Since I filled in "yes" on my card and mailed it in, does it count for only one vote/one year; or is it good for a while?

Attention Steve Smith:

If you are a CE in the northeast the card you signed was good for this one election only. You will have to sign another card in order to file for the election next June. Stay tuned.

I see this blog has about died. Doesn't matter, not that many people came here anyway. Its a shame. We had a chance to vote in a union, to try to protect ourselves from the certain NCR greed and hostility towards its own workers, but once NY gave in to the company's demands, it was the end for the rest of us. No sense beating a dead horse, now we either accept it or move on. Just a few more bridge payments and I am gone. It is a shame what has happened to a once great place to work.

ncr sucks said...

NCR was NEVER a great place to work! It was just acceptable, now it is unacceptable, and I will be gone the day of my last Bridge Payment!

Anonymous said...

NCR was a great place to work at one time, but those days are long gone. Back in the 80's I remember getting a raise for doing a good job, it wasn't even PA time. Now if you do a good job the only thing you get is more work to do. Maybe I was just young and stupid, but I couldn't wait to go to work every morning. But now I dread the coming of the next work day.

Just stumbled into this website glassdoor.com - that people write in reviews of the company they work for and tell their salary. It is all anonymous. The idea being is that salaries/pay should be known-- and everyone should be paid a fair rate of pay for thier work. The site is free. In order to access the reviews you have to send in a review. Then you can read other people's whole review. If it becomes public knowledge what people are being paid and how they are being treated = new employees may or may not show up to work at the company. To the CE who are considering to leave NCR:
Check WINCOR out on Web. They are looking for people working for them. Even Mr. Nutti is admitting there is a competition from WINCOR. I heart Chase Bank, one of the NCR biggest customers, has already put several hundred WINCOR's ATM in Chicago and some in New York City. Nutti said WINCOR plan to gain 20% the share of US market in next 10 years.mmmm.. It is a very interesting thing.
When you are mistreated. Don't just get MAD, GET EVEN. GO joint the WINCOR if it treats its employee fairly.I am too young to retire and too old to start a new career.I will give a try if I am young.

I also managed to sign up about 30 people to vote for a union in our area, but it looks like it was all for nothing. Too may new employees who havent gotten to see firsthand how NCR will screw them. Because of policies that George Bush, John McCain and their wealthy supporters have been pushing for years, the United States is facing some of the worst financial conditions in our history. It was the McCain/Gramm banking bill that unleashed the greed that has led to potential financial collapse.
Yet the dangerous proposal that Bush and his allies have put before Congress for resolving this crisis would let those most responsible for creating the problem off the hook while doing nothing to help the millions of Americans who face real financial distress as a result of their careless greed.
It is clear that Congress must act quickly to stabilize the economy. But they must not rubber stamp this blank check for Wall Street.
Please take a few minutes and email your Senators and Representative today. Remind them that a bailout without conditions protecting American workers is unacceptable:

He was concerned about the quality of service. He said he will take this information to the other board members. Americans query CEO pay scales as crisis deepens said...

Americans query CEO pay scales as crisis deepens
By Tim Gaynor Fri Oct 3, 9:15 AM ET
PHOENIX (Reuters) - Arizona design teacher Marsha Minniss believes the culture of paying sky-high salaries to U.S. executives is "insane."

Public health director Paul Pisinski from Massachusetts thinks multi-million dollar payouts for CEOs are "unfair" and "unwarranted" as a global financial crisis deepens.
Texan market stall holder Alan Smythe just wishes someone would pay him a million dollars to run a Wall Street financial firm into the ground.
"They gave the guy from (American International Group) $40 million. Give me a million and I'll run it into the ground faster than that, I'll run it into the ground in six months." he said.
The United States places a high value on the pursuit of wealth and many speak of the American Dream in which anyone can achieve riches and success through hard work -- and resentment toward the rich is comparatively rare.
But as U.S. lawmakers consider a $700 billion bailout for Wall Street using public money, many on Main Street are turning against the culture of lavish executive pay, analysts say.
Last year CEOs of companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 index on average took in $10.5 million in pay, 344 times that of the typical U.S. worker, according to the Institute for Policy Studies and United for a Fair Economy, two groups that focus on social justice issues.
"It's an issue that people are outraged about across the political spectrum." said Sarah Anderson, an IPS analyst specializing in executive pay.
Up until now, the justification for golden CEO payouts has been that they recognize performance in a competitive international market. But as firms buckle under in the present crisis, and taxpayers are being asked to pick up the tab for some of their worst errors, many Americans are questioning that long held belief.
"I do not think it holds up," Pisinski told Reuters. "I don't think it's fair, I don't think it's warranted for anybody to be paid the bonuses and benefits that they have received, especially in light of the fact that they seem to be rewarded for failure."
Minniss, who was out shopping in upscale Scottsdale, Arizona, agreed.
"The whole thing's insane and I think the average American feels that way."
WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT?
Both Republican candidate John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama have spoken out against excessive pay for executives as the presidential campaign reaches its final stretch.
The U.S. Senate passed the bailout this week, and the U.S. House of Representatives was to debate it for a second time on Friday. House lawmakers on Monday rejected the measure, partly in response to anger from their constituents whom they face in elections on November 4.
The terms of the rescue package prevent windfalls for executives who made bad decisions. In addition, the bill limits "golden parachutes" -- as hefty severance packages are known -- and requires that unearned bonuses be returned.
While many Americans say they feel that large executive payouts are unacceptable, many are uncertain about quite what additional steps should be taken to curb them, Anderson said.
"The public feel outraged, but they feel disempowered. They don't know what they can do about it," she said.
Shareholder activists often protest excessive corporate pay at corporate meetings, although Minniss questioned whether that alone would place a sufficient brake on boardroom greed.
"I don't see that leaving it to shareholders has led us anywhere. Shareholders, all they care about are their profits," she said.
Darlene Dexter, 50, a resident of Cincinnati, was also puzzled over the best steps to take to address the issue.
"People that work hard and start their own companies, if they make a lot of money, great. But if they're not doing a good job, then no," she said, although she drew the line at laws to curb executive pay.
"I don't like too much government either, so probably no. It's hard. I don't know what the answer is."
Her solution: "I just wish (executives would) have a conscience and take care of the people who work for them."
(Additional reporting by Andrea Hopkins, Ed Stoddard and Matthew Bigg; editing by Vicki Allen)

The "Corp CEO" will take care of himself first, not his workers. The state the economy is in; is a good example of what happens. The pay structure CEO's are paid needs to be restructured. Loyal CEO's are hard to find with this generation of management. A loyal person will work for less because they believe in what they are doing.

Anonymous said...

"A loyal person will work for less because they believe in what they are doing."

Where'd this guy learn this kind of language? He must surely be referring to only CEOs and not CEs.
Or is he heading up a new group of CEs who are happy just to have a job in this new environment caused by those who control the purse strings in Congress.

Who keeps coming up with these silly ideas. We can sign every petition in the world, but no one can remove him but the board of directors. And even after he brok ehis contract, they don't seem to care, so let's just face the facts. He is here for as long as he wants. He will continue to screw the ce's at every possible chance he can, as long as it benefits his pocket. We had a chance for a union, and we blew it. The fault lies with us and the union. Learn to live with it or move on, which is my plan in a few more months.

This is a site from American Family-- it is to send a message to your Congressional reps regarding the current economic fiasco. It is a prime opportunity to mention the huuuge bonuses that companies are paying their execs and how this is similar to EMBEZZLEMENT. It is a diversion of company monies.

The site is cool- you type in your zip and the your reps come up automatically. You can chose to email or snail mail each one individually. There is a message already filled in- but you can delete some or all of it. I recommend creating your own message-- it shows thinking and it is more apt to be read. The site will automatically send you a copy of the email to your own email box. All this and you only type one message.

Some of you talk of getting rid of Bill Nuti - but if we (they) did someone even worse would be brought in. It is the attitude and accountability which must change. CEOs can't be allowed away with $20M packages and must justify cutting cost and pay at grass roots CE levels while lavishing New York offices and Jets on themselves. Bill Nuti isnt incompetent or evil - he just need a board of directors which have him on a short leash with a whip...baaaah!

One phony those overpaid CEO always mentioned: His compensation-salary and bonus- is decided by a comittee whose members are formed not only from his own company but also from OTHER companies of same industry. I heard this kind of saying many times recently. It sounds pretty fair and OBJECTIVE. BUT the truth is:
The comittee's members from the same company will get reward from the BOSS if they give the BOSS a favor or they may need find another job very soon. The comittee's members from other companies usually are CEO of those companies too. They will and NEED give a VERY VERY GOOD DEAL to this CEO for they are expecting this same CEO to do the same thing to them when this CEO shows up in their own individule compensation meeting.
I learn it from an article of Forbes several years ago.
Another thing those overpaid managers like to use to fool us is PERCENTAGE.
Low percentage numbers, like 3%, usually would not look like a big number. If someone propses giving 3% of the net profit of a company to the top managers as a reward. It would not raise our blood presure a bit as we heard it, and we would think it is reasonable number, only 3%. BUT if a compay's net profit reaches thousands million dollar, this 3% of it will become a monster. This is how CITI group was able to pay its former CEO Mr. Prince $300 millions as bonus . and it is not uncommon practice in our corp's world. And they will tell us "IT IS ONLY 3%,NO BIG DEAL".

I'm so sick of these CEOs like the “Nutjob”. They go from company to company leaving a trail of destruction then get a golden parachute when they’re done. Look at the mess these evil greedy basterds have gotten us into, our economy is in disaster mode. People have lost everything they've worked for their whole lives. But these dumb-ass pieces of shit CEOs walk away with a wheel barrel full of money.

Americans are so pissed it looks like a socialist is going to end up the White House.
The greed in these evil basterds like the “Nutjob” reaffirms my faith in that there is a heaven and hell because him and his ilk need to burn for what they've done to us.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS OF THE CEO WHO STARTED OUT IN MAILROOM? The guy who worked his way up and cared about the company and the people he worked with. He's gone and now we have temporary idiots interested in short term profits and their bonus. The long-term goals of a strong healthy company employed by people who love their job and work place are gone. Instead the short-term ideology just trickles from the top down making for the end of great American companies and sad to say a great nation.

Now matter how inexpensive these “genius” CEOs make a product, if the means of doing so cost Americans their jobs or a good wage then who the hell can afford to buy the cheap junk their trying to sell. Maybe they’ll have turn to China, India, or Mexico.

The new survey is out and as usual it contains a few clues to top management thinking. It seems that 5+ years of service makes you an "Old timer" I hope enough time remains for any you wishing to have a career here to organize in order plan it on your own timetable.
Without a union it is probably a prudent plan to seek other employment before the bridge pay runs out.

Hey Bill Nutty,

The more time your here trying to figure out how many workers are pro union and writing your stupid comments the better for NCR. Because thats the less time your spending screwing up the company. The stock is down about $16.00 per share. Your shit earnings will be out soon then it will probably go below $10.00 per share. Sure glade you boosted up moral by cutting your senior employees pay. Now banks like Chase are unloading as many NCR ATMs as they can. I think you should go to Google earth and look for places to move after your estate in East Hampton forecloses (Poetic Justice). That should take up a lot of your day and keep you away from the controls of the company until they get rid of your dumb ass.

In an attempt to cut operating costs, NCR will be replacing the company service vehicles. The replacement service vehicles will have no review mirror, and no steering wheel. In the short term, NCR see's major operating cost savings to offset lower earnings projected in the 4th quarter.

Subject: TM's: CE work schedules - Mandatory response

As you know, many territories are up against a solid wall of backlogged calls. As you also know, we have been directed to schedule our CE's to extend their daily shifts (later hours or earlier hours, depending on shift), and to schedule our CE's for 6 days. It has come to my attention that many teams are not following these guidelines.

Effective immediately, please prepare 6-day work schedules for each CE, and add 1-2 hours to each daily shift. This cannot be just a verbal work schedule, but an actual, hard copy schedule that is added to InfoDesk (CSA tool).

We are all in this together!
Every CE and TM must participate in order to achieve our goal.
CE's must contact you prior to noon each day if they are unable to stay out for extra calls.
TM's must notify the SC's so that this particular CE is not given extra work. Failure to notify the SC will cause him/her to challenge the CE, and we want to avoid this conflict..
SLA's will drive our BPP for 2008 (as in 2007). Be sure that the CE's know they are eligible for a bonus at the end of 2008, but SLA's will be a key driver.
These extra hours and shifts won't go on forever. We are in a crisis-mode and the only way to get a fresh start is to work together.

We have discovered a handful of CE's that believe these guidelines do NOT apply to them. Everyone has special needs (family commitments, special events, etc.), but when the same CE's continue to NOT participate in the clean-up, other CE's will quickly realize and resent the situation. It is the TM's responsibility to identify those CE's that are not helping in this huge endeavor.

Again, this is not a request, but a requirement.

Thanks everyone,
Sherri

Are you kidding me??

1)We are all in this together!

Translation: You are to do what ever I demand.

2)SLA's will drive our BPP for 2008 (as in 2007). Be sure that the CE's know they are eligible for a bonus at the end of 2008, but SLA's will be a key driver.

Translation: Use this as a carrot on our tired workhorses to speed them up, but we know they won't really see but a few dollars of the elusive bonus.

3) We are in a crisis-mode and the only way to get a fresh start is to work together.

Translation:Damn it, our ridiculous plan to make us more money by using cheap parts from 3rd world countries has backfired so you have to work even harder so we can get back to where we were before(when things were screwed but less screwed than we are now)

NCR Filing Form 10-Q 8-5-2008

Risk :If we do not attract and retain quality employees, we may not be able to meet our business objectives. Our employees are vital to our success. Our ability to attract and retain highly skilled technical, sales, consulting and other key personnel is critical, as these key employees are difficult to replace. If we are unable to attract or retain highly qualified employees by offering competitive compensation, secure work environments and leadership opportunities now and in the future, our business and operating results could be negatively impacted.

Anonymous said...

NCR cannot attract/retain skilled people in the WCS due to the following reasons:

Job Description
Compensation
Management Bullying
Excessive Workload
Untrained Personell
Hours of Work
Low Quality Replacement Parts
Unfair PA's
Company Politics

it's all I could think of right now, anyone have anything more to add, feel free :)

Listen up everybody..

Its is obvious why this company is falling apart. How does one expect to motivate employees to give more for less. CEs are making a little above the poverety line. They took as much as 30 percent away from the help, and let quality personal go! My grandfather use to say " You get what you pay for" My AFOD Steve G thinks he is GODS GIFT TO NCR! He is nothing but an uneducated miserible SOB. He thinks that he can get the crew to work by making idle threats!..BULLSHIT.. It aint going to happen. We have a hand full of TMs that blow him good. He just pulls on their puppet strings wheneven he wants something done. He is the exact reason why NCR will never survive.

NCR claims that we need to attract quality people but it will never happen with what NCR calls competitive pay! And as far as the help we brought onboard, well that speaks for itself! I dont need to elaborate, you know what Im talking about. No disrespect to all you new hirees. It not your fault. NCR has promised you the world but they lied. They made this job seem so glorious, but they were refering to the job 20 years ago and not of late.. Today is about how to fuck the guys as much as possible for as little as possible.

NCR told all you new guys that you would be trained and made it sound like you would be turned it a world class SUPER TECH, instead they gave you a can of air and a rag and had you push dust from one end of the counter to the other. And it doesnt get any better than that!

You can forget about any promotions. You will be stuck at a dead end job for as long as you stay here. Don't let anyone tell you any different. I fell for that line of shit and 24yrs later all I have to show for it is a $20,000 pay cut. If and when I have he opportunity to meet NUTJOB and CHEAT-ALL in person, I will give it to them loud and publicly and I dont care if they fire me. I am out of here by the end of my bridge and I plan to burn as many bridges as I can.

You guys had the perfect opportunity to stick it to NCR by voting in the union and getting your just due. But you blew it. Now I know that there are a bunch of you who think that I am a loud mouth disgruntled employee, and you're right. But that dosent make me wrong!

Let's do some math.
500 CE3 lost average $10,000 pay. It is 5 million. It is the money NCR THINK it can save a year. BUT
500 unhappy CE will average slow down and do less calls. Saying 1/2 call less a day.
500 x 1/2 = 250 calls. These 250 calls/day will eventually become over time. Assume average $20/hour. The total cost will be

250 call x $20 x 1 1/2 x 365 days = 2.74 million.

Plus. 500 unhappy CE will not dilligently charge to customers when they shoud have charged. Or even NOT charge cuswtomers when it should. Saying there are 2 such calls a weeks. Then

500 CE x 2 calls x 52 week x $150 per charge call = 7.8 million.
2.74 million + 7.8 million =

"""" 10.54 million """""
Plus low low low morale. It can become many many million of loss to NCR.
A ten year old kid can figure it out. But the persons who got pay millions dollar could not think of it.
IT IS JUST NOTHING BUT A PURE STUPIDITY.

I stopped charging customers the first time NCR told me I was going to get a bonus and then took it back. Now I just charge bogus calls I know the customer will not have to pay just so the report will show I am charging my quota.

Try ordering the wrong part for the weekend guy. Just fat finger one digit by mistake of course. NCR then has 3 options
NFO the part = High cost to NCR
Reorder the part for Monday or if combined with work slowdown Tuesday = customer dissatisfaction
Send you or someone else to get the part = Takes someone out of the field allowing calls to back up more

If the new guys call you for help just say something like L2 would say like have you replaced the main bd? After a few time of this they will stop calling you. More time to play golf during your extended lunch.

Looks like all the new hires in Chicago aren't working out so well. Just found out other areas are again going to have to send people to help. This is like Obamas "spread the wealth" idea, except its is NCR's "spread the failure plan". Since Chicago can't make their numbers, they'll steal employees from other areas, causing them to miss their numbers also. Then they can say our numbers are so bad, we wont get a bonus. Another example of poor planning from NCR, or great idea to screw the CE's again.

Your the Moron and must be a new hire or one of these new dumber than dumb new managers.

We older guys went to school to learn electronics for a career not a job. We started when that mental patient Jimmy Carter was president and there were no jobs. Interest rates were at 16 percent, there was even something called a misery index. The economy was in shambles.

We will retrain ourselves for another career where the job markets are growing. The entry level starting pay will at least be the same shit-pay as what we're getting paid now.

The only morons are you and that shit head Nutty who don't understand the quality of the work force they pissed off. But when we're gone there will not be highly skilled, educated people left to fix this new brand of NCR junk. All NCR will have is a bunch of brain dead idiots pointing fingers as to who's fault it is why nothing is getting fixed and NCR's customer base is gone.

That’s when you'll see a nationwide union because the skill level will be low and the new guys will have no protection from the wrath of management.

There are no jobs now. What do you think it will be like at the end of your bridge. Companys are cutting workers or going out of business. The economy is in ruins. Couple of months ago, Verizon told its workers " we can only give you so and so. Take it or leave." Quess what happened then. Verizon gave in to the UNION. And 60 plus days ago, Boing told its workers " we do not want to pay more and gonna to cut your medical, retirment...and by the way we want outsource your job too." Your absolutely right only the old guys (and gals) have had enough and are willing to fight for their rights, these young people could give a shit because in reality they only plan on NCR to be a stepping stone and a resume entry. (what ever thats worth)

like I said, you're a bunch of droolers. you've already tried the unionnnnn route and you couldn't manage it. you're beat and you know it. you use this spot to mouth off and make yourself feel big and worth something but you aren't. you're a loser, plain and simple. you hate your job, you hate your boss, you hate your co-worker, you hate your customers, and you hate yourself for being such a weakling. that's the way all loudmouths are. I won't wish you luck because it won't do you any good. you're going down and going so deep you'll never recover. get out! you're doing no one any good, including your family.

I've had 20 or more TMs over the years, some good some bad most in between. The Union has kept the working conditions steady across all of the management changes. The Union has meant job security and dependable pay, making long range planning easier. I'm leaving NCR a little earlier than expected but happier and better off, thanks to the efforts of IBT Local 111 on my behalf. When the opportunity to vote for a union comes up you should consider the long term benefits and peace of mind a union can provide.

NCR stated for each atm they install, can eliminate 2 head-count of banks workforce. In a bank where they have 40 employee's, NCR will install 20 atm's. Very amazing. I'm thinking those eliminated employee's can get employment over-seas ( India, China, Japan). But..... if the over-sea's country's eliminate 2 head-count by installing 1 atm, those same employee's can find employment someplace, but not sure yet. I would like to see these atm's more "human". I think each atm needs a head.... a parrot head; something that repeats what the leaders of the manufacturer believes. For example: the parrot head would say: " we replaced 2 employed humans with this atm" This could be done in stereo with 2 speakers sitting on each side of the "parrot head" A stereo, parrot headed atm (SPHA) This is a great R&D idea. All we need now is some employed customer to use these SPHA's.

I think we've all learned something this past month or so. The only people who need to be replaced are the God dam greedy CEOs. They're over paid idiots, now we the taxpayer are bailing the dumb bastards out.

REPLACE THE NUT JOB! Figure it out, if Americans don't work they can't buy. Wake up Nutty your stocks are going no where because everybody knows your stupid. The market does not want to hear about new ways of cutting jobs that’s why we are in a record crash now. Once unemployment hits 10 percent it’s over. I can’t wait until they throw the Nutjob out.

I'm so sick of everybody blaiming Bush for everything that has gone wrong; last I checked, Clinton didn't secure the border, get alternative fuels, nor keep Wall Street in check.

Obama might be elected; but, you WILL regret voting for him.

Mark my words...

At least Palin HAS experience in politics (Major/Governor); Obama has spent his whole time trying to get elected vs. doing his job.

By the way, what's his voting record again???

Barack Hussein Obama’s voting record is ” present “ 164 times. Except when he voted to kill babies if they survive an abortion. Oh yea he voted to teach kindergartners sex education.

McCain is a war hero; you want to compare the Obamanation to him? What has Barack Hussein Obama ever done?

Palin far exceeds Barack Hussein Obama’s experience, the state of Alaska loves her, and She is the only one of the candidates with executive experience. Alaskans gets a 3000-dollar check every year, if Obama wins you’ll be giving up at least that to help “spread the wealth around”. Plus her husband is in the steelworkers union so she is definitely pro-union.

Pry that I don't let my wife and kids done this XMAS.

I TRUELY BELIEVE THAT THE UNION WILL HELP. OBAMA BELIEVES IN THE WORKING FAMILY. I AM A VOTING REPUBLICAN AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THIS NEW PRESIDENT WILL HELP ME, BUT I WILL GIVE HIM THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE HIMSELF.

WE SHOULD ALSO GIVE THIS UNION A TRY. LET TRY TO GET IT STARTED UP AGAIN. WHERE CAN WE GET THOSE CARDS?

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It's the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he's fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation's next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House. And while she's no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics - you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you've sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to - it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington - it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn't do this just to win an election and I know you didn't do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime - two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor's bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America - I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you - we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years - block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek - it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers - in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, "We are not enemies, but friends...though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection." And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world - our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down - we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security - we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America - that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that's on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America - the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome." Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

Yesterday was an incredible day.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your hard work – and to tell you what an impact you've had.
One of the most remarkable stories of this campaign season is how corporate-funded front groups tried – and failed – to use the Employee Free Choice Act as a wedge issue.
They spent nearly $20 million dollars to smear candidates who would defend the right to form a union, freely and fairly. And in almost every race, those candidates beat the lies.

These anti-union groups thought they could scare Americans into voting for candidates who would look out for CEOs while leaving the middle class holding the bag. Even Wal-Mart thought it could bully employees into voting against pro-worker candidates. You proved them wrong.
How? You helped us build an incredible grassroots movement for the Employee Free Choice Act:
Over 800,000 of you signed on to support this bill.
Ordinary Americans pitched in to fund our TV ads that set the record straight in key states.
Our hit video about the bill, “Your New Job,” has been watched 100,000 times.
Hundreds of you made phone calls in support of the Employee Free Choice Act.
Tens of thousands reached out personally to educate friends and family.
Over 35,000 of you helped us put pressure on the FEC to investigate Wal-Mart's electioneering against this bill.
Your actions have had a powerful effect. But now that we have a pro-worker president and a pro-worker majority in Congress, we have even more work to do. We're just beginning the long, hard fight to get this bill back onto the floor of Congress. And those anti-union front groups WILL spend millions more to stop us the closer we get to victory.
So here's our game plan: over the coming weeks and months, American Rights at Work will work toward our goal of one million signatures in support of this bill. We’ll engage new leaders in Congress and the White House. We'll work hard to keep our issues front and center in the media. And we'll fight the lies and smears with everything we've got. We will build on our momentum, and we will pass this bill!

It’s going to be a lot of work to restore the middle class and make the economy work for everyone, but with your continued support we will accomplish this goal. We can, we must, and we will.
Thank you so much for everything you do.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Maxwell

Yesterday was a historic day for our country and for working families.
Americans elected Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States, ending eight years of failed policies and disregard for the needs of working families.
This victory belongs to you.
CWA members across the country spent thousands of hours going door-to-door and making phone calls for President-elect Obama and the Democratic Party.
Our work is far from over. Yesterday's results put this country in a much better position than it was two days ago. But, now we need to make sure that our elected officials are held accountable. The most important piece of legislation for working Americans is the Employee Free Choice Act, which will allow millions of hard-working Americans to organize free from employer intimidation and strengthen our position at the bargaining table.
Please tell five of your friends to sign our petition to support the Employee Free Choice Act.
http://freechoiceact.org/page/invite/Momentum
Passing the Employee Free Choice Act into law is only the first step.
We need to make sure that all Americans can afford the basic right of affordable health care as prices skyrocket. We need to fix our economy by passing financial reform that helps Main Street, instead of Wall Street. And we need to make sure that hard-working Americans who have paid into Social Security for their entire life are able to retire.
The momentum is on our side, now it's up to us to make sure the politicians we helped to elect stand up for us. Urge your friends and family members to sign the petition and join the cause of working Americans.

Thank you again for your help in the historic 2008 election.
In Solidarity,

Annie Hill
Executive Vice President

BOOGIEMAN DICTIONARY DEFINITION IS "A terrifying specter".

CEOs = CRASHED WALL STREET BECAUSE OF GREED. CAUSING HALF MY LIFE SAVINGS TO DISSAPEAR.

NCR CEO = STOLE 20 PERCENT OF MY SALARY THEN GAVE HIMSELF A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR RAISE.

UNION = EQUALS MY LAST CHANCE TO PROTECT ME FROM THE "BOOGIEMEN".

Let me tell you people about NCR, I worked for NCR for many years, working hard as a CE and being moved into management about 9 years ago, I could see there were problems but kept hoping the upper management would take care of them. I did what I was told to do, I had to tell my CE's about their wages being cut and sell them on the idea it in the best interest of the company. NCR not only treats the blue collard people bad they also treat the white collard people just as bad. After doing all they asked I was sent back to an assitant TM, mind you with a wage cut and being told it was in the best interest of the company, I am in my senior years and had no where else to go, I reluctantly took the job and kept working hard. Then for the best "interest of the company" they decided I was no longer needed so the let me go. After all the years of service this is how a person is treated. I only tell this story for 2 reasons number one, it's not just the CE's getting beat up by NCR management but so are the lower management people and second, I have no repect for NCR as a company and am finding it very hard to find work as a senior citizen in this economy. I feel for you people going thru what you are going thru with NCR. As a layed off mamnager my advice to you is don't trust them.

It's nearly six months since 106 region got their contract, sure it's not as good as they wanted but it's better than what NCR gave you. NCR agreed to wages and working conditions which can not undone for the next two and a half years. NCR failed to break the union in region 106. Time is approaching fast, if you would like the guarantees a contract provides you need to work hard and never give up. Or do nothing and settle for whatever NCR thinks you deserve.

Unfortunately when it comes to the gps we are our own worst enemy. When ce's stay active on overtime on calls they have been done with for almost 2 hours why wouldn't the company question that? It would have been easy if the ce's would just be where they say they are. I can't blame the company for putting them in. Why should someone be afraid of having it in their van if they are where they should be? Too many surprise visits at sites and the ce's not where they say they are is why we now have to have the gps put in. So once again a few people have to spoil things for everyone. And how can it be a "security risk?" I would think it would be just the opposite.

I can tell this genius is a sucker for the Boogiemen. Lets have our phones bugged, cameras watching us, conversations taped, e-mail read, pulled over by police without probable cause, houses searched by police without a warrant, guns registered, a record of all cash transactions etc., after all if we're not doing anything wrong what’s the difference.

Wake up it’s not American it rubs freedom loving people the wrong way.

The GPS surveillance sends a great message to NCR’s financial and retail customers, ”Do not trust our CE’s because we don’t”. I think Nuti works for the competition because he keeps thinking of new ways to waste money, piss the customer base off and drive the stock price lower and lower.

Something about gps:
All CEs can be divided into 3 group:
Good CE who can run calls meet or over NCR expected.
OK CE who run averaged number of calls.
Slow CE who run way below the averaged number of calls.

Saying Good CE run 6 calls a day. OK CE run 4 calls a day. and Slow CE run 2 calls a day.
6 + 4 + 2 = 12.
When there is a GPS.
It will piss off good CE. For the Good CE, they run calls fast because they can sometimes take a break in between calls." Hey I have alrady finish so many calls in such short time and I deserve a short break.". Now there is no reason to rush for NCR does not like to see us be idle. So, the number of calls Good CE used to finish will be reduced from 6 to 4.
The OK CE will not change any thing.
The Slow CE well may have to do better for BIG BROTHER is watching their every move. So, no doubt their number of calls will increase from 2 to 3.
Now we add it up:
4 + 4 + 3 = 11.
Hmmmm.. It is a very interesting result. Believe me it was what happened last time NCR put GPS on every NCR VAN. It may be the very reason NCR pull off the GPS last time. Numbers would not lie.
GPS will not work. It may work for some group of people but it will reduce the total outcome. It will force the slow CE to do more but it will make all other CE become slow.
I learn it from last time NCR put GPS on our Van. I saw Good CE become slow, and Slow CE did not increase much. Yes, Nobody can hide but NCR will only see all Van just park longer in customers Sites. NCR will find out again the GPS which cost NCR millions dollar will not increase productivity at all.

"why would the gps bring increased harassment? a real answer, please, if you have a legitimate one".

Let’s say your manager just doesn't like you and wants to fire you. But your amount of calls and all that other bullshit is as good as some other guy he likes and doesn’t want to fire.

A: He will then compile a list of all your cell phone calls and see how much time your spending on the phone on non-company business.

B: Then he will match the times you went active on a call, but according to the GPS you stopped at Dunkin doughnuts or some other place first.

C: Now just the above 2 would not be good enough to fire your ass unless you've been written up a few times for it already. But add them with stealing "over time" from the company then your fucked. Most guys round off their O.T. to get the payroll sheet done quickly. Being that you’re worn out, from running calls 24/7 you don't have the time or energy to get your hours input exactly minute to minute.

D: Pay attention all you non-union voting idiots because here's the best part. Then your manager takes advantage of your rounding up time and every minute of "over time" that does not match your GPS bang your fired for stealing O.T.

E: If he really hates your ass, when somebody calls for job references he can say you were fired for stealing. If you sue him for lying his evidence is in black and white on a printed GPS report.

F: Vote the union in.

NCR doesn't know how to make money, only abuse CE's

There is only ONE reason NCR would use GPS (just like last time, no matter what the liers tell you) and that is to be able to BURN people at will. There is no good reason for it but to use it as another tool to instill fear in their people. Should of voted in a union, perhaps this wouldn't be a topic then.

Another reason to form Union.

As i learn from guy in NY that theie UNION CONTRACT say it very clear that:
If CE on call/avail.He is guaranted to have 2 hours OT for his fist call and even the call is finish shorter than 2 hours.

The CE who is not on call goes for help after shift will be paid 3 hours OT for the first/only call even the call is finish less than 3 hours.
It is a real FAIR deal, isn't it????
