple tasks but can become quite complicated. Most TM's are not payroll specialists,or have the additional time required to become one.
My goal was NEVER to collect some huge amount of money, nor was I trying to damage the company in any way. I hoped that bringing up these issues and these problems would cause them to be corrected at a corporate level so that current CE's (myself having been included) and the future CE's would not be forced to continue to work unpaid hours and compensated at incorrect rates of pay.
Unfortunately, I don't feel I was very successful in achieving those goals because of numerous factors.
It was in fact brought to my attention by someone in HR just last week(during a conversation to correct doubletime hours I was missing on my paycheck)it doesn't even state in the CE handbook, that employees in California get doubletime for all hours worked in excess of 12 in one day despite the UNDISPUTABLE FACT this is the CALIF state law. This information is correctly reported on the HR Express website under compensation (and specifically for california). I was told by HR that the CE handbook is the governing set of rules for CE's and the HR site is for the rest of NCR employees, despite the fact I've received numerous communications directing the HRsite as our first and only source needed to find answers to these types of questions,
So sadly I surmise, if today I was a new CE who reported my hours and pay based on the CE handbook, I would be paid less than I was entitled to or required to be paid by law. Unfortunately the person charged with the duty of reporting accuracy, has the the conflicting goal of controlling labor costs. It's my opinion that historically, these corrections are not being pointed out or made. The fact is clear, the CE is the one who is shortchanged. The relevency of whether these actions are intentional or caused by negligence or ignorance is unclear, but clearly the problem still remains today.
I hope the settlement payments will in some small way make up for a year of no raises and no bonuses for most CE's who give so much of themselves to NCR and receive less and less.
This was and has always been all about you...I wish I could have done more.
Sincerely,
Michelle Teeter

Thank you Michelle for your hard work

Anonymous said...

I want to second that thank you. It took guts to do what you did. I also think we have seen some positive changes come about from your actions. In my area we are no longer doing any kind of brigde calls with control tower or our TM before 8AM and we are not to be on the call unless we are on the clock at the time of the call. Management also seems to have backed off on some of the creative ideas they have had in the past for controlling overtime.

Good luck and thanks again.

NCR gives four executives nearly $10 million in stock
Dayton Business Journal - by Jacob Dirr DBJ Staff Reporter
NCR Corp. is awarding nearly $10 million in stock to four company leaders, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Bill Nuti, NCR’s chief executive officer, was approved for two restricted stock awards valued at a total $7.7 million.
NCR (NYSE: NCR) granted Nuti a restricted stock award valued at $4.7 million in late February, and an additional performance-based retention award consisting of restricted stock worth $3 million. The retention grant is subject to a one-year performance period and his continued employment with the company until February 2012, according to the Friday filing.
In late February, the company also awarded $1.12 million of restricted stock to Tony Massetti, chief financial officer, and $1.1 million of restricted stock to two senior vice presidents: Chris Wallace, with NCR services, and Peter Lieb, general counsel and secretary.
NCR officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
The Dayton-based company, which sells ATMs and retail automation systems, has 1,300 local employees and 20,000 worldwide.
Company stock fell about 8 percent, or 63 cents, to $7.29 per share in Monday afternoon trading. That is a five-year low for the company’s stock price.
In November, NCR announced several cost-cutting measures in anticipation of a weak global businesses environment. The moves include canceling holiday parties, business travel and eliminating merit pay raises for employees, including executives.
Nuti sent an e-mail to all employees late last year that outlined the moves, which also included implementing a hiring freeze effective immediately.
“How long this will continue is anybody’s guess, but NCR is not immune from the pressure,” Nuti wrote.
The company is also:
• Eliminating annual salary raises based on individual performance for all employees, including executives;
• Putting the brakes on all business travel and entertainment, unless it is critical and approved seven days in advance;
• Cancelling all internal events, including everything from holiday parties to off-site meetings; and
• Mandating approval for all overtime.
“I recognize that these decisions and changes can be difficult,” Nuti wrote then.

Thank you Michelle for all the effort you put into the case against NCR. Sadly you are correct about local management misbehavior, it is encouraged and blessed by senior management. The lawsuit won't stop any of it, as long as NCR believes these practices to be cost effective. In NYC the union is constantly addressing these local "Interpretations" and "Policies" and reminding local managers that the contract is clearly stated and legally binding. Hopefully the CEs in the rest of the country can organize and there won't be a need to sue NCR every so often, because they are never going to change.

TUNNEL VISION

Funny, Nutjob wants a GPS in all CEs cars so they can be tracked. But he won't let his company owned jet be tracked. Go to this site and try to track the Nutjob.

NCR Corp. settled two class action lawsuits in late February, brought on by California and Illinois employees and resulting in at least $12 million in company costs.

The lawsuits, filed in March and October last year, said NCR (NYSE: NCR) owed employees for “off-the-clock” work they were not paid for, as well for working through unpaid meal and rest breaks in violation of law, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The lawsuits pertained to “customer engineers,” who provide installation and repairs on equipment NCR sells, such as ATMs.

“NCR’s decision to settle these cases, without admitting any wrongdoing or liability, was based on the fact that the litigation process would have been lengthy, burdensome and expensive,” the company said in a statement. “Settlement was deemed to be in the best interests of NCR, our stakeholders and our employees.”

NCR automatically deducted pay for lunch breaks, even though the engineers — who do not report to a centralized office — often work through lunch because of job demands, according to court documents.

The employees said NCR maintained a policy and practice of paying employees without regard to the number of hours actually worked and required them to work off-the-clock without pay, according to the documents.

California NCR employees filed the March lawsuit and employees at Chicago-based First Level Technology LLC — a NCR subsidiary — filed in October.

In all, about 26 employees joined in the two lawsuits.

The Dayton-based company, which sells ATMs and retail automation systems, has 1,300 local employees and 20,000 worldwide.

All U.S. C.E's can opt in for the Class Action Suit, even the Union guys in the New York Metro group.

CEs in New York have more sense then to let management push them into working during there lunch hours or not taking breaks. If we work we get paid end of story.
Be smart and vote the Union in this year, you have nothing to lose and won't be sorry.

I agree. I want a union now. NCR can keep their bonuses. I want a better quality of life. I believe that the union can help us!

If we go union lets get the same contract the Nutjob has. You don't have to do anything but destroy a 120 year old company, waste NCR’s money and you get multi-million dollar bonuses.

Let’s have the NCR board of directors draw up our contract also. I'm sure the boys on the board are going to want a piece of our action too. I don't know what percentage Nutty gives them but I say we throw them back 20%. This way every bodies happy but the shareholders. But like the Nutjob always says "HAH-RAY for us and fuck them".

what are you girls talking about? you won't get a unionnnnn. you're too weak and you couldn't organize yourselves last time. you'll again waste your time (you being the same two or three clueless bloggers who are incapable of creating a sentence that doesn't include obcenities) pretending to be working hard to get the unionnnn voted in, while in reality you're just sitting on your asses typing into your computer. oops, left out a word: your sorry asses.

Hey Mr. "Unionnnn", get a life you don't even work for NCR. You proved it when you didn't have a clue with the class action law suit won by the CEs.

What, did you get fired from a union job? Why take time out of your day for this blog? Do you have nothing to do? Is your wife not giving you any?

I have more respect for the Nutjob then you and he’s a total fuck-up but at least he’s our fuck-up. You’re just a bag of wind with no purpose. I almost feel sorry for you.

you just can't help proving my point about being incapable. the ignorance makes me laugh every time I read your words. never in my life have I interacted with anyone more unionnnn worthy.

From the Dayton Business Journal

Three of the four largest NCR Corp. shareholders have dumped all of their NCR stock in the past year, resulting in roughly 31 million shares sold.

The actions could be an indication that some NCR (NYSE: NCR) investors’ faith in the company is shaken, at least until the global economy recovers, said an analyst who follows the company. But with its stock price sinking, NCR is buying more shares, and a new investment firm has bought a 5 percent stake.

The three shareholding companies, which collectively owned 17.4 percent of the company before they sold, all declined comment or did not return calls seeking comment.

u all need to read this will this ever happen at NCR ummm no!!

On St. Bonaventure's small rural campus, no one's flying a corporate jet to work, raking in million dollar bonuses or attending luxury retreats.

Top cabinet members here make, on average between $80,000 and $100,000 dollars and for next year they've agreed take a five percent pay cut.

For weeks, University President Sister Margaret Carney has been trying to balance the budget. With a shrinking endowment, uncertain enrollment and funding down, it's not pretty.

"Someone in the cabinet said, would it be possible to propose to our colleagues a reduction in pay," Sister Carney told us.

The hope is a pay cut for the top will mean a very modest increase for the bottom. Wages have been frozen for months and many of those employees make around $20,000 dollars each year.

"We feel a real obligation to the economic welfare of this region not doing a round of layoffs," Carney said.

"There's very much a spirit of we're all in this together," says Associate Professor Chris Mackowski.

He says the administration's gesture has helped morale and showed what the University is all about.

"We talk a lot here about Franciscan values in the tradition of St. Francis. We talk about social justice, concern for the poor, those who are less fortunate than us and to me it just struck me as Franciscan values in action," he adds.

Yes Bill Nutti is just like Bernie Madoff. All he cares about is himself & making himself some quick cash. He could care less about the company or its employee's. A far cry from our founder, Patterson. Mark my words, he'll be out of here with his 10 Million in Stock Options by 2012. Do yourself a favor and Vote for the IBEW this summer when we have another vote! Don't let NCR screw us again because they will!

another unionnnn vote? be still, my heart! the excitement is already overwhelming.

Anonymous said...

To anonymous above, thats not your heart you hear its the sound of your ASS preparing for the next thing NCR is about to shove up it. Bend over and enjoy. Or perhaps you could try to change things by signing the card. Your choice.

Anonymous said...

what you'll be feeling is the unionnnn fist going up your butt and grabbing ahold of your innerds, never to let go. much like the government subsidy and welfare programs, once they have you they'll never let you go and you'll be doing whatever they choose for you to do, and you won't have a thing to say about it. remember what ncr did to those who struck in dayton (if you don't, ask the geezers)? don't for a second think the ce is irreplaceable and that the same thing won't happen to you. you think the unionnnn is your savior? keep an eye on the auto workers. take a good look around and try to find some unionnnn workers who aren't being laid off. they aren't being saved. did you get a pewter plate on your twenty-fifth anniversary? dig it out because you'll need it when you get to the front of the soup line. and your unionnnn card won't mean a thing when you get there.

Anonymous said...

So Mr. Uniioonn-you talk how the union will grab you by the innards and not let go. so how is this any different than what ncr does to us?? except they want us to bend over and continuously take it in the rear while our leaders get the big bonuses. I don't see any nyc union people being laid off. i did see them getting a raise the last 5 years and this year which is much better than many of us have done. I have never been a big pro union person but the way ncr has treated us the last 7-10 is quickly changing me into one.

Anonymous said...

a couple of questions foor you all
Do you have voice rite now in ncr?
do the teamsters in NYC have a voice rite now ant ncr??

will we have a voice if union is voted in

did nyc get a raise this year??

if we had a union would we have gotten a raise????

Anonymous said...

Be careful what you vote for! A whole bunch of idiots voted for obama-lama-ding-dong and now look what in hell is going on. they got their change, all right. he's just a used car salesman who doesn't have any idea what to do next.

Anonymous said...

There seems to be some confused people out there, hope a few things can be cleared up. If you own NCR stock you have a voice in running the company, the Teamsters union is probably not a stock holder. The employees of NCR who are members of the Teamsters union have a contract, CE1s and CE2s got a pay raise last July 1 they will get another this July 1 and another next July 1. The contract addresses working conditions, pay, redress of grievances and any other conditions related to the exchange of labor for compensation. An elected committee negotiates the contract with a committee appointed by NCR and the entire union membership votes to either accept or reject the final draft of the contract. NCR is free to run the business to whatever limits the stock holders will allow. The Teamsters union consists of it's members who elect officers and representatives from among the membership. Keep asking questions until you have a clear understanding of the facts.

All I know, is that the company has cut everything that used to make this a good place to work and made it where everyone dreads coming to work everyday. The environment of trust is gone, which usually means that being represented by a union gives people a sence of stability that has been missing for a long time at ncr. There is certainly a "Us" against "Them" mentality that is pretty deep seated company wide, and I don't see the management doing anything to change that. Execs getting million dollar + bonuses while not giving the peons a simple raise is definately a thorn in the side of the average worker bee. But, if another union vote comes along, are people going to let the company talk them out of it again? The unions are a business too, it costs them time and money to run a campaign to get a vote, just to have people say no in the end. Think about it, there may not be to many more chances to have a voice in the future before there is no future at all.

Anonymous said...

To the above, I agree 100%, GREAT POST.

I remember when NCR was more like a family then a company to work for. There was plenty of job security and every year you got a good raise depending on your performance.

The only people who were fired and did not get raises were the thieves and the non-performers. Usually when someone got fired mostly everybody agreed the person had to go.

The Nutjob would have definitely qualified to be fired back then. I mean he's a thief, a non-performer, and mostly everybody agrees he should go.

The NCR stockholder's meeting will be held April 22 9:00 AM at The Millenium Hilton 55 Church St. NYC.
If you are a stockholder on rec ord as of Feb 9. you can attend the meeting and vote your shares. Bill Nuti's term expires at the time of the meeting. If you own NCR stock you can vote in person, by mail, by phone or by e-mail, not to renew his contract. You must vote if you wish to remove him, just as with your union vote, if you do nothing, you agree with everything Nuti et al have done and are doing with your company.

Anonymous said...

So with all this hate within the company, how does NCR plan to survive this rough economy? Do you think Nuti will stick around? How is the company doing financially? I read that they bought a helicopter. Does this mean the company has no worries financially?

Anonymous said...

YA OK DUDE WE HAVE MATRIXS AND THEY HAVE BEEN RAISED HIGHER
BUT THE CE'S GET SHAFTED AS USUAL

Anonymous said...

Will NCR survive?

No not as long as the "Commander and Thief" Bill Nuti is in charge.

We sell service. - The Nutjob has managed to piss off everybody in that department.

We sell ATMs - Not only are we trying to sell to banks with no money to buy, but the Nutjob pissed off everybody in sales.

Also he closed all our factories to get that cheap labor in India.
The experienced people left know their days are numbered so they're not happy either.

Billy boy is happy though he buys extravagant toys with company money, ex. - helicopters and jets. He gets on this blog and writes stupid remarks like the comment above, "pretending to be a CE".

Getting rid of him and his yes men will save one of the last great American companies.

I agree, now Nuti announces no bonus payout for the 1st half of 2009 and He will take no bonus. Not bad for a guy thats already a multi-millonaire, but what about us? We have had pay cuts and no raises for years in the name of the "crisis" and He and the exec team, walked off with big pay outs in the years past, including this year while the stock was hovering at 7.00 a share they announce another huge bonus for execs while the working stiffs get nothing again. Since they control the "trigger" for the bonuses, my guess is that there will never be a payout again. While We try to refinance our homes to avoid going bankrupt, they may have to not go to the carribean for one weekend a year and stay home in the mansion with the servants for that time, poor guys.. Time for us to speak out and quit pussy footing around before its too late!!

Anonymous said...

"Do you think Nuti will stick around?"

I hope not!!!

NCR to cut jobs in Dayton, elsewhere
By Thomas Gnau

Staff Writer

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

DAYTON — NCR Corp. is cutting its Dayton workforce — as well as "labor costs" throughout the company.

Company spokespeople would not say how deep the cuts will be or answer other questions.

"I can't. We're not going to comment any further," said Alan Ulman, an NCR spokesman.

NCR, in a statement released Tuesday, March 24, said that in order to "maintain competitiveness," it will take two steps.

"The first step is to align NCR's labor costs to the company's current business levels," the company said. "This will result in a number of staff reductions throughout the company, reducing organizational layers and increasing management spans of control."

"The second step is that the target 2009 bonus payments will be reduced by 50 percent for all eligible employees inclusive of the executive team, and by 100 percent for our CEO (chief executive Bill Nuti) to $0," the statement added.

NCR has some 1,300 employees in Dayton and about 23,000 worldwide.

The company, started in Dayton more than 120 years ago, has been pulling from the city for years. It announced executive offices in Manhattan in late 2007 and announced an expansion late last year that would add some 900 jobs to company operations in Georgia.

NCR Corp. is laying off employees and will begin notifying the workers as soon as possible.

The company would not say how it will affect the Dayton headquarters, where it employs 1,300, or how many of the 20,000 global employees will be affected.

In two memos sent this week to employees, NCR (NYSE:NCR) leadership blamed the cuts, which include restructuring its customer service labor pool, on the global economy’s continued decline and said the timing of a recovery remains in question.

A company spokesperson said NCR does not comment on internal memos, but confirmed there would be “a number of staff reductions throughout the company.” The company will reduce bonuses by 50 percent for the full year for all eligible employees, including the executive team. However, NCR said it’s CEO, Bill Nuti, will not receive any bonus this year.

“I take very seriously any decisions that may adversely impact our employees, and I can assure you these decisions were given considerable thought and all options to reduce job loss were considered,” Nuti wrote in the memo.

The next day, Senior Vice President Chris Wallace sent another memo to employees to announcing that NCR Services is “simplifying and streamlining” its management and staff structure.

It will do that by cutting non-customer facing staff jobs, Wallace wrote.

The reductions will affect select job roles spread across several support organizations that include Services Delivery Playbook, Service Parts, Professional Services and Technical Support Operations. Some customer service region staff roles will be impacted.

The roles that will be affected have been identified and employee notifications will begin as soon as possible, Wallace wrote.

Within the US, NCR will also create three new vice president positions.

Gil Luria, vice president of research at Los Angeles-based Wedbush Inc., which covers NCR, said the cuts are not a surprise because analysts knew NCR would make less this year and would have to cut spending.

“They are in cost-cutting mode. It was true when revenue was growing and also true to when revenue is in decline,” Luria said. “The freezing of the bonuses — and the CEO taking zero bonus — those are things meant to have a more immediate and direct effect on reducing costs this year.”

The company, the second-largest in the Dayton area, expects full-year 2009 revenue to be in the range of 2 percent to 6 percent lower than in 2008.

NCR, which sells ATMs and retail automation systems, had $5.31 billion in revenue for 2008, compared with $4.97 billion in 2007.

Luria said that because of currency fluctuations, he expects revenue might fall 5 percent to 9 percent in 2009.

NCR’s stock is selling for $9.54, up 15 cents a share, in early afternoon trading.
