CLASS ACTIONS ARE SWEET!

Cablevision has agreed to pay $400,000 in back wages . . . .
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. must pay $78.47 million in damages . . . .
IBM has agreed to settle the case for a total of $65 million . . . . . .
IBM Settles Pension Lawsuit, plaintiffs to receive benefit of $300 million . . . .

BUT UNIONS ARE THE NEAT!

Unions represent the whole workforce so that they can act in unison (solidarity)
to accomplish workers' goals of Legal Action and Political Action AND Class Action!

International Unions have Administrative, Legal, and Media Departments
that can do all the work for you (it's called DUES ACTION).

Like Frank Sinatra sang in his classic tune "Love & Marriage"

. . . . "you can't have one without the OTHER"

I really struggle to understand the mind of a person who would
contemplate "Class Action" but condemn "Union Action" ?????

GET CRACKIN', TIME IS A WAISTIN'

From: FLSA Suit Plantiff and Union Supporter
Regarding the timing of Class Action Suit:

I believe that the suit is to recover what the CE's are already owed (lunches, breaks, conference calls before shift, unpaid OT,ect)

I believe we need the IBEW Union to protect us all going forward and give us a voice.

Although,I could have filed with the California labor board for what I believe I am owed,
I WANTED MORE THAN THAT.

I want real change for all of us and to make NCR stop using their payroll practices on all the CE's from coast to coast.

I had not heard of the union movement happening on the east coast at that time.

After meeting with the attorney, I decided to go forward with the suit to fight what I believe to be wrong.

The next evening I was feeling anxious if I had made the right decision or if I had just signed myself right out of a job that I love.

That was when I recieved the first text message about
"NCR's Greed has taken its toll" on my phone.

I knew I made the right choice and I wasn't alone. Talk about perfect timing!!

I pledge to fight till the end for every CE and what's fair and just.

Vote yes for the UNION!!
Vote yes for a future!!

I would like to thank everyone who has taken a stand for themselves and their fellow coworker.

Remember: You are not alone.

"From: FLSA Suit Plantiff and Union Supporter - April 13, 2008 8:36 PM"

I truly admire your courage and commitment to this Class Action Suit (and fighting for what you believe in). This is the "stuff" that great Trade-Unionism is made of.

Are you posting just FYI or do you need the support of all NCR CEs? I feel that most of us (both Union and non-Union) can relate to being abused by NCR and would join
this cause. Will we be contacted by the FLSB or do we have to submit our names to be added to your suit?

Like in WW2, we need to open as many "Fronts" as possible to "cripple" Goliath.

Anonymous said...

I have never seen anything like this HATRED and DISDAIN that the CEs
have for their employer - NCR. This has been building for years and now,
the last "straw" has "broken" our backs simultaneously. It will be very
interesting to monitor how "truth" will triumph of tyranny.

Steve,

What do we do when the company comes after us for trying to organize the union?
It has not happened to me yet. But I read it was happening to someone who posted about 50 messages ago.

Report them to the NLRB, it's illegal for NCR to threathen, harass, or terminate you. We will win this battle.

Anonymous said...

Good news all! The Northeast division is a fw votes away from contacting the NLRB. Looks like were going union guys! Hooray! We will be having the vote. I believe this will help all the other parts of the country trying to go union! We are going to be one big USA union!

Anonymous said...

C'mon...Look at the northeast. Just a few cards away from a vote. Then it's smooth sailing for them. They will get to negoitate when NYC goes in june. We can do the same. Now that NCR has more than 1 market to worry about, It will be easier to get the company to come to their senses!!! Lets help ourselves... Send your cards in..I don't want to leave NCR. Lets make this a cool place to work again!!!

Talk to your coworkers. Get them to call and get cards. Better yet make a stand you call and get a handful of cards. Get them to your area. Get their address and send it to Bobby. He will get them the information. The power of word of mouth works only when someone is talking.
This entire campaign will only work if individuals network and make it happen.

DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND!!!!
LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR US!!!!

IF YOU DO NOTHING IT IS GUARANTEED NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

According to the last email by nutty a productivity analyst is being brought in to evaluate the company and make permanent changes. Get your cards in or we may be phased out.

FROM THE HORSES MOUTH:
Some, if not all, of the RTSS people have been notified to prepare for NY strike duty beginning June 29th. Take it from there!
Why did the company cut our pay to low end work wages but then take on high end work like Cisco Telepresence and Polycom? (And not pay us more)

In the past, when companies implemented "across the board" pay cuts, it was all over the news. We get nailed with huge pay cuts and none of it hits the news. I think it's about time we go public with our story.
The World needs to know what a "piece of shit" company this really is. I know! I know! Some Dayton-head will get on here and say "if you don't like it then leave". UP YOURS'

The best thing we can do is to organize.

The thing that will piss off Dayton the most, is to organize.

What will cost the company the most in terms of $$$$, ($600.00/hr for union busting law firms) is to organize.
What will teach other companies NOT to do what NCR did to their employees, is to organize.

Don't get mad ---- get even!
ORGANIZE - IBEW - TEAMSTERS

C'mon People...we cant sit back and watch NCR tear us apart..we need to get the union online. the NE is nearly on board. there rest need to get the cards in. Some of us will be out of a job come July 1 and most of us who will be left behind are going to suffer. If we get the union online, we can stop NCR and the Union Busters in their tracks. There will not be enough RTSSs to handle the work. Dont be suprised if NCR trys to promote a few more RTSSs to up those numbers. To get more coverage. But if all regions sign up with Union, it will be impossible to cover all territories. Lets all stand up for whats right. please sign the cards and get them in. My livelihood, Your livelihood, and All Our livelihoods depend on it! THIS FROM A NJ CE WHO NEEDS THIS JOB. Yes I am in a union member who needs nothing but the support of his fellow CEs. For years it has always been US against you. By that I means UNION AGAINIST NON-UNION. Its a thin line between the two. The difference is Company can do what they want with the NON-Union CEs and with the UNION CEs, the company must ask permission first (negotiate with the union board). The company has always made us out to be the bad guys. Now we all know who the bad guys really are. The union didnt take your pay away, or demote you, or threaten the RTSSs to put on there marching shoes to NY if there is a strike. Lets make one thing perfectly clear. I will not sit back and let someone come in here and take my job away from me and my coworkers. Maybe I shouldnt have said that publicly but I am sitting here with my bloodpressure going thru the ceiling. I needed to vent. The bottom line is that the union sounds like a scary thing to some of you but the reality is that in the 23 yrs that I have been in the union, there has been nothing but good things to come from it. The rest need the same security blanket. You all pay heavily for health insurance for you and your families. You also buy insurance to protect your autos and homes. Why not for your jobs. Please dont let this opportunity pass you by. You all can benefit from it. We can all benefit together. The only way to survive this Tsumumi is to join a union. It wont be the Teamsters but its all about representation. There is power in numbers and the UNION is the only anwser. I wish I could publicily post this so that all The CEs around the world could read this and all our posts on this blog but this company wont stand for it. Let all your co-workers know about this blog by word of mouth. Can you believe that in this day and age all we have is word of mouth. If anyone is to survive, it will only happen if we unionize. Please forgive all the typos.

It is sad to see so many people getting sucked in by the unionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn who will promise you anything you want but get you nothing. What you have now and are bitching about is the best you'll ever have. If you read the Parade supplement to the Sunday paper you should realize you are now overpaid and that what you think is lousy treatment toward the service department is now standard across the industry. You who talk so big and loud about leaving need to get your walking shoes on (but, of course, you won't really be leaving because you're no good to any other company). You don't have any of the industry certifications required for hiring on somewhere else. Get used to it, you're stuck. and the only change you'll see is another deduction from your paycheck labeled union dues.

LOOK AT WHAT SOME ASSHOLE WROTE...LISTEN UP CEs, THIS IS WHAT YOU COMPANY THINKS OF YOU. THIS COMPANY HIRED UNIONBUSTERS TO INSULT AND BELITTLE US. PLEASE DONT STAND FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY OF DISRESPECT. THIS IS ALL THE MORE REASON WE NEED TO UNIONIZE..MY CARD HAS BEEN IN FOR MONTHS. PLEASE LET NOT WASTE THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Iam a ce from the south, and from what Iam understanding, Its going to be hard to get the numbers to organize. Most of the young guys dont want to be involved, because they say they are going to leave. They dont want to work for a company that would do this to their senior people. Its kinda depressing cause I was hoping we could get it going down here. Maybe if the New England ces get the union in hopefully it will catch fire down here after the guys here what kind of contract they get.

to Mr. South CE 2 posts above. Don't lose faith. Talk to people get their info and have Bobby send them cards. I think a lot of them don't know and need to see the information. They will see it for what it is and get onboard. Everyone you talk to knows different people in different areas. It will spread and the few that don't want to be part of it will be in the minority.
Many people I have talked to think they are going to just send the cards to them. HELLO... They don't have our information so you help them get it and that will help all of us.
If only a few individuals start the movement it will grow and in a short period of time there will be a majority in the south.

Listen up. The company can not fire everyone if you refuse to come to NY. They have a business to run. Get the word out that if you are ask to go just say no. we were screwed!!! This company gets more work for less money. how much more should we take. I am the first to say that I will not go. Another way around having to go to NY is to form our own Union. Its right at our finger tips. Lets join and stop the f&%#ing company from treating us like shit! what did we do to deserve this. And if after we join and we dont like what we see or how we are treated, well then you can look for another job. Or de-ratify the union. Please, LETS STAND TALL

To The Remote Tech who posted earlier: I was a remote tech, lost my job as NCR outsourced my position. Because your remote, makes you more of a target. All NCR needs to do is outsource their contracts to a cheaper source, and eliminate you. Your at a higher risk of loosing your job than a tech in a major center. Remote Tech's should get their cards in ASAP.

MOre good news on where our CE paycuts are going:
On Saturday morning, the Clintons will be feted at a $2,000-a-plate brunch at the Sag Harbor house of philanthropist Lisa Perry, who was a Lincoln bedroom guest in the late 1990s.

After a stopover at another event at an undisclosed location, the Clintons cap off the weekend with a serenade from '80s pop-metal poster boy Jon Bon Jovi, performing at the East Hampton residence of cash register king Bill Nuti, president of retail technology company NCR.

For $1,000, devotees can join their favorite couple for an "evening under the stars" with cocktails and dessert on Nuti's lawn, according to the invitation.

And this is Mrs. ProUnion Clinton, who wants our vote? What total hypocrits.

NCR takes advantage of people to support their share-holders. It's all about "numbers". To maintain share-holder intrest, almost all realestate has been sold off, closure of North American facitlites, rebanding, re-organizing, elimination of positions; de-moralizing the work force. These changes are due to promises made to shareholders behind closed doors. These "innovative" decisions are from a "creative accounting numbers game". A man made game corporations play. The leadership makes their "projected target numbers"and is awarded a great sum of money. As you can see, even the NCR leadership team is taking advantage of NCR. Anyone below them is just a stepping stone, unforetunately. What it boils down to, is their voice is louder. People below their level have little or no voice. In this day and age, NCR does need a union so workers heads aren't used as ladders for executives .They demonstrate their greed by not taking paycuts like the worker below them. They do not lead by example. When you see the leadership not leading by example, your common sense should tell you something isn't right.Where is your voice?? Yes, you need a voice. How do I get a voice? Send in your cards. It will just be a matter of time before another "creative accounting moment" will occur, and something else in the company will be eliminated. You all better get together, and get this ball rolling. The clock is ticking. Those sitting on the fence waiting to see what happens should open their eyes; the fence needs repainting. Sign the card, send it in. Your not heard sitting on the fence.I support this cause, and I hope you do too. Sign the card, send it in, get a voice.

EVERYONE, read what "Live from Atlanta" wrote above. While Nuti and Cheadle are telling us we are the backbone and core of NCR, this manager is speaking what management really thinks of us. He says, without a unionnnnnnnn, this is as good as it will get. We are all in a dead end job going nowhere with no industry certifications. He goes on to say that we are no good to any other company.
So all of the FLT people who thought they were stepping up, this person is letting the truth be told. We are all going nowhere. NCR is NOT a good stepping stone for advancement or to move on to another company becuase we are "no good to them".
THIS is what NCR really thinks of US. Industry standard? It's time we change the industry standard. It's time we organize the industry starting with NCR. It's time for a unionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!

What kind of fool would take an RTSS position? I was offered the RTSS job, but like the other CE3's, turned it down, it's a deadend kiss the managers ass position. They gave it to a unqualified CE2 scab!

You are ignorant and Nuti is smart.
You don't have a job, only companies have jobs. They allow you to fill the position and at their choice and option they can and should change their job to suite the needs of the company, not you.

Before you start letting me know how wrong I am

How much do you make?
How much does Nuti make?
Who got a cut in pay last year?
Who got a raise last year?
If you have a job how can NCR change your job in any way?
If you leave the company do you take the job with you?
What was the point of the interview?

Yes I know
So am I

What ever NCR does in the future, they will need people to service the equipment. On wednesday while driving by HQ in Dayton, I saw a blue bus being unloaded, approx 52 monkeys dressed in NCR shirts, carrying a laptop and tool kits were seen entering the parking lot. The driver of the bus said they were all cloned from the company president. Trivial as this seems, one of the taller monkeys had a suit on, and appeared to be the leader. It was Nutty and rediculous (well.... I think we needed a laugh in here.)

"How much do you make?

So how much you make, is an indication of how smart you are? Why wasn't Einstein the richest man in the world? In Nutjob nuti's case, it's just an indication that he is willing to lie, steal, and cheat the employee's of NCR for his own gain!

To anonymous poster who wrote:

You make some valid points about companies employing at will but I would ask you if it is honorable or good business sense to lie to your fellow employees when the company states:
Our employees are our most valuable resource.
Does making false promises fall under a company’s right? Let me turn this another way, if I was an employee and I was being paid to perform a job but decided to just take the pay and not perform the job wouldn't that be the same thing as NCR is doing? I promise I will do it but not produce on my promise.
Another poster made a good point. Does being smart assume you will earn more money? Not true.
In your thinking, NCR can do as it pleases because it is "the company". Well dude, the people are the company, the investors and share holders (which most CE's are) are the company. If the people are the most valuable resource "the company" has, would it not make sense to take care of them, ALL of them. Since the CE's (and other employees) are share and a stake holder isn’t it the CE's right to bring in representation to assist in negotiations? So it is kind of like NCR bringing in outside assistance to help them with their negotiations or performances. Isn't that interesting? Nuti can hire assistance such as productivity analysts but the “common” employees can not bring in a union. This does not sound right to me.

Your questions:

How much do you make? - None of your business but I do well.

How much does Nuti make? Don't care but it is too much for what he does

Who got a cut in pay last year? People who worked their butt off who were made promises that were not kept

Who got a raise last year? Those who stole from those who were forced to give

If you have a job how can NCR change your job in any way?
NCR can change your job but not in any way. Workers have a right to protest.

If you leave the company do you take the job with you? Yes. I took my job with me and just applied what I learned somewhere else.

What was the point of the interview? To see if there was a match and form a mutual bond between employer and employee. NCR broke that bond.

There are 2 sides to every story dude. Those who are considered “privileged” in a company can not just dump on their fellow worked and not expect to get some resistance.

Hope this clears your thinking....

TO BE COMPETITIVE.
SAVINGS $6 MILLION ANNUALY

NUTI's (tenure 2 years)pay raise $10 million ($18 million 2007 vs $8 million 2006).

HOW IS AN ADDITIONAL $4 MILLION NET COST COMPETITIVE???

I think all the people that are going to lose their house and all families who will end up broken (the number one cause of divorce being fights over money) should be happy to contribute to NUTI's lifestyles of the rich and famous

Hello all, There has been a Class Action Lawsuit filed against NCR for missed wages and so forth dealing with lunches, admin time and so on. The lawsuit has started in California. I have a copy of it and sent it to Steve Smith to maybe post it on the blog for all to review. It's to large to paste in the blog.

Call the Lawyer representing this case, Matt Dameron at 816-714-7137 for more information.

To whomever keeps putting this class action info on the site:
Have you sent in your card?

Are you talking up the union to your coworkers and everyone you can think of around you getting them to send in a cards?

Do you think getting the peanuts you may get in a few years if you win are as important as trying to save the little we have left?

I am for everyone getting what they deserve but find it hard to believe a few dollars in lost wages will equal what the union can help us with.
Lets get the union then we can bust them for the peanuts.

If we don't get this moving we will be left in the dust.

ACT NOW! GET NAMES AND INFO TO THE UNION GUYS SO THE DINGDONGS WAITING FOR CARDS TO MAGICALLY SHOW UP WILL GET THE INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!

I sent my card in as soon as I recieved it. Problem is the new hires in this area say they're looking for work elsewhere and don't want to commit to a union. I have no patience to deal with them anymore. As far as the Class Action Suite I want to get NCR for everything possible. I worked my ass off for 30 years, skipped lunch's most days, did admin & parts on my own time and then they did this! It's time to get even, I don't care about the $$$, just the principle.

I'm sure the majority of CE's with any time under their belts are in the same boat.
There has to be a way to get the new hires onboard otherwise the union will fail and we will all be looking elsewhere for a job. Then again a lot of people are in the just happy to get whatever they will give us mode. After a long enough time of getting beat down people are afraid to move or talk. It is crazy but what can you do.
I'm hoping something will change with the union but I'm also looking for something else as I fear things will remain the same as too many will ride the fence too long.
DO NOTHING NOTHING WILL CHANGE FOR THE GOOD. FOR SURE THINGS WILL DECLINE AS THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL. JUST NEED TO READ IT TO SEE IT'S HEADING SOUTH.

Two Tier Workforce

A few years ago, NCR implemented a "Two Tier Workforce" (as instructed by consultants) to drive a wedge between their High Paid & Low Paid works.
This was the "seed" that would (over time) lead to distruction of the existing Wage & Benefits structures. Many oher companies have successfully used
the same tactic. Knowledge-Transfer, Outside Contracting, and Productivity Demands are fertilizer for this "seed". Contention & Dissention festers between
these "Tiers" making them incapable of unity. This tactic works well in both Union & Non-Union environments (see NY Times Article below)

February 26, 2006
Two Tiers, Slipping Into One
By LOUIS UCHITELLE
PEORIA, Ill.
RICK DOTY is a 30-year veteran of Caterpillar, the big tractor and earth-moving equipment manufacturer. He is paid $23.51 an hour as a machinist, and he receives additional benefits worth almost as much. That sets him far above newly hired workers consigned to a much lower wage scale.
To these fellow workers, Mr. Doty, who is also a local union leader, struggles to justify an inequality that he helped to negotiate.
"I remind them they are making more now than they were before they came to Cat," said Mr. Doty, who spends part of his day at the one-story union hall of United Automobile Workers Local 974 arguing that $12 to $13 an hour is good pay here. "And I assure them that five years down the road, when the present contract expires, we in the union are going to improve their lot in life."
That does not seem likely. After more than a decade of failed strikes and job actions — mainly in Illinois, where Caterpillar has its biggest factories — the U.A.W. reluctantly accepted a two-tier contract that provides for significantly lower wages and benefits for newly hired employees. The new second tier is as much as $20 an hour below the cost of employing Mr. Doty, 50, and a dwindling band of other veterans.
As older workers depart, at Caterpillar and at other companies, the longstanding wage advantage that manufacturing workers enjoy over their counterparts in services or construction is shrinking fast. The trade-off is the promise of a manufacturing revival at long last in the old Rust Belt, as new hires come aboard at much lower labor costs.
"What we've done is reposition ourselves to actually grow employment in our Midwestern plants," said Jim Owens, Caterpillar's chief executive. "We finally have a labor cost that is viable."
Caterpillar is adding a significant chapter to the labor cost-cutting that is widespread in America, particularly at old-line manufacturing companies. Until recently, cutbacks in the wages and benefits of hourly workers were limited mostly to money-losing companies: failing steel mills, for example, and struggling airlines. They have said that their survival was at stake.
Now, however, even healthy and highly profitable companies like Caterpillar are engaging in the practice, and as they do so, the longstanding presumption that factory workers at successful companies can achieve a secure, relatively prosperous middle-class life for themselves and their families is evaporating.
"Caterpillar is a powerful symbol of this process," said Harley Shaiken, a labor economist at the University of California, Berkeley. "It dominates its field. It is one of America's largest exporters, and it is very profitable. If there ever was a company that could bring back the social contract of the mid-20th century, it is Caterpillar. But it chooses not to."
AS Caterpillar's managers see it, they have no choice. "There is a balance that must be struck between being competitive and being middle class," said Douglas R. Oberhelman, a group president. Although Caterpillar's factories are among the most productive in the world, the managers argue that the company cannot afford to be more generous simply because it is doing well right now.
"You could say that in good times you could afford a different kind of package and in bad times you couldn't," said Christopher E. Glynn, the director of corporate labor relations. "The real question is: What's competitive? And our target is competitiveness."
The new contract reflects the company's success in imposing a "market competitive" pay scale; that is, wages and benefits that attract enough qualified workers by being slightly better than the packages offered by others in each community or region where Caterpillar has operations.
In the Midwest market, the competitive wage-and-benefit package is about $23 an hour, on average, Mr. Glynn says. Caterpillar's package for new hires in the U.A.W. contract ratified 13 months ago is pegged above that, at $28 an hour, which includes about $9 an hour in benefits.
Only the most skilled workers in the new lower tier — electricians and machinists, for example — make more than $20 an hour, or $41,000 a year, while in the gradually expiring upper tier, everyone does, even unskilled laborers and shop helpers.
In the new lower tier, such easily replaceable workers will no longer earn more than $12.50 an hour, or $26,000 a year. They must work their way up toward middle-class jobs, Mr. Owens argues, shedding the "union mind-set" of annual raises for doing the same minimally skilled task year after year.
"I want people to have a higher income," Mr. Owens said. "But you do that by starting out maybe driving a forklift or working in a warehouse and then you get new skills. You can learn how to paint. You can learn how to assemble. You can become a welder." Beyond that, he says, talented workers are encouraged to take courses to qualify for promotion to salaried jobs, like supervisor, outside the union.
Going back decades, the hourly wage in manufacturing has been higher, on average, than in nonmanufacturing jobs. Through most of the 1990's, that premium was 10 percent or more, but by last year, it had fallen to just 7.45 percent above the average in other industries, according to an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data by the Economic Policy Institute, a research group based in Washington.
"We are converging in the Midwest on a $13- to $18-an-hour wage package and $9 more for benefits," said Daniel Luria, an economist at the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center in Ann Arbor. "That is roughly $25 an hour, and it is down from about $40."
The trade-off for lower wages, Caterpillar's top executives counter, is more jobs for the region. Three-quarters of the 4,200 hourly workers that Caterpillar added in the United States last year, after the new labor contract was ratified in January, joined factories in Illinois instead of the network of small, low-wage plants that the company has opened in recent years in the South.
This southern network, as well as plants in Mexico, feeds parts and components to the big Illinois factories, where most of Caterpillar's tractors and earth movers, backhoes and excavators, giant off-highway trucks and other heavy equipment are assembled for sale in the United States and, to some degree, for export.
The domestic plants form the hub of what Mr. Owens calls a "globally cost-competitive" system that includes factories elsewhere in the world to serve different markets. A plant in Japan, for example, is producing earth movers for China's expanding mining industry; the next step, Mr. Owens says, is to put a factory in China.
But the company itself, he says, cannot succeed without the concessionary U.A.W. contract, combined with the network of lower-wage "focus plants" in the Sun Belt and in Mexico.
"It's a beautiful North American equation," Mr. Owens said.
Shane Hillard says he does not think it is so beautiful. He is one of the new Illinois hires, having taken a second-tier job at the big tractor factory here, closing down a small landscaping company to join Caterpillar. In doing so, he lowered his health care costs — he is a diabetic, and Caterpillar's health insurance was less expensive than his own — and he is no longer idle in winter.
"When you get down to it, I earned a little more in landscaping than I am earning now, even after expenses," he said. "But I enjoy structure, and I enjoy my job. I need something to do every day."
By the end of last year, Mr. Hillard, 28, had moved up from welder to machinist — and to a wage of $18 an hour, $2 above what the original contract called for. Caterpillar increased the pay scale for those jobs last October, to make sure that it could continue to attract the workers it wanted in the face of higher-wage offers for people with skills in those categories.
Those offers were coming to welders and machinists at a Caterpillar plant in Aurora, Ill., a suburb of Chicago where earth graders for highway construction are made. "We were having difficulty hiring some of the people we wanted," Mr. Owens said. "And our attrition rate was higher than we wanted, so we adjusted the wage to get the people we wanted and retain them."
Mr. Hillard, 160 miles away in Peoria, benefited. But even the $18 an hour is not enough, he says, to support the four people in his household. He lives with his fiancée, who is going to college and not working, and two children — one each from their previous marriages.
"We don't ever have any extra money to do things," Mr. Hillard said. "I'd like to do normal things that I remember doing as a kid. The family going on vacation, that kind of thing."
WHAT he would like, he said, is the $23 an hour or so that Mr. Doty and others earn as machinists, doing essentially the same work that Mr. Hillard does.
"I am not upset that they are making more," he said. "I believe they are being paid what they are worth. They are being paid what they need to live the way people ought to live."
His anger — directed at Caterpillar for not sharing more of its soaring profits — has made him an active member of U.A.W. Local 974. If the bottom tier does not rise substantially in the next contract, he says, he will vote against ratification. His superiors in the union are more circumspect, including Mr. Doty, who counts on a rising membership to strengthen the U.A.W.'s bargaining position.
The Illinois hiring over the past year has swollen the U.A.W.'s ranks to 11,500 of Caterpillar's 41,000 employees in the United States. Local 974 now has 6,000 members, up from 4,500 in 2004, and Mr. Doty, an executive vice president of the local who also works nearby at Caterpillar's diesel engine factory in Mossville, Ill., argues that the greater "union density" will give the U.A.W. more negotiating leverage when its contract expires in 2011.
"We have to get down the road to where we can bargain a better agreement," he said, "and six years will pass before you know it."
CATERPILLAR, meanwhile, is prospering. It reported revenue of $36.34 billion last year, up 20 percent from 2004. That was on top of a 33 percent increase in 2004 from 2003. Net income was up 40 percent last year, to $2.85 billion; it has nearly tripled since 2003. Tens of millions of dollars have gone into research to develop a great variety of Caterpillar products that sell against those of Komatsu and Volvo, the two biggest foreign competitors.
In the past, such gains would have also translated into higher wages and more generous benefits as contracts were renegotiated every two or three years. But the current, long-term U.A.W. contract at Caterpillar calls for just one general raise: 2 percent in December 2008.
Otherwise, there are some fixed bonuses and modest specified increases every six months as new hires work their way up the wage scale, which starts at $12 to $13 an hour for most factory workers and rarely gets to $20.
Fixed monthly pensions go now only to veteran workers, like Mr. Doty, and job security is effectively canceled for new hires, who must work 12 years without interruption to become immune to layoffs. Mr. Glynn notes that the arrangement gives Caterpillar leeway to shed the new workers when demand turns down for the company's products.
Employee co-payments for health insurance also rose in the current contract, for retirees as well as for active workers, although not by as much as the company had initially wanted, particularly for the retirees. The union membership voted twice against ratification and then approved the contract, with 59 percent voting in favor, after the company sweetened its health care package for retirees.
Having essentially won against the U.A.W., Caterpillar's managers are trying to persuade hourly workers to think of the current contract as having only one tier, the lower one, while those in the upper tier should be thought of as older workers whose wages were "grandfathered" until they depart. Ultimately, they hope to shift their new workers' basic loyalty from the union to the company.
"It's a good term, 'grandfathered,' because those folks were preserved at a wage-and-benefits level that was essentially twice the market," Mr. Glynn said. Already, 50 percent of the upper-tier workers who were around in 2004 have left, through retirement and attrition.
New hires are encouraged to view assembly-line work as short term. The way up from the admittedly meager wage scale is not a better union contract, the message goes, but a promotion — if not within Caterpillar, then at another employer. Driving a forklift or working on an assembly line for 20 years should not be a career goal.
"We talk these things out in round-table discussions with workers on every shift," said Paul Strang, operations manager for the tractor division in Peoria, where Caterpillar started in 1925, making tractors with tracks instead of wheels.
"People say: 'My dad hired in at $25 an hour, and I'm at $12 an hour. Help me understand that.' And we just talk through that," Mr. Strang said, adding that "we are competitive; this is a place where people want to work, and there are opportunities for promotion."
That goal is very much on display at the diesel engine plant in Mossville, which employs 2,400 people, about 25 percent of whom have been on the job less than a year. To make employees feel better, D. Dean Messinger, a plant manager, said, the bathrooms have been modernized and the cafeteria redecorated in a cedar shingle design. More to the point, a learning center recently opened on the factory floor, equipped with 30 computers and staffed with teachers from a nearby community college.
TRAINING in résumé-writing and job interviewing are staples of the eight-week curriculum. For those who want to go on to college, Caterpillar offers to pay up to 90 percent of their tuition costs, as it has done in the past, and career counselors help steer hourly workers toward salaried office jobs.
"Whether people get a promotion or not, they have the opportunity, and that is what matters," Mr. Messinger said. "The ones who are most aggressive, they go back to school and they can rise."

How can you compare Caterpillar to NCR?? They are 2 different types of businesses..

How can you compare Caterpillar to NCR?? They are 2 different types of businesses..

But if you read the whole thing there are very similar things going on in our business model. Get those cards in and lets get down to business.

Anonymous said...

WE NEED ONE PERSON FROM EVERY AREA TO GET EVERYONES NAME AND ADDRESS AND SEND IT TO BOBBY OR STEVE.
This will allow them to send the card and information to a lot of people. Many of them don't know or are on the fence about what is happening. With the card comes an info packet that explains the union and the situation.
It will only take a few minutes from a few people and it will spread.
ACT NOW!!!!
A FEW MINUTES MAY MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!!

c'mon...i need this union..we need this union. i know that unions are not the best work environments to work in, every one gets an across the board pay raise, I think thats a good thing since i have not gotten a decent pay raise in years.. The union protects the dead beats but it will also protect the good guys. I say lets di it..please.

Anonymous said...

Who are the "Deadbeats"?

I guess that you are speaking of those CE3s that NCR just "eliminated"?

Seriously, we are ALL Workers that must be treated EQUALLY! I don't think that
Unions have anymore Deadbeats" than Non-unions. But Non-unions certainly have
more Assholes than Unions. (see above statement)

In the Non-union areas, the "Deadbeats wore the "Scarlet Letter" (Lower Salary)
and probably produced less for being paid less. NCR took care of THAT! Didn't they?
Now, all of the "name callers" have been branded as "Deadbeats"

Moral: If YOU want to have a Union, start thinking like a BROTHER!

How many signed cards did YOU collect today?

Hey we need to stop this fighting and work together to get the Union voted in. we have all been screwed by NCR in one way or another. The guys in the rural areas had their pay cut and none of them deserved it. They work on everything and are held to the same standards as the Guys in the big city's and usually have a much greater distance to drive.

The guys in the city's have been dumped on also. Remember Permond? I remember when most if not all of the NCR retail team went to Permond and all took drastic pay cuts or had no job. Did any of those guys that are now back working for NCR get a big pay raise for coming back, I don't think so.

Last but not least the CE3'3. 20 bucks an hour and do the same great job you have always done for the company for the last 30 years. What other company could you work at for 30 years and only make 6 dollars an hour more then a new hire only doing first line ATM work. This is a slap in the face to all of us. This is why we all need to work at getting the Union voted in.

Anonymous said...

The upper management of NCR have contracts, they make their numbers; they are generously rewarded. I tend to think their reward is a little too generous.Anyone below them have no "contract" . It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. The workers need a contract. Send in your cards, start the process of a contract.

Anonymous said...

I just saw my paycheck with the bridge payment. NCR seem to have forgotten that this is considered a non-discretionary bonus, and that they must add that bonus to our regular pay when computing our overtime. If we are to be paid the same pay for 18 months, then our overtime pay must be the same, according to Federal Law. Anyone with a friendly lawyer should check into this. Or just search the web for bonus and overtime. Looks like the company wants to screw us again, as usual. Could be another class action suit in the works

Don't just keep saying send in your card.
Take matters into your hands(a little more anyway).
Every area someone has the availability to get your coworkers names/address, numbers etc...

GET THAT INFO AND SEND IT TO THE UNION REPS

LET THEM SEND OUT THE INFO AND CARDS. IT MAY MAKE THE DIFFERENCE TO SOME.

WE HAVE TO TRY AND DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN BLOG AND HOPE PEOPLE WILL JUMP ONBOARD. I want a change as do many. Step up and do more than talk. Anything extra will help. Get the info into the guys that can help us.

We can do this. Get the info in and help us help ourselves. A few minutes of typing and an email on your personal pc (of course) can make a difference.
GIT HER DONE!!!!!

Good Morning all, Why can't everybody see that we need the union. This would not have happened if the union was in place. Look at NYC and Australia. They have a union and they still have a good workplace. They kept their pay. Well that what I want also. NCR has already hurt us but it not too late. Let vote in a union and send NCR and Bill Nuti a message. That they can not distroy our lives. I could hardly pay my bills. I am sure Bill does not have the same problem. NCR claims that CE3s were overpaid. They have The now have Firstline guys doing CE2 work, CE2 guys doing what was considered CE3 work. Now by doing this, NCR has given everyone that was CE1 and CE2 a promotion without the payraises and took away pay and title from the CE3. HOW NICE WAS That. Now NCR claims that they have just had the BEST QUARTER in their 120 history!! Come on people. Do you think thats right. I DONT!!! All I want is what most people want, A good days pay for a good days work. All I read these days are people are unhappy and they want change. We have the perfect opportunity now. Let strike while the iron is still hot. Lets get the union organized and go to the table while NY is at the table. It can not be worse than it is right now. All we need to do is vote in the union. It wont cost us a penny to try. We will not pay a penny in union dues until we have a written contract in force. If we dont get what we want, we don't pay. Come on people, Its a WIN-WIN situation. It cant hurt to give this a try. Please Please. Lets help ourselves.

Please take it upon yourselves to reseach Commute Time laws in your particular states. In New Jersey, if an employee has no personal use of a company vehicle, he is on the Clock from the time he gets in the vehicle until he gets out. NCR has been getting away with not paying for this time forever. When you guys renegotiate the contracts please look into this little Error.

Anonymous said...

To above, as of now there are only two states that must pay like that. Most states only allow half an hour commute in morning as non payable, but it varies from state to state. That is a contract negotiation not a law. Just so people don't get all worked up over thinking NCR breaking the law. All companies have been getting away with it forever.

Anonymous said...

oops that is for a use of a Co. vehicle. Personal use is a little different, but still varies. in general the states still allow a commute time in am that is non payable. It would not hurt anyone to find out.
I know everone thinks NCR is the worst employer toever be in business, but this is a little thing that most territory managers don't have a clue on cause it has been in practice for years.

Company Vans In Canada Registered Improperly: I was stopped by an RCMP, he said NCR registered the van as a personal van instead of a van used as comercial. He was going to write me a summons, but didn't. He explained that comercial plates cost more, and that your company (NCR) is saving alot of money yearly by registering the vans this way. He gave me a warning. An improperly registered van in an accident situation would make NCR to blame because the van should not be used for business.

Is NCR growing?? Why is NCR cutting poeples pay? Why did NCR eliminate the CE3 position? Why did NCR sell all their realestate? Why did NCR sperate Teradata? Why does NCR win contracts on 3rd party equipment that is outdated? Why isn't NCR visible? Why did NCR outsource jobs to other countries? Why is the morale so low in NCR? Why is the rework quality on parts so poor? Why does NCR send me one ink jet that costs $58 to ship? Why does NCR suggest we work our lunch hours, or do extras? Why is NCR shrinking when companys like IBM are growing? Why aren't there any real new innovative R&D products? Does NCR have a budget for R&D? Why doesn't NCR lead by example? Why aren't CPC type calls billed to some customers? Why is everyone your boss? When will all this be fixed? How will it be fixed? Who will fix it? Where did my future go in NCR? Why doesn't NCR just sell out each department? Why does NCR use our earnings on our frozen pensions? Why haven't we had a raise for 9 years? Why did the older/higher paid techs get terminated? Why is there a 2 tier system? Why isn't there more Union activity? Why are you unhappy with NCR? Why does NCR control us like sheep? Why do we allow this type of management behavior? Why doesn't NCR retain employees? Why don't you send in your card? Why isn't NCR Union sooner? Why are the new hires so reluctant to send in cards? Why are we scared of NCR? Why don't we have more control over our future? Why don't you get off the fence and send in your card? Sometimes all these questions confuse me too. You decide the answers. You figure out what needs to be done here, and soon!

Vans and commute time. We are lucky that NCR lets us take our vans home when our shift is over. i worked for another company that made us park them at a designated place(office or parts shed) and i had to drive my own car 40 minutes to get my van everyday and punch a clock when i got there. Even when i was on call for them i had to do the same thing. They did not have 2 hr response times like NCR, but it sure was a pain. So i don't mind the 30 minutes commute time we don't get paid for. they pay for the gas not me

THE PERSON WHO WROTE THIS IS DEAD ON BALLS ACCURATE. NCR HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE LAST QUARTER RESULTS ARE THE BEST THIS COMPANY HAS EVER ACHIEVED AND THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT US. tHEY RUN THIS PLACE LIKE A SWEAT SHOP. LISTEN UP GUYS..EVEN THE SWEAT SHOPS HAVE TURNED TO THE UNION..IF YOU ARE ON THE FENCE, PLEASE SEND THOSE CARDS IN. IF YOU HAVE DECIDED THAT YOU DONT WANT ONE...PLEASE RECONSIDER. I NEED A UNION..LET GO TO THE BOARD.. THE SOONER THE BETTER. IT WONT COST US ANYTHING. IF WE DO NOT GET A CONTRACT THAT WE LIKE WE DONT PAY ANY DUES. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..LET SIGN THOSE CARDS. THANKS

NCR would lose money if we had to park our vans and punch a clock. How many times do you catch that call on the way home and not charge?
We store their parts and keys etc... and they don't have to pay for the storage spot or security for that. With no OT policy they would be forced to pay you for every minute. There would have to be an office to do your email, timesheets etc...
It would be more of a pain for us however they are not stupid. They are out of the office/real estate rent game. It's much easier and cost efficient to not pay for storing vehicles and punching time clocks.
I think the commute time is BS. Your office is your vehicle. Do all virtual employees start their day 1/2 an hour early and work 1/2 an hour late? I don't think so.....

To the above poster (commute time):
You seem to have a company man attitude. You must be fairly new. Stick around and see how wonderful your yearly raise/bonus and benefit packages turn out after a couple more years. I used to feel the same as you. Thought the company cared for us and would be fair, just and good to all of the employees. Well time sure cured that. All companies may be the same but its dog eat dog and the only solution I can see is to organize.
I am not a union person but I see no other option. That's not to say it will be the end all be all but it will not get any better without something happening.
I know HR people at other companies that spend the entire day making sure the workers are happy so they don't feel the need for a union. When was the last time you had HR take any concern for any one of us. My last experience with them I got a butt chewing. They work for the man not us.
They are more than happy to explain your pay cuts or why you need to work an hour extra everyday. Thats because they didn't take the cut or have to work that hour.
SMARTEN UP. SEND THE CARDS IN OR GET THE INFO FOR YOUR AREA OUT TO REPS.

Anonymous said...

If we had to drop off and pick up our vans at a NCR building. We would have voted in a union by now.
The companys not stupid they don't want us to be able to congregate and talk. Thats how unions get organized.

Anonymous said...

I used to catch a call now and then on the way home and not charge for it but not any more. Everything you do off the clock you are just cutting your salary that much more for NCR. If you are a new CE2 making 20 a hour and skip your lunch, you just worked all day for 17.80 an hour. Who wants to do that? I charge for every time I have to respond to anything related to NCR. If I have to confirm a call for call one I charge 30 min of overtime. If I work 15 min past 1700 I charge them 15 min of OT. I would never have done that before but I do now. Don't cheat your self out of what NCR owes you.

LEE IACOCCA

REMEMBER LEE IACOCCA? HE IS THE MAN WHO RESCUED CHRYSLER CORPORATION FROM IT'S DEATH THROES? HE HAS A NEW BOOK, AND HERE ARE SOME EXCERPTS.

'AM I THE ONLY GUY IN THIS COUNTRY WHO'S FED UP WITH WHAT'S HAPPENING?

WHERE THE HELL IS OUR OUTRAGE? WE SHOULD BE SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER. WE'VE GOT A GANG OF CLUELESS BOZOS STEERING OUR SHIP OF STATE RIGHT OVER A CLIFF, WE'VE GOT CORPORATE GANGSTERS STEALING US BLIND, AND WE CAN'T EVEN CLEAN UP AFTER A HURRICANE MUCH LESS BUILD A HYBRID CAR.

BUT INSTEAD OF GETTING MAD, EVERYONE SITS AROUND AND NODS THEIR HEADS WHEN THE POLITICIANS SAY, 'STAY THE COURSE' STAY THE COURSE? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING. THIS IS AMERICA, NOT THE DAMNED 'TITANIC'.

I'LL GIVE YOU A SOUND BITE: 'THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT!'

YOU MIGHT THINK I'M GETTING SENILE, THAT I'VE GONE OFF MY ROCKER, AND MAYBE I HAVE. BUT SOMEONE HAS TO SPEAK UP. I HARDLY RECOGNIZE THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE.

THE MOST FAMOUS BUSINESS LEADERS ARE NOT THE INNOVATORS BUT THE GUYS IN HANDCUFFS.

WHILE WE'RE FIDDLING IN IRAQ, THE MIDDLE EAST IS BURNING AND NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. AND THE PRESS IS WAVING 'POM-POMS' INSTEAD OF ASKING HARD QUESTIONS. THAT'S NOT THE PROMISE OF THE 'AMERICA' MY PARENTS AND YOURS TRAVELED ACROSS THE OCEAN FOR. I'VE HAD ENOUGH. HOW ABOUT YOU?

I'LL GO A STEP FURTHER. YOU CAN'T CALL YOURSELF A PATRIOT IF YOU'RE NOT OUTRAGED. THIS IS A FIGHT I'M READY AND WILLING TO HAVE. THE BIGGEST 'C' IS CRISIS !

LEADERS ARE MADE, NOT BORN. LEADERSHIP IS FORGED IN TIMES OF CRISIS.

IT'S EASY TO SIT THERE WITH YOUR FEET UP ON THE DESK AND TALK THEORY. OR SEND SOMEONE ELSE'S KIDS OFF TO WAR WHEN YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A BATTLEFIELD YOURSELF. IT'S ANOTHER THING TO LEAD WHEN YOUR WORLD COMES TUMBLING DOWN.

ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, WE NEEDED A STRONG LEADER MORE THAN ANY OTHER TIME IN OUR HISTORY. WE NEEDED A STEADY HAND TO GUIDE US OUT OF THE ASHES. A HELL OF A MESS.

SO HERE'S WHERE WE STAND.

WE'RE IMMERSED IN A BLOODY WAR WITH NO PLAN FOR WINNING AND NO PLAN FOR LEAVING.

WE'RE RUNNING THE BIGGEST DEFICIT IN THE HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY.

WE'RE LOSING THE MANUFACTURING EDGE TO ASIA, WHILE OUR ONCE-GREAT COMPANIES ARE GETTING SLAUGHTERED BY HEALTH CARE COSTS.

GAS PRICES ARE SKYROCKETING, AND NOBODY IN POWER HAS A COHERENT ENERGY POLICY.

OUR SCHOOLS ARE IN TROUBLE.

OUR BORDERS ARE LIKE SIEVES.

THE MIDDLE CLASS IS BEING SQUEEZED EVERY WHICH WAY.

THESE ARE TIMES THAT CRY OUT FOR LEADERSHIP. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AROUND, YOU'VE GOT TO ASK: 'WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEADERS GONE?'

WHERE ARE THE CURIOUS, CREATIVE COMMUNICATORS? WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE OF CHARACTER, COURAGE, CONVICTION, OMNIPOTENCE, AND COMMON SENSE? I MAY BE A SUCKER FOR ALLITERATION, BUT I THINK YOU GET THE POINT.

NAME ME A LEADER WHO HAS A BETTER IDEA FOR HOMELAND SECURITY THAN MAKING US TAKE OFF OUR SHOES IN AIRPORTS AND THROW AWAY OUR SHAMPOO? WE'VE SPENT BILLIONS OF DOLLARSBUILDINGA HUGE NEW BUREAUCRACY, AND ALL WE KNOW HOW TO DO IS REACT TO THINGS THAT HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED.

NAME ME ONE LEADER WHO EMERGED FROM THE CRISIS OF HURRICANE KATRINA. CONGRESS HAS YET TO SPEND A SINGLE DAY EVALUATING THE RESPONSE TO THE HURRICANE, OR DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE DECISIONS THAT WERE MADE IN THE CRUCIAL HOURS AFTER THE STORM.

EVERYONE'S HUNKERING DOWN, FINGERS CROSSED, HOPING IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. NOW, THAT'S JUST CRAZY. STORMS HAPPEN. DEAL WITH IT. MAKE A PLAN. FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO THE NEXT TIME.

NAME ME AN INDUSTRY LEADER WHO IS THINKING CREATIVELY ABOUT HOW WE CAN RESTORE OUR COMPETITIVE EDGE IN MANUFACTURING. WHO WOULD HAVE BELIEVED THAT THERE COULD EVER BE A TIME WHEN 'THE BIG THREE' REFERRED TO JAPANESE CAR COMPANIES? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN, AND MORE IMPORTANT, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

NAME ME A GOVERNMENT LEADER WHO CAN ARTICULATE A PLAN FOR PAYING DOWN THE DEBT, OR SOLVING THE ENERGY CRISIS, OR MANAGING THE HEALTH CARE PROBLEM. THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING. BUT THESE ARE THE CRISES THAT ARE EATING AWAY AT OUR COUNTRY AND MILKING THE MIDDLE CLASS DRY.

I HAVE NEWS FOR THE GANG IN CONGRESS. WE DIDN'T ELECT YOU TO SIT ON YOUR ASSES AND DO NOTHING AND REMAIN SILENT WHILE OUR DEMOCRACY IS BEING HIJACKED AND OUR GREATNESS IS BEING REPLACED WITH MEDIOCRITY.

WHAT IS EVERYBODY SO AFRAID OF? THAT SOME BONEHEAD ON FOX NEWS WILL CALL THEM A NAME? GIVE ME A BREAK. WHY DON'T YOU GUYS SHOW SOME SPINE FOR A CHANGE?

HAD ENOUGH?

HEY, I'M NOT TRYING TO BE THE VOICE OF GLOOM AND DOOM HERE. I'M TRYING TO LIGHT A FIRE. I'M SPEAKING OUT BECAUSE I HAVE HOPE; I BELIEVE IN AMERICA.

IN MY LIFETIME I'VE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF LIVING THROUGH SOME OF AMERICA'S GREATEST MOMENTS. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SOME OF OUR WORST CRISES: THE 'GREAT DEPRESSION', 'WORLD WAR II', THE 'KOREAN WAR', THE 'KENNEDY ASSASSINATION', THE 'VIETNAMWAR', THE 1970S OIL CRISIS, AND THE STRUGGLES OF RECENT YEARS CULMINATING WITH 9/11.

IF I'VE LEARNED ONE THING, IT'S THIS:

'YOU DON'T GET ANYWHERE BY STANDING ON THE SIDELINES WAITING FOR SOMEBODY ELSE TO TAKE ACTION. WHETHER IT'S BUILDING A BETTER CAR OR BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN, WE ALL HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY.

THAT'S THE CHALLENGE I'M RAISING IN THIS BOOK. IT'S A CALL TO 'ACTION' FOR PEOPLE WHO, LIKE ME, BELIEVE IN AMERICA.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE, BUT IT'S GETTING PRETTY CLOSE.

SO LET'S SHAKE OFF THE CRAP AND GO TO WORK.

LET'S TELL 'EM ALL WE'VE HAD 'ENOUGH.'

MAKE A 'REAL CONTRIBUTION' BY SENDING THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND CARE ABOUT......OUR FUTURE IS AT STAKE!

Hello All,
I noticed that a lot of CE's that I talk to don't even know about this union drive. More needs to done to get the word out. If you live in North Carolina, South Carolina or FL, where do ce's send the cards too?
Also, I am somewhat new. I seen in my short time here, the longterm CE's be beat up over and over. Why did it take so long to get this drive moving?
I am for the union, but based on what I hear on the street this is a lost cause.
Word has to get out!!!!!
Make it happen
Use the quicklook... Find a name and call with your own phone
Start talking........
Make it happen...
Millions for bill
Zero for us unless we start talking to those who don't know..
Make calls now dammit..
I am sick of talking to CE's and finding them clueless about this drive.
Bill, you should be ashamed. Count your millions. It's upon our backs you have all that money.
Guys.... Make it happen... Start calling
Stick it to Billy.....
OHHH there they are. Dispatch is calling. Hum should I answer?
NOT!
I already know the question.
Can you accept the call for which I am not trained to run? Hell no.
Kiss my ass!
START CALLING

Hey Chris...Eugene here..I admire you courage.. I think it is about we go public. No more hiding hiding behind the keyboard. You are a little more bold than I by posting your last name. I'll start by posting my first name only for now. I wonder how many Guys named Eugene work for NCR? OK, now down to business, Any Ideas on how to get the message out to all who do not know much about this movement? I mean without reprecussion by the company.

FYI- The rtss people are redy to go to NY. moving around from hotel to hotel to thwart any repurcussions. already set up and ready for the strike if it happens. You NCR is gonna try to get the paycut through like they did the rest of the company. let's get this thing together so they would have to cover alot more area if a strike was called!!

From what I'm hearing, it's the union reps that are being slow to contact the CE's and get everything organized.

Looks like NCR owes more money to the ce's who took the pay cuts. They must base all overtime after Feb 1st on your salary plus your bonus, so your overtime rate should be what it was BEFORE you took a pay cut.
(c) Promised bonuses not excluded. The bonus, to be excluded under
section 7(e)(3)(a), must not be paid ``pursuant to any prior contract,
agreement, or promise.'' For example, any bonus which is promised to
employees upon hiring or which is the result of collective bargaining
would not be excluded from the regular rate under this provision of the
Act. Bonuses which are announced to employees to induce them to work
more steadily or more rapidly or more efficiently or to remain with the
firm are regarded as part of the regular rate of pay. Attendance
bonuses, individual or group production bonuses, bonuses for quality and
accuracy of work, bonuses contingent upon the employee's continuing in
employment until the time the payment is to be made and the like are in
this category. They must be included in the regular rate of pay.

We need to get everyone to call payroll and inquire on this. NCR is trying to screw us out of even more money than they already have. They are not above the law.

Message from Bill Nutty,

I just want to thank you CE3s for my new yacht; (you pussys still no union). I also want to say to the CE1s and 2s hope you enjoy your 1% raise. Don't spend it all in one place, (you kiss ass assholes still no union). Also to my special ones the RTSSes and TM's have fun getting your asses kicked in NY and Jersey for my sake (you dumb fucks I’ll be eliminating the RTSS position and half the TM jobs after the strike is over).

After all it's all about me RIGHT? I love my money; I mean your money that’s mine now. What a country, I just rob my employees and company blind and it’s legal.

In general what I'm trying to say is HARAY for me and FUCK YOU.

Sincerely yours, (yea right)

THE NUTJOB

PS: In case the USA falls because of us corporate GREED Nazis I’m looking at a villa in Shanghai so don’t worry about me because I could give 2 shits about you or this country.

Something is backwards here with NCR.At the Shareholder meeting Nuti stated "NCR had it's best year ever (2007) since the AT&T spinnoff". The company is rich, but the employee's aren't rewarded for achieving this. The only person who was rewarded for this was Nuti. Appears he took care of filling his pockets first, then left the change on the floor for the rest to pick up. This would further decline the morale level further. As the saying goes: "You don't kiss ass to those lower than you"

FROZEN PENSION EARNINGS FEEDING COMPANY: Where does the intrest our pension account earns go? Anybody know? Are we entitled to it, or is the company? With as many enployee's NCR has and had, there must be millions of dollars in an account making intrest someplace. It doesn't seem legal. Being a former employee, I don't remember signing earnings away on my pension. I've decided to withdraw my pension and invest it outside of NCR. There is something fishy about this. It's just sitting there not doing anything anyways.Any input on this before I do it?

NCR Corp. Chief executive Officer said the company is well-positioned to achieve his vision for the future, but predicted some bumps along the way.

Bill Nuti, president and CEO of NCR (NYSE: NCR), made those comments during the company's annual shareholders meeting Wednesday while giving an update on the company's strategic direction after the spin-off of Teradata Corp. (NYSE: TDC).

"We have a lot of work to do," Nuti said. "But our plan is bold and ambitious with our feet on the ground and our head in the clouds."

The meeting took place at the company's Dayton headquarters with around 50 people in attendance.

Nuti said the company will continue to focus on growth in its core sectors of financial services, retail banking and retail.

He also said the company plans to move into other segments and increase its presence in health care, gaming and entertainment and the public sector. Nuti noted that the company has been successful gaining market share in the hospitality and travel industry, with 85 percent of airline kiosks using some sort of NCR product, such as its equipment, hardware or software.

Nuti said the company has a strong financial foundation without Teradata, which it spun off last October, and 2007 was the best year ever for the company financially since the spin off from AT&T (NYSE: T).

"We are really well positioned today and in a good position to achieve our vision," Nuti said. "But it will not be achieved without hard work and ups and downs along the way."

Also at the meeting, shareholders approved both proposals before them by wide margins.

Mark Frissora, chief executive officer of Hertz Corp.; and C.K. Prahalad, professor of business administration at the University of Michigan, were both re-elected to three-year terms on the board expiring in 2011. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP was approved as NCR's accountant firm for 2008.

Nuti also introduced NCR's new chief financial officer, Tony Massetti, to shareholders. Massetti joined the company at the end of January from California-based QLogic Corp., where he was CFO for five years.

NCR is the Dayton region's second-largest company with $4.97 billion in revenue in 2007. It employs 1,300 people locally and 20,000 worldwide.

Reading the article suggests to me NCR used the money saved in paycuts/ce3 elimination to make their numbers. In 2006, sold real estate, now selling out our employee's. The ones left and new hires cannot survive on their incomes. Is there a high turnover of employee's? Be hard to retain employee's with this type of management agenda. Looks like a loose-loose situation here at the lower levels. They raise the bar with great expectations, but pay so poorly in return. I myself would perform poorly under these conditions. If I got a pay cut, I would do that much less. This company needed a union a year ago. Hell, you guys have all the right to start a union with the way your treated. Appears alot of short term remedies are being used to push up the numbers. Little or No long term decisions made. This company acts like it's in Survival Mode, but yet it's not. Only 2 ways to look at this situation, get out, or get off the pot and get this union rollin. It's not too late.

My pay is down 30% and my overtime is down 75% do the math. My customers are asking questions and I'm not lying to them. The truth will hurt NCR a whole lot sooner than later.
We need to get this union in NATIONWIDE not just the east or west but everywhere.

Does anyone know if the union was voted in NE???

Anonymous said...

C'mon guys...The midwest is ready to vote...we are all most there..

Anonymous said...

Good morning all. In my own opinion, It would be in your best business to get the union onboard or at least voted in before the boys in NYC go to the table. The company has an agenda, and that agenda is to jam the new paycuts down their throats. They are paying big money to the union busting lawyers, they have us managers ready to go, and most RTSSs on board. The ones that are on board seem to have a lot of concerns about crossing the picket lines if there is a strike. No one want to leave home for any length of time. There also fear for their well being.

If you want to prevent a massacre, you guys must sign up now and show the company that they have more than NYC to worry about and they might back down.

I get this feeling that the company is using this as a tactic to lower the pay across the board and then they won't care if a union is voated in. They would rather have a starting pay that is 400 buck a week lower and have the next regime negotiate up from there. It will show the share holders a larger profit and Bill should get a large going away package when his time is up. Then leave the union to someone else. I call it the Cheadle twist. Look what happened in Australia. Hit was a hit and run.

I am writing you because in my heart, I feel for you. This could have been me few years ago. That is when I became a Manager. I was in rework in NJ, Then they closed up shop. I became an FE servicing ATMs and proof. Then I was a group leader in a union office and moved out to another office doing some proof, atms and cisco. Now I am a TM and I must say I hate it but I have no other options.

I don't know what else to tell you people. Its going to be real tough. The company does not tell us much, but what they do say is they have it all figured out. Typical of this company.

I am not sure if things will work out if the rest of the company does not have a vote in place. But in my heart i do feel that if one or two offices has a successful vote then it will be a lot easier to tame this company. What I will tell you is , out FOD and AFOD are very concerned about getting the work done if there is a strike. They feel that the TEAMSTER will not sit back and allow this latest round of insult hurt their members. I have heard that they have gone to Dayton and pleaded for this not to happened.

The rest of the country must stand together and help the cause. Do it before it too late. The New Yorkers will do their part and the rest of you must do you part. It can't hurt you. Remember, I was in the union and Let me tell you that it breaks my heart to do what I do day in and day out and it would not happen if my crew were in the union.

In this day and age, you guys need protection from corporate America. I can't understand how the think they can get away with this. You must push back. This, In my own opinion, is the start of a workers revolution. People can not sit back and allow big companies do this. It will be the cause of the next great depression.

I am going to step off my soapbox now. You people have the perfect opportunity to do something right for yourselves. The union was good for this company in NYC for so long and now its no good? Bullshit. The union always worked with the company. As a matter of fact, the company always paid the non union offices better for the longest time, but the union stood strong. It wasnt alway about the money. It was about the whole picture. And now look who is suffering. And The company will try and force this crap on NYC. If you all stand strand, and what I mean about that is, Join the union, the company will have to stand down. They can not conduct business with everyone on strike!

I feel for all of you. I was on the other side myself. I wish you all the luck and god speed.

GO UNION NOW!!

One last thing. All of you who read this. Please know that I am a TM and I wish I can go public. I am a god fearing christian and I would not lie. I believe in your cause and feel that I am on the wrong side of this fight. I need a paycheck. You also need a bigger paycheck. I dont carry a toolbag anymore but please know where my heart is. I have been asked to go to NY but let it be known my head and heart wont be in it! Those who know me, will know wrote this. I will deny it. I hope my guys go union. Thet deserve it. They are a great bunch of guys. All of you are a great bunch of guys. You deserve better.

God bless you, Mr TM and thanks for your support. Please get whoever you can to pray this union goes nationwide.

Anonymous said...

Thankyou for being open and honest mr TM. As you can see, this just isn't an issue within NCR alone, it's Corporate America. Corporations want to make more money, and pay workers less for the same work. They do not seem to understand is the workers need to make a decent living from doing their work. I believe alot of other service companys are watching this senario play out. Best get the messege out to all who haven't sent in their cards. The more centers that go union, the stronger the workers voice will be, and the company (NCR) will have no other choice but to listen. GET THEM CARDS IN!!! There is no better timing to get involved. Support is the key to this change. I believe this will be the one and only chance to do it. You have nothing to loose, and so much to gain. This is a one-shot deal, if it fails, I'm sure NCR will put up walls to never even let the word "union" be said.

"Only You, the People can make this Change"

Great..I hope it happens soon...How about rest of us? We need to get things moving..NY needs us as much as we need them. If we get some more regions online then it will be so much easier to get a contract we could live with. The company will not be prepared to fight a multi-front war. They wont have enough RTSSs and managers who will be carrying tool to cover all the calls.

Anonymous said...

To get other regions onboard send Text Messages via the Sprint Phone, go to http://messaging.sprintpcs.com/textmessaging/compose and enter the message and phone# you want to text. Go to your Outlook Address book for phone#'s, click on Show Names from All Groups and look for ACS, Region Name. From there you can get phone#'s of all CE's that are listed and text message them. It takes about 8 hours to send a message to everyone nationwide, believe me, I know.

Hey all you possible SCABS waiting in the wings....RTSS or TM or otherwise...I got some info for you. Make NOTE....this is NOT any kinda THREAT...threats aren't needed...simple facts speak for themselves:You DON'T wanna be a SCAB - no one in their right mind does. There are Millions of Union Members who will Despise you - over 200,000 in the NY metro area alone..!!!!! Your own manager will HATE YOU even if he was the one who told you to go - because he will be Shorthanded while you are gone!!! Your Co-Workers will HATE YOU EVEN MORE because it will be Harder to get any Vacation Time with You GONE!!!! Your loved ones will be worried sick about you. Your neck will be sore from looking over you shoulder 24 by 7 - you know you will!!!! You'll be sick of fast food and crummy Hotels. NCR will expect the Impossible of you, and when it is all over - they won't need you for Jackshit anymore. The EXCUSES that "I have no choice", or "I was just following orders", or "The Devil made me do it" were all tried by former NAZIS at the Nuremburg Trials in 1946 - they didn't work then and they won't work now. In time, the pain will fade, but the Shame you will carry for the rest of your life never will.

You guys tell me...I feel like this one hits right where we need to hit and if we could get this in enough of our newspapers where everyone could read it instead of just the people on this board maybe we could do some good. I can't afford any more pay cuts.

Glad u brought up Nazis. after wwII they studied how the nazis could run the death camps with so few guards and found out they would carefully scope out each barracks of prisoners and identify the ones who would sell out the others. they then made them do allt he dirty work- pick people for the gaschamber quota, rat on those who might resist, etc etc. DOES ALL THIS SOUND FAMILIAR???? now for the best part- the nazis never even promised to let their ratfinks go free...just promised to KILL THEM LAST as long as they STAYED USEFULL....OMG does history repeat itself OR WHAT???

I want him as my TM. Honest and direct. Not much of that in this company. Way to go Mr.TM

Also, when does the southeast vote?
I sent in my card, how about you?
Get off the fence.

I did notice there are those that I talk to that don't want to bother with this union drive, but it seems that these are short term employees who don't see themselves as being here very long.
If you are one of those, please get a card a send it in anyway. As stated in the past, this is not just happening at NCR. If you plan to go elsewhere, do you think it will be much different?
Send in those cards and take a stand now.

JUNE 30th - STRIKE!

This isn't only against the NY Region! This is "Custer's Last Stand"
It offends every CE who ever received an unfair NCR Paycut while
greedy managers feast on our profits!
NCR views Unions as "varmin" (like cockroaches) that can be isolated
and eliminated. YES! They even used the word "eliminated" to explain
their policy on CE3s. ("C"ockroach "E"limination)
YOU must react to this Union-Busting violation by actions in your own
territory that convince NCR of your support for Unionism. Even if you
don't want to join, you must support our Right to Exist!

America was founded on a system of Checks & Balances. 1920s America
recovered from the "Tycoon Era" now it is YOUR chance to address this
"Corporate Greed era".

This BLOG is a blessing that connects all of us in a way that NCR HATES!
Do something UGLY to NCR tomorrow and post it here for all to share!
Revolution doesn't require a signed Card - just BALLS!

Q: If NCR learns that their territories can function without
their TMs and RTSS (off to NYC on Strike Duty), what do
you think will be their "reward" upon returning from their
"C"rusade of "E"xtinction"?

A: a CE2 Hat and $400 / week paycheck!

YEAH! TMs and the RTSS Division should force NCR to sign a "contract"

Except they will not get the Pay Bridge after I cut their salary to shit. After all why should I bridge their pay? Their nothing but back stabbing scabs. If they fuck their own buddy's what will they do to me. Also I will be changing their job title from RTSS to BSSB (BACK STABBING SCUM BAGS).

Good luck in NYC and Jersey you kiss ass dumb fucks. Try not to get any bones broken, I’d hate to be you. But to a good job for me. I love my money and my new CE3 money. And soon my new RTSS money.

I would like to believe
I sent in my card with the hope that things will get better but I have my doubts. Part of that doubt comes from the innate pessimistic personality I have, but mainly it’s I see this too far gone. You know when I started a years few back, I met older CE 5+ years who didn’t know how to read a Meter or read a wiring diagram. I was shocked, and still am on how crappy the equipment and training is in general.
Example, Customers from what I have seen hate our Fastlanes. (It got really bad after Walmart turned on the bag scales) but it goes much deeper than this. I am asked does NCR stand behind out equipment? Yes I try? But I would like to answer, NCR may design systems like the fastlanes, but most of those components are not manufactured by us nor are they refurbished by NCR . But it still reflects upon me as citizen of such a small city. People remember me not just for me as I am, but for the quality and the service the company as a whole provides. I have customers who ask me “ is the part going to work this time?” or “ Why does this always break?”
NCR , your quality is in question every day.
Our repretation is linked to the quality of the components used to complete the whole. If NCR contracts out to a poor 3rd party vendor for design, refurbishing or whatever, the line suffers along with CE’s that are paid to support them. This compounded by sending CE’s that have never seen the equipment. (or can’t read a Flute)
While getting my haircut I saw a NCR Register dated 1910 sitting there (STILL WORKS) .This made me remember going to school in Dayton and meeting all those 25+ veterans. I felt in awe in their abilities and the knowledge they had; these men who made the retail industry what it is today. Hearing those stories of sugarcamp and seatec or those heart pounding bet your job days, made me feel that I missed something very challenging and unique. It seems that NCR has lost that pride long long ago. Pride in what NCR is and what it can do. Looking at that Register it came to me. It not about fantastic service or about people who fight to make it right everyday or even what stands out as great examples of craftsmen ship (like that register). It’s all about helping others be fulfilled and very rich. Not only do I help make them get disgustingly rich, I am left behind to fix the crap they call quality. I have sat by in the background now for the past week to see if any of the ce's in the north west would grow some balls and get their cards sent in, it seems that they are scared of what might happen. I dare say they ought to be scared of what IS going to happen if they dont get their cards in. Remote areas will be outsourced to other companies and they will be left without a job. I have tried my best, and now its up to God, and those ce's who are sitting there on the fence. I implore you to please get those cards sent it. Protect your job.
If you need a card send me an email to the west ibew rep at

MESSAGE FROM BILL NUTTY

I just want you NY guys to know I have made an important decision. Since the town will not grant a special injunction to keep you pesky union shits away from my house. I am anchoring my new yacht which I now affectionately named the SEA-E-3. Off of my most favorite place in the world Cherry Grove, Fire Inland. That’s where I'll be living until this strike thing is over. Try holding your picket signs in 30 feet of water you bitches.

I'm staying neutral so that I can be like a reporter on the debate. Search for NCR IBEW and you should find my site listed first in google.

Anonymous said...

Hey Chris,

So if you were in the military and acting as a reporter on the war. Would you be neutral while our guy's are getting their asses shot off? If the answer is yes I don't think you would last very long.

If you are neutral you have already chosen a side and it's not the people you are in the fox hole with.

Anonymous said...

Listen..Lay off chris.. He has made himself a target by using his name publicly. He must remain neutral to the public.

Anonymous said...

Yup, I've got a big target on me by using my name publicly and listing my website on the internet with all the IBEW information, so I have to stay neutral.

Don't even compare this to a "war". This is nothing like a real war.

Workers' new worry: 'Reclassification'
Time cards

IBM employees on Tuesday plan to protest the company's practice of "reclassification," or changing salaried workers to hourly ones. It's a word that's getting a lot of play in corporate America these days. Lisa Napoli reports.

MESSAGE FROM BILL NUTTY

Since there still is no IBEW union I'm assuming there are a lot of girly men CEs with no balls. Well I have a great job opportunity for a selected few as deck hands aboard my yacht the SEA-E-3.

Qualifications are simple you must look good in the new SEA-E-3 uniform and kiss my ass regularly (no change in your normal behavior). You'll love the uniform I designed it myself. It is so simple an NCR polo shirt, Speedo bathing suit and clogs.

No old fucks, so X CE3s who can't help but kiss my ass and still did not send your union cards in sorry. Well not really, so go to the EEOC and file some more age discrimination charges. Like I give a shit I'll have my golden parachute when and if the government comes down on my ass.

Strike duty is going to so much fun aboard the SEA-E-3. I can give my new deck hands raises one week and take it away the next and watch them kiss my ass for doing it. It's so good to be Queen I mean King I mean Captain.

As always HA RAY for me and FUCK YOU.

Your friend (yea right)

Listen Up..The NCR CE can and will set the stage for a worker's revolution. If we can get the union going, many other Company techs or FEs or CEs will go union. Lets teach these companies that we are their future.. and not the low cost untrain labor force that the are looking for!!!

Anonymous said...

The new refined corporate way is to pummel/rape and pillage the lower workers. Cut pay, lower their job description pay scale, package off the higher tiered workers. Keep a few higher tiered workers as"specialists" to help and mentor the new hires. A very sad senario. Not just NCR doing this. It's the new corporate model. A false wall has been put up between the workers and leaders. The new CEO's do not care about a persons quality of life. They will line their pockets with greed and not be a people company. Very few people companies will exist. Money over people. People used to be a great resource, now, their nothing. A comodity, like bread, flour or milk. Use the contenets and throw away the package.Poeple want to be treated with respect. This new model of a corporation will put the worker at war with their own employer.Very unfortuneate. Let's see how many have jobs here by June.Their doing another head-count.I see more job's being eliminated, rebanded, or outsourced. Bottom line is to cut operating expenses because a company isn't growing in the marketplace. Mentality of the leaders is everyone else is doing it to keep compeditive. Tt's not that a corporation can't compete, it's because their share of the market isn't increasing, so they cut on the inside. They cut core operations expenses. Shot time descisions with long terms affects. I have lost toal loyalty to NCR. It's gone. It has affected how I do my job. I do the absolute minmum. There is not reward for performing above set parameters. NCR has taken my drive away. I hate corporations now. Rather work for a small mom and pop business.SLA's, who cares, just make them all a CPC charge type calls. Clone some too. If a part will make you loose your SLA, just change it to a charge type call. It doesn't matter, NCR doesn't bill the customer anyways. We do alot of work for free. You would think the Account Manager would bill the customer, but they don't. They won't because they will do anything, even loose revenue to keep their customer base. According to one Account Manager, she said to me do any call they create just to keep them happy. I do alot of calls thay are actually CPC calls, and charge overtime to these calls. You would think they would bill the customer to offset the labor, but they don't. I see alot of revenue loss. Revenue loss that would offset operating costs. We are all puppets w/o a voice. The only hope is to send in my card. If this union doesn't go, I'm getting out. By fall the only one left will be Bill Nuti, doing service calls with his new jet. He doesn't need us. I don't need him. I do have some fight left in me. If I'm still here and the union is certified, it will make it all worth while. It's us against them it seems, and we didn't start this. So pick your team, them or us. Union or non Union. We have been put in a situation that needs fixing. Only we can fix it. Send in your card. Take care.

NCR has added two additional directors to its board of directors, the company announced Tuesday.

Richard Clemmer and Robert DeRodes were appointed to the board after the company's annual meeting April 23 and will be up for re-election at NCR's 2009 annual meeting.

Clemmer is a senior adviser to New York-based Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., and a member of the board of directors of ¡2 Technologies Inc. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Agere Systems Inc.

DeRodes has been executive vice president and chief information officer for The Home Depot and previously served as president and chief executive officer of Delta Technology Inc.

The additions to the board will bring NCR's (NYSE: NCR) total number of directors to eight members.

NCR is the Dayton region's second-largest company with $4.97 billion in revenue in 2007. It employs 1,300 people locally and 20,000 worldwide.

Question for the day...Is everyone ready for change for the better?

Anonymous said...

Yesterday my TM asked if I was a team player , and I responded, I depends on what team he is talking about!!! Then he asked if anyone was interested in strike duty.. No one publically answered.. He has got a lot of balls to ask that question.. There is not enough money in this world that would make me cross a picket line or to ride that public toilet of a subway in NY.. No Offense NY..I guess the RTSSs are pushing back.. I also heard if there is a strike in NY, All vacation is cancelled for everyone else.

To all you non-believers..believe this. That without a union, you will be belittled, bewildered, and crusified by this company. It is time to sign your cards and send them in...we must go to a vote..the Northeast is almost ready. The rest should follow...come on and vote. You all vote in a political election. Who all call vote for a union. Help yourselves. Help your co-workers and help your company survive..

Anonymous said...

This is what I know...The company is ready to outsource..I bet it is in about 1 year, give or take..There is a rumor that the company offered the union in NY a 1 year contract with no pay cuts and a raise. Whay you ask? Well I will tell you. It was cheaper to keep the present workforce in place for another year and then throw them out when the contract was done. They need a year to find an outsourcer that has coverage everywhere. Then the outsource will need to train and probably hire some of us at the present payscale that the present CE2 makes.

Now listen up. If there is a union in place with a contract that moves forward for several years, the company will find it dam near impossible to find replacements for us..We need to sign those cards. We need a union..
The guys in NYC make more that $10000 a years more than the top paid CE2.

STOP AND THINK ABOUT IT..IF WE DON'T GET THIS UNION ON BOARD, IT WILL BE THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!

CHRIS..PLEASE PUT THIS ON YOUR BLOG.

To The Poster Above: This is very similar how it happened here in Canada. It took NCR aprrox. 1 year to find an outsourcing company. I am unsure of the exact amount per call NCR pays the outsourcing company, but from the information I gathered it is about $120 per call. This is a flat rate the outsourced company gets per call, be the call be close by or 2 hours travel time one way. The outsourcing first started with the remote areas. The outsourcing company does not do PM's as a proper PM takes a few hours and the flat rate does not cover the costs. If they do outsource, the outsourcing company will try to hire on at least one NCR tech to train and mentor, after 6 months or so, they usually will lay off, or terminate the former NCR employee and put their own selected employee in that position. For those who apply and are hired by the outsourcing company, you will be paid approx. $14.00 per hour. Overtime is eliminated, as they pay straight time or actual running time per hour at your regular rate. You will sign a contract with the outsourcing company and agree to their employment terms, thus eliminating protection from the labor board. Foreget about having a service van, they will give you a Ford Focus station wagon.Remote areas that should have 3 people to cover the shifts will have only 2. You will run FLM, SLM calls, and if the outsourcing company does their own equipment, you will do their calls also. Eliminating the overtime is the only way an outside company can make money on this contract. The company they use in Western Canada (excluding BC, as it is union) is AMPM Service Ltd. To be on call after regular hours, you get $1.00 per hour to carry a pager. If your called out, you get actual running time the call took to complete, and not at an overtime rate of 1.5 per hour. The selected outsourcing company will still have SLA's to report to NCR. So nothing changes there. If you have any questions about outsourcing, leave me a question on this forum, I check in here daily to feel the NCR pulse. You can stop all this by getting going on this Union. The more territories that join the better. I reccommend especially the remote techs get involved here. Right now, it's a race against time to get these cards in and get majority intrest in joining the union. If you have a card, haven't sent it in, get it in. This is how NCR will do it, outsource your jobs. It's cruel information, sorry, but it happened to me. Goodluck and take care.

Of course I'm going to out source Customer Engineering, you dumb shits. Why do you think I cut the CE3 salaries and pay all of you like illegal aliens?

The funny thing is I'm treating you people like worthless shits and still no union.

But I have some good news. Since there are so many CEs without balls who did not send their cards in. I've decided to name the new outsourced company in your honor. "BILLS BITCHES" corp.

And just like the CE deck hands aboard my new yacht the SEA-E-3. I have designed uniforms for our new company. I made them special for you kiss ass pussys who did not vote in the IBEW as a special thanks. You will wear a "BILLS BITCHES logo dress shirt, spandex and of course clogs.

X CE3 kiss asses who did not send in their cards need not apply. Sorry no old fucks. Yes I know its age discrimination again. SUE ME.

NCR is sinking so fast thanks to me the only thing left floating will be my precious SEA-E-3 with all the company's money in it.

As usual HA RRAY for me and FUCK YOU.

Excuse ME,

What if this attitude spills over onto our CUSTOMERS? 8-)

At least Cheat-le has now agreed to "mock" negotiations with the TEAMSTERS - not "Make no mistake; the changes ultimately will extend to New York . . "

Cheat-le needs a new Speech Writer (too much "foot -in-mouth" disease)

I would like to see everyone that spends all this time posting crap on this site spend a fraction of that time getting an address list to Bobby or trying to talk to a new person. We are not going to get anywhere writing on this board. If people don't know about it they can't read it here can they.
Spend less time venting and more time trying to get the word out and we may be able to get something done.
Changes are coming. We need to act now or be left in the dust.

Without a Union representing the tech's, don't expect to have a balanced life. Your owned and operated by NCR. Give your head a shake. NCR is going to outsource your job. It is cheaper to lease people than it is to own them. Leased people are a tax write off. Remember the term *creative accounting* NCR has found outsourcing to be cheaper than to own and operate. Any company that is an official NCR vendor is in a good negotiating position to service NCR pos & atm equipment. The chosen vendor may or maynot hire you. If your 40 and over, they probably will not hire you. If they do hire you, it will be to train their people then eliminate you. You will be paid less than you are being paid at NCR. You will work on other brand name pos and atm equipment. You will not be paid overtime rates. You will sign a contract with the vendor and any labor laws that protect you will be waived. NCR will still control the vendor by monitoring SLA's. If you think you are working alot now, you will work more, for less. Are you taking any steps in protecting your career? You better. I'm not going to tell you what to do. This blog should. Your job is being negotiated away to a vendor. Notice in Canada, no jobs were outsourced in British Columbia (B.C.) ? NCR is UNIONIZED in B.C. Their protected. They joined the IBEW and have a contract. Canada is a very good example of what is about to happen in the US. How do I know all this? My job with NCR was outsourced.

MESSAGE FROM BILL NUTTY

Emergency! Emergency!

Mr. Cheatem has notified me that the NY union men are sending threatening text messages to our girly men CEs. Now listen up Mr. Cheat has sent you union men with real balls an e-mail. Informing you to stop scaring our little kiss-ass CEs who haven't sent their cards in.

Well I'm going to show you how tough my union-phobic pussy CEs can be. As you know I will be living aboard my new yacht the SEA-E-3, anchoring off my most favorite fun place Cherry Grove, Fire Island. This is during union negotiations because my town won't keep those union people from picketing my estate. They say it’s because of the constitution or something stupid like that.

Well since I'm going to need protection aboard the Sea-E-3. I will need to hire security people. So here is another great opportunity for my CE bitches. I need strong CEs who are scared of unions, can lift a lot of weights, able do plenty of sit ups and push-ups. Also you must look good in the new uniforms I designed.
It consists of an NCR muscle shirt, Speedo bathing suit, red head-bandana, black eye-patch, sword and belt, and of course Italian high-heeled pumps so you can stomp on those union tough guys.

As usual X CE3 kiss ass old fucks need not apply. Sorry, not really. Sue me. But thanks for not sending your cards in you stupid bitches.

I feel so safe now with my union-phobic security CE pussys on board. Strike duty is going to be so much fun we can have sword fights and make each other walk the plank. I can’t wait.

Again HA RRAY for me and FUCK YOU.

Thanks again for nothing

A country that is in the middle of a war on terrorism. Costing American Trillons of dollars. Oil companies running the price of gas and heating oil thru the ceiling with no signs of relief in sight. This translated to truckers making less money because the price to run the trucks, plane, and ships have gone up. Well guess what? The price of food, homes, medicine, doctors, cars, and lets face it, the price of everything has gone up. Interest rate have dropped, so whatever moneies you have in the bank earns less..

And what has happenened to us, Pay cuts, the price if medical coverege has gone up, work harder for less, get dumped on by CT and my boss, and the moral around here is in the crapper. We have nothing to believe that things are going to get better around here for us.

The company has shown growth for several quarters now and all we get for it is a shit paycheck, a shitty bonus and more work.. Why should the CEs not benefit for all the success that NCR has shown. Are we not part of the reason for all the Success? I am sure that all Employees upstairs made a lot of money and yet we are getting squashed out little by little. This company keeps talking about parity amongst the masses, yet it obviously does noy include the CE. Before you know it, we will eliminated all together. Our jobs will be outsourced. And the boys upstairs will make even more money!! We will be out on the street wondering what we did to deserve this?

The only bright star on the horizon is the threat of a Union. Its a threat to the company.. Not for the workers. What we need to do is get the word out to our coworker who either have not decided because of fear and uncertainty. Or to the CEs who still have not even heard much about this movement. I wish I knew how to get the message out in one swift motion but i don't know how. I guess its up to us to do it by word of mouth. It is your right. It is your responsibility to you Families and co workers to have representation. The company has representation with all of the business school graduates and fancy lawyers. Why shouldn't you and I. We all think that we know what is right for us. But we don't. We do not know all the law that protect us, but the union does. We do not know all our rights as employees, but the union does. Why not give it a chance? I am willing to risk it all. If we don't sign with the union, we are going to lose it all. We now have an opportunity to right this wrong. I do not want to hurt my company and put me out of a job but if we do not do something soon, they will put us out. I dont know what else to say. I guess what I am trying to say is please make a list of pros and cons. Discuss this with your coworkers and families. I am sure the pros will outweight the cons. Dont listen to me. Listen to you little person inside of each and every one of you and I am sure you will make the right choice and sign those cards.

WE MUST REACT NOW..BEFORE WE LOSE THIS WIDOW OF OPPORTUNITY..

PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL!

NUT JOB you are funny to read for the most part but you sir are an idiot. Valid points you make but no tact. If I were on the fence and reading what you write that would not make the difference.
We are trying to gain support for the cause not for your standup career. How bout you drop the foul words. I know you won't and you'll be the first one whining when nothing happens and we miss our opportunity cause no one got the people off the fence. More important to try and be funny.

I certainly agree with "we all need this union"

does anyone know of a specific area that needs to be contacted. Lets take a poll. Can a person from each office post what office you are from. All we need is the 3 digit id. It is obvious that if you answers this question, you are aware of this site. maybe you can take responsibility for getting in touch with your co-workers and let the know about this movement and let them know how to get a card or how to get in touch with someone in the union.

LISTEN UP..Let make a big push and restart what seemed to be a good start for orginizing. It seem like it hit a plateu. But It should pick up where it has left off and get a union voted in!!!

Please...lets not wait to see if NY gets a new contract. They are in a different situation than us. They have a team of negoitators speaking for them..We need one representing us. Ie need all of us on board to regain what we have lost. Even if NYC loses and is forced to take paycuts, do you think its going to stop the union there. No way. That machine will contin ue to move forward to will back any take backs..

We can make big strides in regaining what we have lost. It will grow to where we can return to life as we remembered it. Why dont we give this a try? We have nothing to lose. We will not pay an ounce in union dues if we don't get contract. And if we don't get this union on board, quite frankly, we will be outsourced in the very need future anyway.

I was to continue working, dont you?

RTSS...(Regular Technician Stupid Schmuck).

QUESTION? EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT A SCHMUSK IS, RIGHT?

ANSWER.. ITS THE FORESKIN OF THE PENIS. THE SKIN THAT GETS CUT OUT AT A CIRCUMSISION OR JEWISH BRIS.

AND THE RTSSs ARE THE FORESKIN OF THE COMPANY. BOTH PENIS' AND RTSS' WILL SUFFER THE SAME PLIGHT. BOTH EVENTUALLY GET CUT OFF...BYE BYE..

RTSSs KNOW WHAT I MEAN...

YOU still don't Get IT!

Take the Pay-cut ~or~ Destroy the Customer Base!

We are a Union that will decide this TOGETHER "and we'll all go down together"

REMINDER: If our Major Banks Customer Base is DESTROYED, YOU LOSE TOO!

LOOK IN THE MIRROR and ASK YOURSELF:

Do I deserve 30% LESS?

THEN SIGN YOUR CARD (AND MAIL IT IN)

Instead of coming up with all these vulgar cracks and worthless words, why not find a number and call someone.
Those I have called and invited to this site may be turned off by this kind of behavior. Cool it before you blow it for all of us.
Stay focused on what we need. More votes. Although funny to a point, most of this stuff does nothing to gain more numbers.
From what I see through calling, this drive is in the tank. Most people I have talked to don't even know about this drive.
Get off your keyboard and start calling. Stop your crying!!!

Hey Mr. Polite.

Whatever fires a jolt to get these guys off their asses and send the cards in is fine with me. I don't see anything worthless except a bunch of guys who got their salary cut, a 1% raise, and are getting their job outsourced and still have not voted in a union.

You don't know how hard other people have worked and the risks they have taken to get this union in. You’re not the only one who's doing their part. And frankly I AM FUCKING FRUSTRATED. And that’s not the last fucking fuck word your going to see from me.

You want to play Mr. nice and kiss their ass that’s fine with me. Whatever works? You take the high road I'll take the low road. If the high road works I’ll jump up there with you. Just let’s get this union in before it's too late.
