When is there going to be another union vote....I am ready.

i voted 4 the union said...

We need a Union payscale like $15 base plus 50 cents for every year with the company added.

A 30 year employee would be

$15 base
plus 30 years times 50 cents would be another $15 for $30 an hr, that would be a reasonable payscale, then a 5% raise every year after that.

gino said...

payscale is better than what we have but its not good enough.

Great Video on the Employee Free Choice Act said...

Here is a great video about the Employee Choice Act (EFCA) I found that really puts what CE's are told into perspective.

There is no future at NCR

Anonymous said...

Sure there is , You just have to like being walked on and taken advantage of. Where else can you go every morning and know your going to get screwed first thing. You just have to stop with the negative thoughts. Life is good at NCR, remember the glass is half full. And when it's all over you can tell your grand children what a wonderful place you gave your soul to. I'm sure they will be proud!

You can start a change from a job to a carreer by signing a card and sending it in.

send me a card

Just stumbled into this website glassdoor.com - that people write in reviews of the company they work for and tell their salary. It is all anonymous. The idea being is that salaries/pay should be known-- and everyone should be paid a fair rate of pay for thier work. The site is free. In order to access the reviews you have to send in a review. Then you can read other people's whole review. If it becomes public knowledge what people are being paid and how they are being treated = new employees may or may not show up to work at the company. Go to
www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/NCR-Reviews-E4212.htm

Calif employees are fed up too! Sent my card signed today!

Anonymous said...

Signed a card last year, have not heard a word this year in the center on the country, maybe theres not enough interest to justify IBEW time through the plains states. But if the big cities get a union, then maybe the company will have no choice but to honor all the CEs and treat them with respect again instead of like a tool thats there for whatever they want to use it for instead of a human being. These managers are like a cancer, they keep growing and sucking the life out of everything around them.

Anonymous said...

Crack Ass, Us oldtimers DIDN'T need no fucking union, they liked us and treated us good, it's you lazy asses that caused your problems, you young fucks don't have a clue how to fight. So I suggest you grow some gonads and change things. Remenber DIP SHIT you have your freedoms because of us "OLD TIMERS"

Voted for the union last year. But with union supporting Obama I can't support cause. NCR IS the less of the two evils.

CUDS said...

To the above poster, You're a Fucking Idiot! It was that jackass Busch and his administration that let assholes like Nuti become overpaid and turn the economy into the Shithole it is now.

Anonymous said...

what an idiot the above poster must be. Sounds like he would like the government setting everybody's salary. must be a unionnnnn idiot.

Anonymous said...

If you want your boss to make all the decisions for you then do nothing, NCR will let you know when they're done with you, don't expect any notice, options or bridge payments you'll be lucky if you get a ride home after you turn in your vehicle. NCR must move fast in this economy and there's no place for old fashioned sentimentality or loyalty (just ask the folks in Dayton OH.) There simply isn't time for management to consider the implications of their decisions and how they impact you is of no concern at all.
Unless you have a contract! (To see ours visit: http://www.ncrce125.com/)
If union membership is as small as NCR would have you believe then how could they have gotten Barack Obama elected even if every union member voted for him. If you can't support a union that would be in the best interest of every CE in this country because you disagree with the union leadership support of a candidate, then how can you support management that was even more supportive of the Democrats.
If you don't think organizing a union would be a good thing for NCR CEs then tell us why. If you do please make it a sensible argument.

This company will never go union, because just like the management, the smaller territories are overlooked. Everyone thinks the company revolves around the big cities and all the decisions are made on that premise. I work in an area that has over 60 Walmarts and yet they say we have all the people needed with 5. They work everyone into the ground and complain about overtime, and when told more people are needed they say we got all the people we need. Even the union cronies ignore the whole middle of the country and only go for East and West coastal areas. The people in the middle are just as fed up as anyone else, but we have no meetings, no contact, nothing. So go ahead and spout out BS on these blogs to make yourself feel better, but, mark my words, Nuti, Wallace, Cheadle and company are going to continue on as is no matter how many people have to get fired to prove them right, and thats if they don't just contract the whole company or move everyone to FLT if the union is voted in some areas

You need to slow down. Take one call at a time. Take your lunch hour. Don't spend all your time running calls; make time for parts, email, paperwork.

They will hire more.

I don't care about more people, I want more money!

Anonymous said...

Hey Need, Do you know how you make a million dollars at NCR? You work a million hours. If you want more money, GET A UNION!

Anonymous said...

the 4th message back has it right. you don't need a unionnnn, you need smart people who'll use the system against itself. do everything by the book and let the system fail. you can't be faulted for doing your job the way it is supposed to be done. the problem is your boss and his boss. they don't want to look bad, which is why they're always trying to find ways around the system, such as, getting you to work for free. if you band together they won't fire all of you and if they did they wouldn't have a case that'll hold up under review. you don't need a unionnnn, you need balls. unionnnns don't do anything for you that you can't do for yourself. if you guys can't band together district by district and swear to not work for free then you deserve a unionnnn because you are worthless. one more thing, take a look, it's the worthless ce who is screaming for the unionnn because he knows without it he's on the way out.

Anonymous said...

I agree, work your parts as you go, just like they say, no matter how many calls you have, take your breaks and an hour for lunch. Come to work on time, go home on time, don't ask for overtime approval and work late to help out when the calls are heavy, make them ask you, then tell them sorry can't do it. If EVERYONE was playing by the same rules and not trying to beat the system, the backlog would pile up and they wouldn't be able to catch up even with the availability guys working long hours. I realize its hard to do this stuff, but they are doing everything they can to squeeze more work out of you without paying for it. Do EXACTLY what the TMs say to do, nothing more, nothing less, and see if that doesn't open some eyes, if not, at least you get a lunch and theres not a thing they can do about it.

Anonymous said...

Sounds to me by the last posts that NCR didn't learn anything from the $12 million law suit. Are they still trying to get something for nothing? If that's the case what stops another law suit from being filed?

Anonymous said...

The simple truth is that without a union there is nothing preventing your termination. There are no guide lines, no review processes and no recourse for you. If you don't like it you can quit. If they don't like something about you you're gone. They pay you as little as possible and if that's not okay with you then go work somewhere else. If you have a union you have a contract that spells out what your job requires what it pays and gives you the security that you can't be terminated without good cause and due process. Anyone that tells you you don't need a union to have that is lying to you.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, something for nothing is the key to success here. they want you to "comute" for 30 minutes before and after your shift even though you are in a company car and not on the clock until your shift begins, check in with control tower before your shift begins. If you check out to lunch, the phone calls and blackberry don't stop, so you spend your "lunch" on the phone and responding to messages, and calls. Of course, as soon as you check out, you get bothered, and heaven forbid you miss an SLA to take a lunch break, NO WAY!! the only way to stop this nonsense is to get together and form a coalition, and get it set that they don't own us, we are human beings and demand to treated as such, and these idiots that manage this place can not do the job without us, but we can damn sure do it without them, and its high time they got the message.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the above poster 100% but take your lunch and turn off your phone & RIM. When your shift starts put your whereabouts as "Checkinig Email, Admin & Parts, then generate a call to cover your time and head out. 1/2 hour before your shift ends head to your locker to ship out defective parts and then head home. It's that simple, any work before or after your shift is OT and make sure you take TWO 15 MINUTE BREAKS A DAY also.

Anonymous said...

You can start before your shift and work past the end of it, do admin on your own time, work through lunch and breaks and bust your butt so your numbers are great. Then you get a few bucks more (when they give out raises) and a better bonus (hopefully) and everything is terrific till someone decides that going forward there will be one CE group and top pay is 42.5K
The best thing you can do to improve your working conditions, your pay and your peace of mind is to send in the card then vote for the union. It's time to make this job better for all the CEs at NCR and the IBEW is willing to help.
Send the card, vote for the union.
You only get to vote if you send the card.

Anonymous said...

if you think a unionnnn will save your job for you when ncr wants you gone then you need some warm milk in a baby bottle because you're too immature to think and act for yourself. ask the uaw members all across this country if the unionnnn saved their job for them. ask the carpenters and plumbers and roofers how the ibew has saved them from unemployment. what in hell makes you think you'll do any better? I hope your sons and daughters are smarter than you.

This is just my perspective, but ...

Since I have been hired, within the last two years, there has been many younger CE's hired. I don't have any arguments with that, as a matter of fact, I am one of the younger CE's. However I have listened to the older and more wiser CE's that I trained under and still train under today.

We can all learn alot from them as we begin our bright new careers with NCR.

Just as I started, NCR veterans had their wages cut significantly, upward of 30%. I entered this job for le$$ than what I was qualified to make I(my fault--no big deal), in hopes of beginning a long, lucrative career in exchange for my skills and services and working hard. I was told that I classified as "entry level" for pay and just felt my hard work would pay off. Today... I'm still making what I started out at.

NCR will force their will on you through micro managing, dictating responsibility and hold you accountable for results. They will get $17/hour from you and leave you breathless.

FLM (and whatever other names they go under) Listening to the veterans (hats off to you all), I wouldn't be surprised if NCR didn't "fund" these youngbuck companies. The worst that could happen is the corporate financial write offs from these failed businesses, right? Well you got it ... the company writes off the small business that it funds to compete with it's own business and still makes a profit at the expense of it's employess? You say, how so? FLM (and whatever other names they go under) are now NCR CE's, working for less monies, that is how.

I'm a young CE, well qualified, knowledgeable and hardworking. I deserve better pay and not ashamed to say so.

Finally, I encourage the younger CE's to listen to the Older CE's. Don't be shy to call them and talk to them. They are a world of knowledge and know-how. Unfortunately, as they get closer to the end of their careers they are not as happy as they thought they would be. After 20 years, even 10 years... it's just sad how we treat this loyalty.

The torch is being passed to the younger CE's and your careers are just beginning. Vote in this union and do away with this "work at will" nonsense. You deserver better than the previous generation of CE's.

Just twenty years ago a CEO made 30 to 40 times what us guys in the trench's make. Now our CEO makes 350 to 400 times what we make. It's time for a revolution and change just like 100 years ago when the Oil Barrons were getting rich and everyone else was poor Unions took over and helped set things straight. It's that time again, send in our card and vote YES for the IBEW.

Anonymous said...

Send in your card, then vote for the union. We've had a union in NY/NJ for 35 years and we won't give it up. Last year NCR wanted to pay us based on what they pay you, it didn't work out completely as they expected. They still have to pay us more, we still have better working conditions and for 2 more years we know what we'll be paid because we have a contract.
You can do it too if you send in your card and then vote for the union.

ok...will do. Lets all do!

DOUBLETIME said...

Yes if you worked on a Sunday or Holiday about 15 Or more years ago NCR paid Doubletime.
Nowadays the only way you get paid Doubletime is if you work over 8 hours on a Holiday.
So if any of you are working Availability this Monday and you work over 8 hours
don't forget it's Doubletime. Management rarely mentions this and many a C.E. has been
screwed over the years. Send in your card and vote yes for the IBEW, maybe we can get
Doubletime back!!

I was doing some research today about Labor Day...Labor Day was brought about by hard working men and women that believed in Trade Unionism. A few articles I read revolved around alot of the issues brought up on this blog such as overtime, 8 hour workdays amoung a few. The need for Unions was brought on by the ways companies treated workers and the attitude of "if you don't like it go somewhere else". There are only a few companies that believe in treating employees fairly and those are ones where the workers don't need a union since they have alot of things simalar to union contracts. Years ago NCR was run in this way when the family owned it but as it grew and became a large corporation we are all just numbers and are treated like a commodity. We as CE's provide a service to the customer and NCR and we should have a voice, that is why I sent I sent in my card and will be voting yes when the election takes place.

Lets do it together!! We can win!!!!

Anonymous said...

The future of your life at NCR is now they are sending people home when things are slow so they can get 40 hours whenever there are calls to run. In other words, even though the "black book" says otherwise. The managers are going to try to say they can set you up to work any 40 hours they want you to work to avoid overtime, kind of like being on call without the pay. So you may come in for 3 hours in the morning, they send you home, then call you back at 400 pm to work til 900 pm to "make up" for the hours you didn't work earlier. You may think its not going to happen, but just wait, if we don't unite and tell them enough is enough, then they will run our lives more than ever, and the heck with ever making plans to do anything unless you are on vacation, and then if your stupid enough to take your phone, they will bother you even when your on vacation too.

According to Yahoo, GM is going to restore the pay cuts it gave to some "white collar" workers saying that morale is bad and that they need to retain workers and keep them happy, also saying that employee morale is really important as they are starting to launch products and rebuild the business. I wonder if Nuti knows anyone at GM and would listen to reason. If you have happy people, they are willilng to do a lot more than the driven person, the constant harrassment around here is getting so old, it takes a lot to get up and go to work, much less have a positive attitude to the customer. OOPS, did I mention the customer, I forgot they were taken out of the service equation when they started making CEs SLA machines and parts shippers, the heck with "customer" service, just make the numbers work out.

if you think gm is restoring pay cuts to raise morale you're smoking something illegal. they're doing it because they're spending yours and my money and it's not costing them a dime. before long they'll go out of business and all that money will have been lost. keep in mind, things happen not because of market values or because of laws, things happen because the money and the politicians who contro this country want it to happen. you and your pie in the sky unionnnn will have no effect on anything, period. you'll never be in control, the unionnnn will never be in control, only the money men will be in control. some of you guys are going to die of heart attacks and ulcers over things you cannot control now and never will. if those unionnnners in ny/nj think they are in control then they don't know shit about nothing.

In NY/NJ we don't control the company and NCR doesn't comtrol our lives. For a long time NCR gave perks to to the non union branches to keep them happy and union free. Everything changed two years ago and still most of NCR remains union free. We have a contract in NY/NJ, we all got a pay increase July 1 and still NCR remains mostly union free. Our contract clearly defines hours of work, shifts & time off. You guys still don't have a union! What are you waiting for? Send in your card, then vote for the union.

Employer Liability for An Employee Accident Occurring During Commute Home? said...

Employer Liability for An Employee Accident Occurring During Commute Home?

A California Court of Appeal ruled this week that an employer may be held vicariously liable for injuries caused by an employee in a car accident occurring during the employee’s commute home from a business conference. In Jeewarat v. Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc., an employee returning home from a three-day business conference was driving his usual commute route when he was involved in a car accident that injured three pedestrians. The injured pedestrians sued the driver’s employer, Warner Bros., seeking to hold Warner Bros. responsible for the alleged negligence of its employee. The trial court ruled against the plaintiffs and granted summary judgment in favor of Warner Bros., holding that under the “going and coming rule” an employer cannot be held vicariously liable for accidents occurring during an employee’s commute to or from the workplace. The plaintiffs appealed.
The appellate court disagreed with the trial court and reversed the ruling in favor of Warner Bros. The appellate court held that the going and coming rule did not apply because the employee was not engaged in his normal commute home from the workplace at the time of the accident. Instead, the employee was returning home from a business conference, which was more akin to a “special errand” for the employer. Even though the employee drove by his office and took his normal commute route home from there after the conference, the court held that this was not enough to bring the case within the going and coming rule and preclude vicarious liability on the part of Warner Bros. for the alleged negligence of its employee. Under the special errand doctrine, the employee is considered to be acting within the course and scope of employment until he arrives at his destination (home) after completing the special errand.
It would not be surprising if Warner Bros. petitions the California Supreme Court for review of this case. In the interim, California employers should be aware of the potential for liability for commute time accidents by employees attending business-related conferences and events.

Well that's interesting don't you think??

CALL ON YOUR RIM AND THEN HEAD TO YOUR 1ST CALL. AT THE END OF THE DAY YOUR LAST STOP SHOULD BE AT YOUR LOCKER TO SHIP OUT DEFECTIVE PARTS. GET THERE AT 4:30 PM TO GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO GET IT DONE THEN HEAD HOME AT 5PM.
AND BE SURE AND TAKE A 1 HOUR LUNCH AND TWO 15 MINUTE BREAKS.
ANY WORK BEFORE OR AFTER YOUR SHIFT IS OT.

And you don't think that was done on purpose? Get a CLUE, NCR gave you 24% just so they wouldn't have to give you a RIF package. It's called " Let's SCREW him one more time"

Imagine that a couple of CEs got caught fiddling arond with call records and got fired. I can't imagine that the TM knew anything about that happening. What they leave out is that if they hadn't lied about things, they would have been fired long ago, even though Nutti and company have everyone "sign off" on being ethical, We are still told to lie almost daily to keep our jobs. Got a call on a 7X24 customer? say we need a part that we already have, ATM call? Say no security is available. Even though this "ethical" company takes the customers money for extended service and makes SLA promises, the local management needs to make the bonus, so no overtime, which means lie about the calls and get fired from the higher ups. You know full well your TM is not going to back you up when you tell them you were told to lie. Also, if you really listen to the ethics thing every year you are supposed to report your manager for telling you to lie, so forget about that arguement, its all the CEs fault for not listening to the bug guys. So its play along to get along. Good Luck..

MY CAREER WITH NCR said...

It was a few weeks after my 19th birthday that I started working for NCR. The National Cash Register Company was familiar to me having visited their pavilion at the NY Worlds Fair and at the supermarket seeing a guy fixing one of the registers. I was awestruck that such a great company would hire me and pay me more to start than I was making when I left my job at a factory. There was a lot of grunt work and dirty jobs that I had to do, being the first person hired in two years but I was still happy because I wanted to fix machines.
About a month after starting this job I was spending the weekend at my friend's family's beach house, I told his grandfather about my new job and the man started asking about the benefits and pension plan and job security. He said that it was time to start planning for retirement and if I always kept that goal in mind I would be ready when the time came. There never was another chance to talk to him again but I didn't forget that conversation. The thought of working for NCR for 46 years was overwhelming but I always remembered the advice.
The Teamsters began organizing NY/NJ during my first year at NCR I wasn't too sure if having a union was a good idea, I went to the meetings, asked questions, talked to the other guys but I still wasn't sure about anything. It seemed like much of what the company was saying didn't make sense, it seemed like the older guys that supported the union had good reasons for doing it. In the end I made up my mind that with the union there would be a more reliable and secure career path. I sent in my card and voted for the union. Things were not always wonderful during my time at NCR but because of some good advice and the help of the Teamsters I was able to accept NCR's severance offer last year and retire 11 years ahead of schedule. I don't think it would've been possible if I hadn't joined the union.

Anonymous said...

Gee, I took the severance pay and retired years ahead of schedule, too. I am doing quite well financially, still not drawing SS because I don't need it yet to live. I'm totally retired, not working anywhere. Now, hold on, here's the kicker: I didn't need the teamsters help. Can you believe it, less than 40 years at ncr and fully retired without ever paying dues to the teamsters or the ibew or the cwa or any of them.

Does Nuti Have Bodyguards? said...

It's amazing.
I read a short poem at one point.. it said
"What kind of a leader are you?
Look at your people.
Are they following you?
Or are they chasing you?

To the last sentence I add "are they chasing you with ROCKS?"

The vision of an angry mob carrying rocks and running after a leader sounds so cave man era. A leader should never drive his/her people to the brink of barely surviving and therefore behaving like cavemen.

Nuti have body guards? anyone ever notice if he does?

I'm wondering if the settlement money is really going to be paid out or not, I thought it was supposed to be september. The only way to get a raise or a bonus is to sue these people, its obvious that a union is never going to get voted in nationwide and if its not nationwide then the managers will go get training to cover union strike like they did in the 90s, or the compnay will decide to make FLT the only service dept and fire all the NCR people that won't work for slave wages. Remember, theres no skills required to do this job, just parts swappers, all you gotta do is listen to the Cheadles and Nutis.

Cheatem, and Nutjob say you don't need skills, because they have been getting by without any, so they don't understand why a CE has to be skilled!

To the person asking about the settlement money:
This is Michelle, I filed the lawsuit. Yes the money is going to be paid out. I attended the final hearing for the settlement and the judge gave his approval.I was told by my attorney at that time, the checks should start coming out in the first part of October.
So anyday now.

I don't know where you heard about September, but it's a very good example of why it's so easy to get inaccurate info.
This will be an imperative time during the CE's organizing movement, because NCR/Jackson Lewis are going to start their smear campaign full force now.
Southern California has filed a petition and will have an election scheduled soon.
You will need to have someone to trust, who can give you the other side of the debate. I hope every CE knows, I would be happy to be that resource to them.
Please call me anytime, to ask questions about the union or the lawsuit. If I don't have the info you need, I will find out who does.
I have met so many of the Southern Calif. CE's since leaving NCR and will hopefully be able to meet every single one by the time of the vote.
Remember: I'm here and available to keep you informed and give you accurate information about the IBEW.

Looks like its Octoberfest again. Just got word they are laying off a couple of hundred CE's. God forbid we get rid of a few over paid executives. NCR always figures the way to make the company better is to get rid of the people doing the real work

Anonymous said...

Oh really? So where was it that you,"Just got the word?" Maybe it was your office or headquarters where you work?
I'd like to hear of any territory suffering from a lack of work? We keep taking on new contracts, more calls to be run, not even enough CE's to do all the installs especially in the Washington area.
Care to share who it was that "just gave the word?"(not to mention we all know damn well that no one with that kind of authority would have been working on a Saturday when you posted!) I'd like to know just where the hell you get off writing such an irresponsible announcement that you back up without a shred of detail on. I can't imagine that someone who would write something so irresponsible could be anything except NCR management or maybe an RTSS being used to do dirty work.
"God forbid we get rid of a few over paid executives" That sounds more like wishful thinking
then anything else. People also used to say, "God save the Queen!"
Hey, Wait a minute??...
Bill Nutti, is that YOU???

Anonymous said...

I haven't heard of any layoffs for ce's around here. We actually hired some last year. We are still short-handed and must pay contractors or overtime to try to do the installs but what else is new. And of course I see no raises on the horizon any time soon so people with experience will be leaving to go elsewhere-like wincor. Who could blame them? If i was old enough to retire I sure would be looking elsewhere. The only thing left to take from me is vacation so what incentive is there to stay? Every year they take something else..

We want some degree of security that allows us to plan for our future. We're concerned about safety. We help each other to make NCR successful and that makes things better for all of us. And lastly we support your efforts to organize and believe it's the best hope for all CEs at NCR.

How many of you think you can write your own contract and why do you believe NCR will honor it?

Anonymous said...

This is comical. I would like to read more but I work for NCR so I therefore need to get my GPS moving. If I was a manager, I would need to get my blue tooth in my ear so I could start a day of worthless conference calls and try to justify why management gets such a huge piece of the pie while the CE's are out there striving for customer satisfaction and trying to keep their attitude upbeat.

Anonymous said...

Kind of funny, we have all the CEs we need, but there are people flying all over the place, plus contractors to do installs because of "resource issues". Thats managerspeak for, not enough people. But when the SLAs aren't met and no one has time to work parts, and overtime is out of sight, we have all the people we need. Makes you wonder, if they would hire more people, they would probably save money in the long run, but then they wouldn't have a reason to hire a manager for every 10 CEs, and have GPS in the vans to track them. And they might even have some satisfied customers. Go figure.

Anonymous said...

Well I got "terminated on OCT 2 because I "failed" my pip that I was put on as soon as I camer back from 4.5 months of medical leave. Also while I was off my manager kept telling me to sat on it as long as I could because they wanted to cut persons in my area (BTW I wourk in a 10000 square mile area with 4 ce's) but now they are down to 3 ce's and they dont care.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't suprise me that this company would let someone go after a medical leave, they quit caring about people years ago. All you are is a number on a spreadsheet, and that number better be good. As far as you being in a large territory, that matters even less to them, they make all the metrics as if all the customers are in a city and close together, if you are in a large geography with lots of travel, they would prefer to get rid of that business because it costs to much to support those places. Just like in Canada where they contracted those areas out because they felt they couln't afford full time people up there, and if the service level goes dowm, well too bad. All the company cares about is the execs getting the big bucks, and how they go about it doesn't matter to them, they would fire us all if they could figure out to. Your one day away from being in the crapper, so you better prepare.

Anonymous said...

If it wasn't for the use of contractors, this company would go out of business, only thing is, the contractor get to pick and choose what they will and won't do, the rest goes to the full time people. That seems kind of backwards to me, traet outsiders better then the grass roots people that work no matter what. I think any union contract should limit the use of contractors, of make it where they can't use them at all, that would make them hire enough people to get the job done. I am so tired of hearing that we have all the people we need, then when a project that needs 3 people emerges, theres not enough people to get it done without outsourcing it to contractors, making the lone NCR tech the only person that knows what needs to be done, and the jobs being bid like they can be done in a couple of hours when they take a whole day or all night.

you're all wasting your time. in ten years ncr will have gotten out of the hardware business altogether. the few products being built and sold by the company are already done cheaper elsewhere. ncr would rather be in the consulting and service (managing sites, not fixing hardware) business. if you're really thinking ten years down the road don't look to the unionnn, look to higher education. if you can't do that sort of work then you'll need to change fields, and the sooner the better. go ahead and write it down: within ten years ncr will be totally out of the hardware business.

No way did they get mailed that day and we still haven't gotten them. We're getting poorer by the minute. Lost my house, NCR is useless when it comes to giving out correct information on things like our Pension/401K program and loans against it, h.r.issues too. You could be living on the street and they wouldn't ok a discontinuance of your loan (that you took from yourself!!), I got a lot of different and wrong info was told I could get my loan payments stopped and then in the end told NO. I was told with hardships it could be done. I jumped thru a lot of hoops and got nowhere. Hey, they're sorry and they feel bad for us but there's nothing they can do....... It stinks. And good luck trying to speak to someone, the correct someone that could actually help you. UGGHH!!!!!! I say everyone start emailing and calling the contact #'s on the website asking "Where are our checks please?" The phone # is 866-535-1623 don't have the email address right now.
Hang in everybody! And we should all be taking lunch, doing paperwork and emails during workday hours-that's what this lawsuit is all about!! We all need to do it for NCR to provide enough workforce for our workload. So everybody get on it!!

I heard that the IBEW pulled their petition to vote in Arizona? Was it due to the lack of IBEW support from the Ce's in that area? can anyone elaborate on the backout?

Anonymous said...

I think it funny, at the begining of the lawsuit we were told the settlement was 12,000,000 to be divided between all the people that were screwed for working through lunches. Now, according to the website, the settlement fund is 5,328,000, that either means we are screwed again, or the lawyers got real rich courtesy of our sweat. Sounds like they work for NCR execs too. Not to mention that NCR managers are STILL making people work off the clock to get the work done because they refuse to admit there are not enough people out here to get the work done. I say screw it, do just what you have to, and if thats not enough, they can't fire everyone and leave it to the RTSS's to do. I guess its time for Cheadle and Wallace and company to fit their hands for a toolkit and get a company van. NOT!! And one more point, they are still flying people all over the US to do installs at great expense, and contracting retirees, more evidence that there is not enough people, where did these guys go to school for crying out loud, you can't keep screwing people to try to get results, eventually, people retaliate.

I just talked to the company sending out the settelment. It was supposed to mailed last week, but as always stuff got mixed up. They had to reaclulate taxes and stuff.
He told me that they are shooting for sending the checks out Monday the 26th, so you should get them that week. If you have questions please go this web site

How much am I going to get? They said $2649 minimum, is that after tax?

Anonymous said...

you should have got a letter stating how much your going to get. if not call and they wil let you know

Anonymous said...

Fire Nuti, I just called on your check size it's $26.49 NOT $2649. You must of ot the decimal messed up. Maybe that's why you work for this ruthless company. Even I'll be gone soon.

Here wo go again, the stock estimates were higher than earnings, so a 5-10% reduction in force is the answer to it all. How much more do they think the people here can stand?? I'm sure nuti will soft pedal the whole thing on his webcast today, but, then the lower managers get to do the dirty work and fire the high paid guys and tell them how its all to stay competitive in the market. I hope they get me out of here, I'll take a package and go quietly into the sunset.

nuti is killing ncr said...

Why does Nutjob Nuti still have a job?

Anonymous said...

The reason Nuti is still around is because he has a board of directors that just say yes to any crazy crap he says. Also, he has a contract that they would have to buy him out of to get rid of him, unlike us, that they can fire at the drop of a hat and we are out of luck, think about that.I am fron a small town, theres no hope for us, we have to depend on the big cities to get things done and they trickle down to us, so come on you guys, its at least time to try something different, we are all tired of working like dogs to make the execs richer while we stay the same...

Anonymous said...

Woah! Sure is whole lot of guys bitching bout ther checks. i just wanna no how many of them stood up to bitch about stuff during the lawsuit? prob none!
hope you'll enjoy that money- shouldv'e ben start to change round here. really could of, would of and should of been so much more.now your as greedy as the rest of management-
too bad!
some one else went and got it for you- now yor complaining?be sure to pat the other ce's on the back when your stickin em with the knife! foolish litle ce

Anonymous said...

to the above poster---yes, some of us were involved in this lawsuit. and all we really want to know is when the checks will be mailed. just like everything with the company. just give us the truth instead of lying to us. most of us aren't a bunch of kids. when we are lied to again and again it only makes us mistrust management even more..

CUDS said...

COME ON FOLKS SEND IN YOUR CARDS THEN GET YOUR BUDDIES AND CO-WORKERS TO DO THE SAME! A UNION WILL ONLY BE AS STRONG AS ITS WORKERS. THE IBEW IS LIKE A LAW FIRM WHO WILL REPRESENT US BUT IF WE'RE NOT "STRONG & DETERMINED" WE WON'T GET ANYWHERE. WE ARE GETTING THERE BUT STILL DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CARDS TO FILE WITH THE NLRB, WE NEED 65% OF THE WORKFORCE TO PARTICIPATE. LETS GET THIS DONE!!

Anonymous said...

If you do nothing then nothing will improve. Send in your card, at least NCR might get the message that you're taking an interest in what's going on. Then again if you're reading this you've likely sent your card in or decided never to do so. If you want to vote for the union or even if you just want to send another message to NCR you'll need to get involved and convince other CEs to send in their cards. Help the other CEs to get involved and stay involved don't let NCR make all your decisions for you. After all how has complaining been working for you?

Anonymous said...

You people never cease to amaze me. ONE brave person goes out on a limb to try and right a wrong and succeeds while most of you sat on your scared asses and did nothing, now that she got results you all want to complain because it is not happening fast enough for you. Don't forget this is a ONE TIME payout and for most of you it will be gone in a heart beat and you will be right back where you are now. Quit your cry baby whinning about "WHERE"S MY CHECK" If your that destitute get another job.

Anonymous said...

if, as CUDS says, "a union will only be as strong as its workers" then you may as well stop now. you've already demonstrated how strong you are. you aren't!

Anonymous said...

To above comment:
Really, then why has this gone so far already? Huh?
It takes a strong, and dedicated person to last at NCR as a CE.

Anyone else wondering why NCR needs 6-8 hrs of meetings to give us their side, but in just 15 mins on your front porch, talking to the IBEW has already done,
what alone we couldn't?

They are finally hearing us.

BUT...
Why are they listening ??

They must be afraid we are going to make a huge mistake like agreeing to pay $40 a month in dues? Yes, truly a crisis in the making of which we need protection from! LOL

Humm, or could they just be trying to give to us too much information so we give up and say, "oh just forget it! It's becoming to much of a hassle."
Not to mention who has the time to get the other side when they make us attend these meetings every week, then spend the rest of the week catching up?
Now, Repeat 3X?
Oh Yeah, they care...about them.

Is FLT going away...or rather, getting absorbed into NCR as it should have never been seperate, just another tier of rookie CE's? Why have two sets of management and HR and payroll and whatever else they waste money on? FLT and NCR techs are working on many of the same customers almost at the same time with very little communication.. neither one are making much money...a stupid poor economic idea to begin with. Heard rumor that they may finally abandon it?

Anonymous said...

flt is already gone in a lot of areas they screwed up way more than they fixed. so it was a relief to have them gone...

Anonymous said...

Has anyone heard anything about NCR taking over 7-11 service again?

Anonymous said...

I agree, bringing the FLT techs into the NCR fold would eliminate a lot of unnecessary cost, but that should be obvious to the hords of upper managers we have. Makes you wonder if they don't want to keep FLT seperate to keep the threat alive with the NCR people being moved to FLT and taking away more pay and benefits, like they did in the 90s. Just a thought, when you work with the bottom feeders we have as management, you gotta think like them to try to get an answer.

Anonymous said...

fyi-for all those wondering. I spoke with the people handling the teeter settlement this morning. they are cutting checks now and sending them out today and friday..They are coming from minnesota so depending on where you are in the country it should be next week somedtime when you get them..

OH THANK GOD Now I can buy food.

Anonymous said...

I'll believe it when I see it. I have heard so many dates that this has become crazy.

Anonymous said...

NCR is paying HUGE MONEY to have all these meetings with Jackson Lewis running the show from the shadows. NCR has had approx 9hrs worth of meetings to give their side and the union was lucky if they got 15 min on your front porch. That's fair.

Certainly you have all stopped to realize that NCR with access to the data they are showing you about what CE's are making. Is there a reason they haven't given you any of this in writing?
I'm guess I shouldn't be surprised that CE's sit there and say nothing, while the dog and pony shows goes on. "Oh yes,NCR cares about you, and the union is a business and just wants your money, the union CE's make less than the non-union CE's?"

That must explain why I'm still getting email with questions like, "Can the union help me? I'm scheduled to work 22 days with only 2 days off?" Can Vicky help with that, since she can't answer questions about availability? She writes the damn CE handbook!! She's not even able to explain what her own words mean? Gerald telling a group that the majority of them are Zone 3! Not one of them, qualifies as a zone 3, but lets compare to what they are making, and compare that with what teamsters are making before they got their raises. Sounds perfectly fair to me.

I guess it's a good thing that NCR is holding all these meetings and spending all this money to protect YOU from making less. (Too bad CE 3's didn't have such a wonderful godmother to help them)

Hummm?? It all makes so much sense, coming from the same people who claimed that they couldn't afford to give you raises while the CE and 3 others got 10 million in bonuses?

CALL THEIR BLUFF! VOTE YES! LET'S NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT, DEMAND TO SEE THIS DATA THEY ARE SHOWING. OTHERWISE, WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

THE CARDS ARE ON THE TABLE. THEY CLEARLY FEEL YOU ARE TOO WEAK OR HAVE THE STRENGTH TO DO IT.

IF NOTHING ELSE: REMEMBER THAT NCR'S POSITION IS THEY ARE OPPOSED TO THE UNION BECAUSE THE CE'S WILL MAKE LESS??

DO YOU HEAR THE RING OF TRUTH IN THAT??

$14 is a lot better than $11. I love this company. I will never vote for a union. In a few years the pay might go up, but at least its up from before.

"$14 is a lot better than $11. I love this company. I will never vote for a union. In a few years the pay might go up, but at least its up from before."

What are you talking about? You work for $14? Are you crazy? What kind of loser works for $14 an hour and thinks thats great? You must have been a WalMart door greeter! I hate NCR, and I hate what they have done to the CE's, and I'm voting for the union!

Anonymous said...

Are you guys nuts? 14 bucks an hour is peanuts. There are CE2 in the union making $20-25 bucks an hours. Shove that 14 bucks up your ass. I an voting for the union! I under stand that the Canada IBEW guys are making even more money!!!

Albert said...

I spoke to a guy that was once a teamster in NY/NJ and took a transfer elsewhare and wishes he never left the security blanket of the union!

ncr sucks said...

I was making $26 an hour as a CE4, that was midpoint, I didn't feel overpaid for the job I did. Then I was rebanded to a CE3, froze my pay, still made $26 a hr, but could never get a raise. Then they dropped me to a CE2, and I make a little more than $20, I do about half the work I used to, so they screwed themselves!

Anonymous said...

Right now the guys in the union make more money than those who are not. That's even after subtracting the dues they pay. The guys in the union have their shifts defined in writing, their safety concerns addressed in writing, and protection from unfair treatment in writing. You can get that too or you can continue to deny that the contract exists.

Anonymous said...

Then I have a question, how would a union work in a right to work state, like those in the south central part of the US? I don't work on either the northeast or the southern California area. I work in the south central area, deep in the heart of Wal-Mart ville, and not only that, I'm in a group where no one can trust the other. And we sure as hell don't trust management. I found the post where the guy making $14 an hour and loving this company absolutely absurd. That has to be management in a plant.

Anonymous said...

In a right to work state it's kind of like welfare, some reap the benefits that others worked hard to get. Most members in those states voluntarilly pay dues and support the union. It's sad to think that someone would take something they didn't earn but life isn't always fair.

MORE CUTS said...

Have you looked at your Benifits package yet? It's going to cost you more for less again this year. NCR has dumped Cigna and switched to US Healthcare with higher deuctables and maximum "out of pocket" limits. Also almost all HMO's have been eliminated except in 4 states. Oh' yeah, we don't need a union, NOT!

Anonymous said...

Thats fine, at $14 an hour, Im kicking butt! I'll never need another raise again.

once you go union, youll never go back! said...

I was a CE3 making $33 an hour in a union contract. Then we were screw by a arbatrator who sided with the company and rebanded us without a chance to rebut his decision which was made on some false info he was fed. Then we learn that ce3 still exist in Canada. We now have a leg to stand on and we wil be reopen a legal case against the company. CE3 will be back! you can bet on it. This is only possible because we have a union. You guys need to get one signed in now.

cant afford 2 live said...

I'm dropping all my insurance this year, can't afford it on what NCR pays.

Anonymous said...

Doing all this cutting is the companys way of getting the settlement money back, you know, the settlement we have yet to get. We get cut and the executives reap the rewards and don't produce a darn thing, what a country!!

Anonymous said...

HAHAHA LMFAO
So you think NCR is "Getting the settlement money back" by cutting??

If you only realized how much they really stole from you!!
Have you not stopped for even a minute, to ask yourself," Why hasn't anything changed since the lawsuit and settlement?" Hmmmm...??
Could it be, that maybe NCR can still "save"(aka cheat) you out of a whole lot more than $10 million if everything remains the same?

Sued, and Settled for $10 mill and no changes?? Seems like sound business practices right??

Why else have an idiot who can't even explain the availability policy, or under-stand the CALIFORNIA Overtime Laws continue (yes-even now)to WRITE THE CE HANDBOOK!!!Even after paying $10 million!!
Since she doesn't understand policies the very policies she's supposed to make sure you understand, there must be a reason why..??

MONEY!! The best incentive and the only thing management cares about at NCR. Not to mention the most logical reason, there has been no real change.
MONEY!! You are working for it, and they are keeping it.
Here's another pandora's box...How about expenses? I'll ask, How many CE's have been screwed out of expenses? How many had Amex cards that were suspended or revoked because NCR failed to pay them?

The truth can be hard to find, but the question is that once you do find it, what are you going to do about it??

YOU KNOW THE TRUTH!
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT??
Stick your head in the sand or
Stand up for yourselves, each other, and your legal rights?

IT'S ALL ON YOU NOW.

To the above poster, its been about money since they were part of ATT in the 90s. All concern for the employees went out the window then, but it has gotten worse, and Nuti and company get richer and bring on a few more of their buddies to be a vice president of something for 6 figure incomes at good ole NCR. As far as expenses, I have never had problems, but it does seem like the crap they require for paying he bills has gotten tougher to satisfy, and I know others who have had trouble. I wonder if that trashes your credit record if they fail to pay out, that sounds like another lawsuit pending out there. Afterall, you send in your expenses, and your manager approves them, why shouldn't that be enough. You think maybe they don't trust the junior mamnagers..hmmm..Also the CE handbook hasn't been worth the paper its written on since bolenburger put it out several years ago, they make changes to it to say what they want it to say, and make it harder to understand. And since Cheatle has taken over, its just a shambles. Its funny how all the people in charge of services never have been a CE in this new environment and they make the rules that you and I have to play by. I live in a small town, no unions here, plus a right to work state, so we are dependant on what happens in the coastal areas, and it sounds like the companies going to get to enough new hires and company guys to not get a vote in again this time. Its only a matter of time before the unions are gonna say NCR is full of a bunch of complainers that just want to vent and not change anything. Then the unions will turn away and that will be the end, either go to work at walmart of retire. I hope I am old enough by the time that happens, or I will have to become a cart pusher, thats all NCR seems to think I am qualified to do other than stay here and take it.

Take it from a union ce her in he NE. You are right by saying that ncr CEs are a bunch of complainers. I can not understand how you can have all these CEs who who are sooooo unhappy yet refuse to step-up to the union. I have almost 200 coworkers who would not have it any other way. I bet you in Canada in the IBEW would say the same!!! Anyone care to bet Im right? BTW "HOW BOUT THEN YANKEES">>>got to love it! Go Yankees

The CE's of NCR Rock!! said...

Yaaa Hooo for All of YOU!!
You are so very welcome Louisiana!!
It's truly been an honor and my pleasure.
Now the CE's from every state are finally getting back what belonged to them all along.
I hope they know they deserve so much more.
More dignity, more respect, more of a voice.

BUT MOST OF ALL-
THEY DESERVE THE TRUTH !!

That's something they aren't getting out here in California right now.
Who knew that HR worked part time as magicians? One illusion after another. Not to mention the straight out lying that's been going on. It's absolutely shameless. But CE's are catching on and checking the facts. They are calling the NLRB and getting some shocking answers about what NCR is telling them.

How someone could possibly think they have heard both sides, when NCR has taken 10 hrs of meetings, while they gave the union 15 minutes on the front porch.

My goal was to help all the CE's to get some real changes.
The lawsuit couldn't do it.
(but I hope it helped out some)
The IBEW can!!

(so i wrote a little poem)
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CE'S:
If you want the best,
Put IBEW to the test.
Just Vote Yes.

P.S.- I'll look forward to accepting your offer as soon as I can make it over there.

You Deserve More!! said...

Yes, there are still CE 3's in Canada. If fact they are safely covered by a contract and represented by the IBEW since 1974.

Kind of makes you wonder....
Is there anything else NCR isn't telling you about??
