I got my check yesterday, and want to thank Michelle also. As She said, its nowhere near what it should have cost them for years of abuseing other human beings, and, in spite of the suit, they are still doing it everyday. Who out there gets a chance to take an undisturbed hour for lunch daily?? You check out to lunch and the calls just keep on coming, RIM going off, phone ringing, how can you relax and eat with all the turmoil. These people at NCR are trained to harras you just enough to keep you on edge all the time, afraid they are going to fire you and put you on the street, even though all you are doing is following the rules THEY lay out for you to follow. We need a union to go to to put these pissy managers in their place when they do wrong, and they doing a LOT wrong. I hope I see the day when there is an outlet to see these managers getting what they deserve. We need an entire realignment of managers, in my area the managers are all part of who kissed whos butt, not weather they are qualified, most of them have less than 5 years with the company and somehow are made managers, I thought HR would stop an unqualifed person from getting a position they didn't meet the qualifications for, but not in this company anymore, they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. Remember that..Nuti and company are out here right now trying to figure out how to screw you again. Did you notice that in spite of all these economy issues they "dragged" enough money out to buy yet another kiosk software company yesterday?? There goes any raises and bonuses again this year.

"Is there anything else NCR isn't telling you about??"

Yes! The truth!!!

Did you see Nutis interview last week on BNN? That was followed by an analyst on NCR.

Nuti said that the future of NCR was software and services; Blockbuster DVD and kiosks. This was in light of 10% reduction in work force of 22,000 globally. He also said that Ohio didnt provide enough depth in talent for expansion. Finally that Georgia offered close to $100M to relocate to Georgia and Ohios bid was considerably less. According to Nuti the future looks rosy especially with $1B in cash.

The analyst said that the pension plan was underfunded by $1B, the Blockbuster initiative was not core or sustaining, and wondered asked if the company can be acquired in whole or part. He said that the future road ahead will be rough for some time based on customer buying cycles and competition,

So is $10.00 good? Look at the current trend which is downward and perhaps when it bottoms out, it could be a good deal. I can see it going lower.

What I want to know is why you don't take an undisturbed lunch? (to one of the above posters). There is nothing that says you can't turn off your phone or rim or leave it in your vehicle while you do lunch! I'm sorry but I am on the other side of the fence on this. If you aren't getting a full undisturbed lunch it is your own fault.

Anonymous said...

If you worked at a "normal" jod like they like to make comparison too when its to their advantage, you wouldn't have to turn off your phone and rim or leave it in another place. you would clock or sign out to lunch and you would be able to leave and return when your lunch period is over. Here, when you sign out for lunch, theres nothing in place to stop the calls and control tower from calling you, even when your whereabouts say lunch. And the SLAs keep on running and if you miss one and the explaination is that you took lunch, thats not an acceptable reason for missing an SLA. Either way, if you want to leave your phone and rim in your van, have at it, but that doesn't change that your lunch is going to be included in your day when they assign you calls that the SLA is running on, if you have an ATM with a 2 hour response, and its an hour away, you will likely miss the SLA on that call unless you cut your lunch short, and thats assumeing thats the only call you have.

Anonymous said...

Your correct about taking a lunch and missing the SLA's. The way I look at it is I don't give a crap. There not going to give me a raise whether or not I make my SLA's so the hell with them. The only way we'll get a raise is if the IBEW is voted in.

Anonymous said...

So what if they are calling you and you miss an sla. that's not our problem. If they want you to make all the sla's they need to hire more people. If you keep giving away your lunches they will never change.. All you are doing is hurting everyone by giving your time away..

I dont care said...

I don't care if the SLA's are made, I don't care if anything gets fixed, I don't care if NCR makes money! They created the new NCR CE culture when they rebanded us!

Anonymous said...

Probably more good things about unions than bad but the worst thing is that poor performing workers are too protected and hard to fire. Prime examples of that are the teacher unions and the history of the auto industry.
But for many industries, including NCR service, most of the employees are dedicated and you need to keep them satisfied. It shouldn't be hard to weed out the bad from the good and, even with a union's input and approval, be able to field a happy, properly compensated, dedicated work force...one that makes the company plenty of money and sustains the customer base.
I would vote for that.

Anonymous said...

I'm with you, I don't care about SLAs either, years of hard work has netted me a rebanding, cut in benefits, no raises, frozen retirement, no retirement health care, everything that was promised to me when I was offered this job has been removed. All I am saying is that a person should be able to do as they please in an UNPAID period during the day, and this job doesn't allow for that. But, when it come to things like "commute" time for an extra hour a day, then you are put back into the "normal" job catagory. My wife works a "normal" job, she leaves 15 mins before her shift and starts work after she gets there. We have to work parts, read e-mail, courier crap to fed ex, and if you listen to what these managers try to tell people, you still need to be at your 1st call at the start of shift. So when do they propose you do all the other crap they throw at you?? On your OWN time?? NO WAY.. The union guys get admin time as part of the day. There are people getting fired for not keeping up with parts because they are being told to get out and run calls, not allowing time to get their parts in order. I'm not making excuses for anyone, I know there are some people that would take all day to work 2 parts, but there has to be some allowance to get the misc. things that are required of you to get the job done and not have people crawling all over you to get out the door and run calls. Maybe we need to go back to having an office so the managers would have to get out of their "virtual" (home) offices and be able to watch people work parts. And then they would have to pay day care and stuff like the other people in the world.

Anonymous said...

Then you give the manager an option. Would you like me to do my surplus or run calls? And do it via email from your rim so that it is in writing and keep the response. He will say you should be doing your parts every call. Ok. Then do them every call. I know you guys gotta be smarter than you are showing here. Processing my parts takes no more than 2 hrs a week or so. I can do about 10 parts and hour. I drop them off at fedex when i pick up parts. My surplus is basically zero. It ain't that hard folks. But like I said..give your manager an option and get it all on email so it can't be used against you!!

once you go union said...

To the blogger above. I agree with you. I aint that hard. Parts is a small part of my day. What is difficult is that my manager, who is unreachable for most of the day, give our escalation mgr card blanche to do what she wants and she now thinks shes my boss. I do not like it. and she is also a sneaky little witch. She will call you with you manager on line muted and start pushing your buttons and when you push back, his phone goes un-muted and steps into the conversation. that drives me crazy. management does not trust the crew and you all know how we feel! what ever happened to the good old days when you saw your mgr regularly and had a few minutes to chat about the ball game or family. Now they rather cane you or threaten you. this is why we should take a stand and show this company we mean business and join his union. Its not all about the money. its about being treating with respect

Where's MY Check?? said...

Attn: CE’s who didn’t receive their settlement checks as expected:

After speaking to the 3rd party administrator, here’s what I have learned.

If you didn’t receive your check, the most likely reason is that it was sent to the wrong address.

You need to send a letter to the following address, stating you didn’t receive your check and clearly stating your current correct address.

The administrator will reissue you a check if the check is returned to them. If the check does not get returned to them, you must wait for the check

to become void which is not until 180 days (6 months) after the date they were issued (Oct 29,2009) before they can reissue you a new check.

Since NCR was who provided your address to the administrator, it might be a good time to make sure that you update your information with NCR as well.

If you haven't sent in your card, why not? Why do you believe someone who has a contract when he tells you that you don't need one? Do you think management cares anything more about you than whether they can get your job done cheaper without you? You want to believe them, you hope things will get better, you might even settle for things not getting worse. How's that workin' out for ya? Send in your card, vote for the union.

Management will say anything to get you to do what they want. They haven't cared about the peoples welfare at this company since Hurd took over, and its even worse with Nuti and company. The only way to get some security is to get a union contract and thats even a little shakey because they are trying to devalue the company enough to make someone want to buy the walmart and atm businesses. Meanwhile the execs, make millions off the sale and they sail away in their yachts to meet up with all the other rich dudes that do the same thing. They do not want to make this a viable company with happy employees and customers or they wouldn't be looking in every crevase to find a way to eliminate your jobs and go to the cheapest bidder. You would think woth all that fancy education they would have learned, you get what you pay for. Remember your grandma telling you that, it still applies..

Response to the 2 previous posts above:

1) The Vote out in California is going on right now. It is being conducted as a mail in vote, so the NLRB sent out the ballots on Nov 3rd and they must be returned by Nov 17th. I plan to be present when the votes are counted, and I will post the results on this site just as soon as I can get to a computer. I'm very optimistic about the outcome based on conversations with CE's out here.

2) Who is Jeremy Thacker? Is he maybe a TM? This seems to be a common theme among many managers that are over the CE's. NCR tries to make them out to be rogue managers that are not following corporate guidelines, but how can a majority of them be considered rogue?? I guess we would have to ask the same people who calculated the numbers used out here during the anti-union meetings NCR held. Seems awfully simple to me that if people are making less than the reported "minimum", how can it actually be considered the minimum?? Something is missing here, but if its out of your paycheck good luck trying to have it fixed by our HR or payroll depts.
But anyway, I would be happy to offer you a few suggestions to deal with this practice, but please contact me personally.

From Dayton Daily News:
By John Nolan, Staff Writer 4:17 PM Thursday, November 12, 2009
DAYTON — NCR Corp. is dissolving First Level Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary that provides information technology support and service, to reduce duplication of services within NCR and save money, company spokesman Peter Tulupman said Thursday, Nov. 12.
Management anticipates that the majority of First Level Technology’s employees will be able to switch to other jobs within NCR’s customer service operation, Tulupman said from his office in New York. He declined to say how many employees First Level Technology has, or how many will lose their jobs.
The subsidiary is expected to go out of existence early in 2010, Tulupman said.
First Level Technology is based in Austin, Texas. NCR acquired it in 1999 when the business was called Permond Solutions.
NCR announced in June that it would move its world headquarters and nearly 1,300 jobs from Dayton, where the company has been for 125 years, to the Atlanta suburb of Duluth, Ga.

I agree with the person that said the company makes it sound like its just a few managers and not company policy. But all the managers seem to preach the same sermon, come in early, work late, lunch in the van between calls and only charge for 8 hours, everything else is commute time. Its time to take a stand, either get the union or another class action lawsuit that stops these illegal practices that are obviously advocated from the very top. Even the CE handbook says that you need to commute for an hour a day for free, I am pulling email on a company lap top, talking on a company cell phone and driving a company van, how can that not be considered work time?? They will do anything to get you to work extra for free, thats the "new" NCR under Nuti

Anonymous said...

Does anybody here do the math, Nuti's "salary" is 1 million dollars. Thats just the begining, but even if that's "Total" compensation, its about $481 an hour, $19231 a week. That's crazy when they begrudge paying $20 an hour to us. Also, He started out with 5 weeks of vacation, something we have to wait 24 years for. GET A CONTRACT NOW!!!

Anonymous said...

Screw Nuti and his salary. We will never have any say in that. But if we vote in a Union we might be able to control how we are treated and there is a very good chance we can at least get a wage increase yearly!

Do Americans deserve a pay cut?
Is it our fault that unemployment is so high? Some say Americans should be paid less.

Posted by InvestorPlace on Friday, November 13, 2009 3:15 PM
By James Dlugosch

Is it any wonder that so many Americans worry about global trade when you see commentary like this recent New York Times article regarding American wages?

Is our whole unemployment problem is the fault of U.S. workers who are paid entirely too much? With foreign workers willing to do the job for less, there is little hope for the job market without a further decline in U.S. wages.

That's right. You and I need a pay cut. Are you kidding me?

The last thing we need in this country is a pay decrease for a majority of our population.

Wal-Mart, Retailers, Give Mixed Signals for Holidays

The gap between rich and poor in this country is already much too big. Many are working more and more and taking in less and less.

This path is a recipe for disaster. To contend that the path need be accelerated is foolhardy.

It is far too simplistic for proponents of global trade to claim that foreign countries can simply make things for less. There are many factors that drive prices and wages, including domestic regulations, wage and labor laws, and currency valuations.

For many years now the United States worker has been competing on a field that is far from equitable. During this time, most of us did not complain due to the incredible advantages that came from our productivity gains and educational advantages.

In other words, it did not matter much that the rest of the world was cheating when it came to fair trade. We could win the battle with our hands tied behind our backs -- and our hands were indeed tied behind our backs.

The game, though, is catching up to us, and our advantages are no longer so vast. It makes a difference that our foreign trade partners allow companies to produce goods and services without regard to fair wages, the environment or currency values.

It is unlikely that fair wages, labor laws or environmental regulations will be changed in a substantial way to the benefit of American workers. Instead the light at the end of the tunnel has to be with respect to the deflating dollar.

Weakness in our currency, not a decrease in wages, will result in unemployment reversing course. To the extent exports increase, we will see our manufacturing snap back in a big hurry.

Despite utterances in support of the dollar, the Federal Reserve, in tandem with the government, are cheering the greenback's collapse. Prices of certain goods or services may increase as a result, but that is far better than the alternative of further declines in real wages.

If anything, U.S. wages need to increase. A healthy, strong and properly motivated workforce is what will make this country great again.

I'm not saying there's anything that will (or necessarily should) be done about Nutis salary, however, with the gap between executive salaries and the workers salary getting wider all the time, it seem only fair that when the axe starts swinging, they get cut as well as the folks that work for their repective companies. How does taking from us and not joining in promote the teamwork they always talk about? Simple, it doesn't, it only serve to remind us that they think of themselves as being better than us, and not one of us. Thats why the union is being brought up at all is because the management of this company has gone from a felling of mutual respect to an "us against them" feeling, and that also cuts peoples productivity because they feel like we feel now. The more we do, the more we get to do, and we get no reward. Why bust your butt out there everyday when you kow there is no raise, no bonus, unfair treatment, downright being bullied by managers, and some of other guys don't care one little bit and they get the same as you get. The morale is at an all time low and management doesn't seem to care, all they do is send out e-mails and have webcasts and bypass the tough questions. What are they goning to do about the morale? Apparently nothing, because all that gets talked about is how tough times are, they cut our pay, then they go spend "undisclosed amounts" to buy up another company. I have never been a union person, but I think its high time that we get someone on our side, some of us have tried to fight the battles, only to get beat down or threatened with our jobs if we don't shut up. Its easy for some to say find another job, but after 25+ years, thats easier said than done. Also, for the first years of our career, NCR was a good company to work for, and we always hold on to the belief that we can achieve that again. Even though our minds tell us that the old companies gone, our hearts still say there enough of the older people out there to turn it around.

For the last 10 years at least NCR has benn in some sort of reorganization, they use the same excuses,ie) because we are in a reorganization, the economy is bad, and margins are getting tighter and tighter we can't afford to buy new tools or training or anything. This company has to be the leader in reorganizing. It's never going to change. Force their hand and vote in representation now.

Election Results From California:
IBEW- 65
NCR- 72
The IBEW lost by 7 votes.

NCR had to spend top dollar in order to win this election. They hired Jackson Lewis to run their campaign, who trained H/R and your managers just what to say and how to say it, they held meetings where you were told one lie after another, and used intimidation and threats to remain in complete control.

Dave (the lead organizer for the IBEW) and I were present for the counting of the votes yesterday.
Who do you think was there to represent NCR? Who cared enough to find out?

Chris Cheadle, Vicki Rennick, Steve Battleson?
Nope-
Representing NCR was an attorney from Jackson Lewis.

So I say to the CE's who voted no:
I hope you realize that the message you just sent to NCR is this:
1)It's ok for you to cut our pay
2)We don't need to play a part in decisions that affect us on a daily basis
3)You can lie to us all you like, and we won't say a damn thing about it(not even when we know for sure that you are lying).

We'll sit through meetings designed to give us "the facts" and still listen to lies.

What a shame that your future wasn't important enough to fight for.
I wish you the best of luck.

You seem to have forgot that the one and only time it was important enough at NCR to hold meetings for the CE's, and bring everyone together at one time, it was so NCR could act like they cared and they wanted to listen to your concerns.

However, it was their only goal to prevent having to negotiate with you.

Well, thanks to you they won. NCR doesn't have to negotiate with you about anything.

If they were to announce tomorrow,"for economic reasons, and to remain competitive in the industry, everyone will be cut back to 2 weeks vacation."
Guess what you could do about?
Absolutely nothing.
Besides, you've already shown how you'll go along with them anyway.

I'm sorry you missed out on this opportunity for a brighter future.
The next time NCR takes something away from you, remember that it was:

YOU that voted not to have a contract

YOU who didn't want to negotiate and

YOU who will not to have a voice to do anything about it.

Congratulations.

Well, it looks like NCRs top notch liers got just enough people to agree not to change a thing. Bad thing is, when the big areas vote for no change the rest of the country gets screwed also. I have worked in the 771 area and its full of contractors that are filling in to do work that the regular CEs can't get done, not to mention they are flying people in there all the time to do the same thing. Work that can't de done by full time people, means that theres too much work to do and we NEED MORE PEOPLE. But, that being said, the votes are in and once again, the IBEW got voted out. Like was said earlier, I hope that the same people that voted no aren't in here bitching in a few weeks when they get the same old crap that has become habitual in managers treatment of employees across the nation. While we are trining contractors to take our jobs away, I hope all of you that voted no sleep well at night, and I hope the bed and house you are sleeping in are paid for, because soon you will be in competition for the contract work that is out there and if you don't get the job, you don't get paid.

Sue NCR Again? What you already spent all your money from the last one? You people need to get a clue and start protecting yourselves with a Union or get another job.

Anonymous said...

I agree, if sueing NCR is the only way to get paid for your work, why the hell was the union voted down??
NCR stockpiles the money it should be paying out now, and the interest it earns pays the settlement, so NCR loses nothing, thats why the last lawsuit didn't affect any change in behavior by management.

Anonymous said...

congratulations to those employees who decided they didn't need representation by thugs with no interest other than lining their own pockets. not voting for the unionnnn doesn't necessarily mean they are happy with conditions at ncr as they are, but could more importantly mean they wanted no part of ibew. they're thinking for themselves and not allowing pretenders to do their talking for them. the majority obviously felt strongly about rejecting representation and were strong enough not to be intimidated.

I don't know if you read Michelles letter on the 125 blog, but she's right, its amazing how the company will go to any expense to do what its deems necessary, then tell us that there not enough money to give raises or pay our bonuses to remain "competitive". I have friends that work for other tech nololgy companies and they are paid better than NCR techs, and more important, they are treated like human beings, not just numbers. If I were a new guy, I would be looking for ANYTHING to get away from here before you are like all us older guys and have nowhere to go. 25 years of NCR experience is not very marketable on the job market, since NCR doesn't do any indusry standard training, you may have the knowledge, but no way to prove it on a resume'. Best of luck to all, I think I am going to quit reading this blog and be glad that my career is winding down, I only have 10 years to go, I hope I can make it.

I hate to say it but this is dead. We sent in the cards over a year ago and have heard nothing. Our lives at NCR have gotten progressively worse, we are now on call 4 weeks straight with only 2 full weeks in between not on call. We ask for a Saturday off and cant get it and are told to switch with someone, but with the on call schedule so grueling nobody wants to pick up an extra day. Horrible hours, but all the OT cut. We are treated like FLT, running first line crap rcpt jams while first line is out replacing parts, that we order no less. We are told, absolutely NO OT but then are given calls 15 minutes from our shift end, and when we call to tell them we are given a hard time.

This has been futile at best. Hopefully the economy gets better soon, so I can get the hell out. But with Obama spending like a drunkin sailer, without any more money to spend, I doubt it will ever get better til he is out. So we gotta put up with it for at least a few more years.

I cant wait to get as far away from NCR as possible. I hate this fucking place. And if you think any of these mousey CEs are gonna step up and vote a Union in you are nuts. Everyone bitches behind the scenes but then I say something in a meeting or to the boss and I am labeled a trouble maker and it looks like I am the only one that has a problem. Screw it, I am out as soon as the economy is better. When nobody will stand together with you to bring complaints to your immidiate boss how do you expect them to stand behind a Union.

I am done. Rant over.

In Arizona we pulled back to go later and NCR rewarded us by changing our schedules to 4-10's. Some may think this is good but what really is going on is a way to save money for NCR on overtime and get it without having to pay for it. It would have been nice to be in a state where you could choose whether you wanted 4-10's like California, but as usual, the company mage the cahnge without any input from the workers. Unbelievable!!!!!

jeremey thacker sucks said...

I wish we had 4 10's here

Heard from an instructor out at training "no raises in 2010 either."

gino said...

Hello to all you no-union voters!! Did you expect anything else with this company. Only the guys with a contract, NY/NJ and Canada will be getting a raise. Oh yes we got one this year also!! How about you guys? I mknow what you got, The big DOUGHTNUT!!!

Anonymous said...

Great story you got here. I'd like to read more concerning this matter.
BTW look at the design I've made myself High class escort

Anonymous said...

A big doughnut is we've been getting for years, in the last few years I have lost 17% and it looks like I will never catch up because even if the company does do better the execs will take care of themselves before they worry about us guys and gals in the trenches. Face it, we work for a bunch of greedy, no good people and as long as they are at the controls, this is going to continue. Maybe if the union was to get voted in, it would send a message, but I'm not sure, and now that California voted no, what difference would it make anyway. I guess all us poor folks are destined for goverment handouts and food stamps for all our years of hard work and trying to be productive citizens since the companies are playing reverse robin hoods, taking from the poor and giving to the rich. I guess thats what redistibution of the wealth means to them.

Anonymous said...

There's other ways to screw NCR. Use your brains.

gino said...

look out everyone. NCR opened up its wallet. They've upped the dinner voucher to 20 frigen bucks. BIG F-ING DEAL!! Now I could order the apple pie with my Happy Meal.. Management really cares.

READ THIS CROCK OF SHIT MANAGEMENT MAILED OUT SEEKING A PAT ON THA BACK!!!

All

I want to give you all some background into what drove this increase in the dinner voucher amount when at the new Peachtree training center.
I had a preview to this policy several weeks before it was announced (Sept-Oct time frame) and expressed my disagreement with the amount of the dinner voucher. Since that time I have been pushing the decision makers to re-evaluate this and what you see below is the end result. I am not telling you this to pat myself on the back, but rather explain what goes on within the company that you don't always see. Myself as well as the rest of the management team work very hard to address our business issues which sometimes involve challenging company policy that we believe need to change. To state the obvious, we are not always successful because of overriding business demands and requirements.
I know there is at times a belief that management doesn't really care about people but only the business needs. I want you to know that decisions are made in an effort to balance the business needs with the people impact. Sometimes the business needs take precedence because it's the business that keeps us all employed.
As I said above, I'm only sharing this with you to give you some insight into what goes on behind the scenes that I think you sould know.

I hope each of you enjoy Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

Hey all you union haters. Now the company is forcing more people on second shift to include 1 weekend day and Avail will now go from Fri thru Thursday. Now when you are on availability, it will span 2 weeks! But this aint happening in the Union Office in NY and Canada..

Anonymous said...

Our boss did the Friday thru Thursday availability crap a few years ago in order to pull the wool over Nancy Daniels, (alias Godzilla) eyes. She or he wanted everyone to never work over 20 hours of overtime in a week so by splitting the availability over two weeks chances of you working more than 20 hours OT Friday thru Sunday where rare and working 20 hours OT Monday thru Thursday where also rare. Smoke & mirrors, SOL.

welcome to the moron pages

Anonymous said...

Well, its official now, no bonuses for the year. Along with no raises that means for the last 3 years the average CE has a loss of about 15%. Of course, this applies to everyone, so Nuti and company will have to "survive" on the paltry salaries they get, plus stock options to exercise when they want. But the price of the stock has tumbled since Nuti came aboard with no recovery in sight, so, hows that change working out for everyone??

Anonymous said...

this company will never recover until the board of directors clean house and get rid of nut job and his minyons then with a real ceo we might have a chance

Anonymous said...

This Board will never do anything, they are yes men for whatever Nuti wants. remember that Nuti was contractually obligated to move to Dayton, when He didn't want to, they took it out of His contract instead of enforcing it. Why?? Because they don't want to hassle with finding another CEO. Of course you know the rest,Nuti opened mulit million dollar offices in NYC and moved the company to Georgia after being in Dayton for 110+ years. I won't miss Dayton, but the ways this company does things sure makes you wonder whats next, and now they don't even take care of the people that work here everyday, keeping the customer as satified as we can under the circumstances that they have created. Low pay, poor benefits, no retirement, no raises, no bonuses, bullys for management = no incentive. I don't even have a college degree, but I sure know that to get a quality workforce you gotta have incentive for the people to excel, this company rewards it good performers with picking up the slack for the poor performers, so eventually the good ones move on and we start all over. But remember, when the economy turns around, I'm sure that Nuti will give everyone a big raise to make up for all we've done in the hard times.. NOT..But the union folks will still get the raises and whatever else that has been put in the CONTRACT, because they have a CONTRACT, just like Nuti and the execs have, anyone getting the drift here??

Anonymous said...

Fresh off Yahoo, NCR is going to aquire DVDPlay kiosks, they can't compensate the people, but they always have more money to buy a company. this ones in California, you know the state that has so much work already they have to fly people in from all over the place to buffer the work and do the installs because they don't have the people to what they already have to do. When is Nuti gonna get that you can't keep adding more stuff to do and not add people to do it. I'm sure Wallace and Cheadle said that the new FLT people that are coming over can handle it. Sheeeesh

Anonymous said...

My manager thinks it's going to be better now that we will be doing all the PM's and Walmart Store visits. The FLT guys turned down the job offer because NCR did not offer them any more money. They would get the pleasure of being On Call, working weekends, Holidays, Ect. for the same low pay. The guys in our area know way more than the new NCR hires who are making about $2.00 an hour more than them. We have even hired guys without an A+ Certification. So now they will hire a new untrained guy instead of paying the FLT guys the NCR starting rate. Makes no sence to me.

Anonymous said...

Nuti made it sound like a big deal that EVERYONE wouldn't get a bonus. But I will bet they bigwigs get their stock options. I haven't had a raise in 6 or 7 years but did get a nice 23% pay cut!! Unfortunately I am in that age group that is too old to start over and too young to retire. But not for long. I just remind everyone to just do their job and don't kill themselves. Do what is "required" and don't give away your time. We have all kinds of money to buy companies but none for the employees...Well one day when there is no one left who cares the customers will go elsewhere and so will Nuti; with his golden parachute most likely.

Your NEVER to old to start over. What you have at NCR will never grow, so there is no reason monetarilly to stay. I left after 28 years at age 52 and have never regretted it. Always look past NCR. Believe me it's alot better on the outside looking in. Stay positive and keep looking. Lot's of company's want older more dependable and knowledgable people than the young people who just don't care. Good luck and Merry Christmas to all.

Anonymous said...

to the above poster--I don't know about you but if you don't work with the company until you are 55 you take yet another pension cut. Even though we cannot accrue any more money in our pension they can cut it more. If I leave the company at 53 and start taking my pension at 62 I will lose another $400 a month--that on top of the $1000 I lost when they froze it..go to fidelity and check it out

SAVE YOURSELVES THE HASSLE AND JOIN SOME SORT OF UNION. YOU WON'T GET RICH BUT YOU WILL BE ALOT BETTER OFF FOR IT.

JUST STOP AND THINK. I HAVE GOTTEN A RAISE EVERY YEAR FOR 23 YEARS EXCEPT FOR 2008 AND THAT IS BECAUSE THE ARBITRATOR WAS DEFINITLY IN THE COMPANIES POCKET. BUT WE WONT FALL FOR THAT AGAIN. WE CONTINUE TO GET RAISES BECAUSE OF MY UNION. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GUYS GOT RAISE IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS? I BET IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO!

Anonymous said...

25 bucks an hour. rebanded from 32 bucks an hour.

Anonymous said...

This companies leadership will say anything to get what they want, which is less for the workers and more for themselves. There are always going to be enough people like the poster above that thinks that 14.00 an hour is enough and doesn't want to be rewarded for anything they contribute because they probably don't contribute much. But they have a vote like everyone else and the managers signal them people out to get enough no votes against the people that have been here more than 2 monthes and are tired of watching the future being taken away from them by managers that won't even be here to see it happen. Nuti will be gone as soon as he can find a compny that wants to be cut apart like the ones he has lead before, and there are still companies out there that are just a greedy as NCR that think what Nuti and company are doing is right. And of course the government has no regulations on these practices, so, go ahead and make the middle income person not spend any money because he or she is in constant fear of being the next in line for a layoff or another cut in pay that makes the power of the dollar even weaker.

From White Collar to Blue Collar said...

Yes when I was hired by NCR in 1981 we all wore a suite or sport coat, dress shirt and tie, a "White Collar Job". By time the early 90's rolled around AT&T owned us and changed our name from Field Engineer to a lower ranking Customer Engineer. We also were told to dress "business casual" and ties were no longer required. This was the beginning of the end, then 2 years ago Cheadle came along and eliminated the CE3 position. Now that we have been cut back to "Blue Collar Jobs" it's time for a Union. Union workers have 33% better pay & benifits, you should know this by now. If we don't act soon the IBEW will dump us and we'll be under NCR's thumb forever. Send in your card & vote YES for the IBEW!

Anonymous said...

If you believe that NCR is paying you less than what your work product is worth, you need a union. If you think it's unfair to cut someone's pay after 30 years of good and solid service to NCR, you need a union. If you think it's wrong to fire someone so a manager can hire a neighbor's kid, you need a union.

Anonymous said...

And not to mention that they froze our retirement after all those years of faithful service, and reduced the match on the 401k, and increased our cost for benefits, etc. etc etc. Now after 27+ years they have broken every promise that they made to me when I accepted the job in 1982, and I am supposed to be happy about that. If we had a contract we would have at LEAST had a vote on these things, instead Nuti and company just say tough crap, take it or leave it, its all about making room for more high paid, non-producing managers and the only way to get more money to pays all the nuti butt kissers is to take away from the workers

Anonymous said...

you wouldn't have a vote on anything except to agree to the negotiated contract or go on strike. you won't have any input (you'll have perceived input at your meetings when you pony up your dues). by the way, you didn't accept the job, you asked for it. and things were better in 1967 when I started, but they were everywhere and things are lousy everywhere today. it's a fact of life and something you have no control over unless you move on to a different career. quit your whining and do the work you are paid to do (no more unless you get compensated, and no less). that is what you agreed to when you hired on (BTW: you agreed to changes in your job description at that time).

Anonymous said...

It sucks everywhere, but at least we could aggravate management with a Union.

Just for the record I was ASKed to apply for this job because back in the 80s elctronics training wasn't that common, in fact until the government got involved, we were an asset to a company and they were willing to pay for that knowledge. And when you accept a job, what they tell you to expect shouldn't be changed after you are to old to get out. And didn't all workers in the world apply (ask) for the jobs they have?? So why not just cut all federal empoyees retirement and make them work until they die?? Maybe because they were PROMISED a retirement when they took the job, and some employers have the moral obligation to keep thier word. Now, if they want to implemnet changes to the future employees, thats fine, as long as its up front, but when a guy/gal puts in 25+ years thinking he/she is set as far as retirement and they keep changing it, its wrong no matter how you cut it. Also, if you remember, when Nuti announced the freezing of the retirement, He softened the blow by saying that the larger 401K match would make up for it in most cases. Then, soon after, He announced that the 401K match was going down to a level less than it was before. I will continue to do what I am PAID to do, because I know whats right, but I'm not giving one minute to this place in the future and thats the monster that Nuti has created. Have a nice day

mr ncr said...

I do less now than before, and it's the right thing to do. I was a CE4, now I'm a CE2, so I do has as much, and do it halfass, because they give me a halfass paycheck! Nuti can go to hell!

When a himself is in a economic intractable and has a raffle of impute liabilities to honorarium, then the most signal accountability payment warning is to work alleviation options so that faithfulness practical joker bills can be reduced in a right manner. At foremost this option seems too passable to be unelaborated, but the details is that this is the barely workable choice to hand as bankruptcy is the demise suited for any future credits.

The Bankruptcy Puzzle

Bankruptcy is a negative power which a actually uses when not prosperous payment the clearance options. When the account holders do not realize their commendation likely bills reduced and then retaliate the primary sum to the bank, they are sacrificing their savings. Ergo in this way, they pleasure face inadequacy of money. The selection process of the aid systematization is in the form of a hierarchy. The buyer looks at the provided services online. All the organizations which are dealing in village services father their own party websites. An distinguished liable resolution par‘nesis is that the selected entourage should be absolutely legal.

Scam firms are scattered all over the internet and they fritter away experienced techniques to go along the fellow's attention. An serene approach to shun illegitimate companies is to steer clear of direct communicate with with a firm. Lead reach presents the companies with a right to retell their own prices. They can exemplify a higher figure to you and make amazingly money. Easement processes are aimed at reducing trustworthiness wag bills and not increasing pecuniary burden. In come what may of a direct correspond with with the encumbrance reduction public limited company, you wish end up paying more also in behalf of the exact same flatten out of services. In addition to that, the chances of scam also increase.

The best approach is to decline toe a relief network. The companies which are working with a master network are registered and legit next to all means. All the firms working with a thorough network have a validate issued on the government. An prominent responsibility agreement information is to appoint companies through a skilful relief network.

In terms of charges, redress network decide the rates in behalf of each service. These charges are very represented and the customers can easy as pie pay them. These networks provender uncage recommendation to the account holders so that they can go out a more understanding. The critical portion of this notable liable settlement admonition is to use setting options in the earliest days span.

Getting at liberty of debt by virtue of a debt rapprochement treat is currently totally popular but you prerequisite to positive where to position the foremost performing programs in fiat to place the vanquish deals. To be on a par with responsible setting companies it would be about to on a liberal debt relief network which desire site the kindest performing companies in your zone seeing that free.

THE ASSHOLE IS GONE said...

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Daniels as the Region Vice President for Americas Customer Services. Nancy succeeds Chris Cheadle, who is resigning from NCR effective February 1st for personal reasons. Nancy will assume her new responsibilities immediately, working with Chris Cheadle through the end of the month to ensure a smooth transition.

Nancy is already well-known to many in the Americas CS organization. She joined NCR in 2003 as the Area General Manager for the U.S. Northeast. Four years later, Nancy’s success in that role led to her appointment as the Services Executive & Area General Manager for Japan Customer Services, where she guided that business through a successful turnaround. In March 2008, I asked Nancy to apply her results-driven management style to our service parts business. During the past twenty-two months, she and the Service Parts team have made significant improvements in both parts availability and cost-efficiency. I am confident that Nancy will leverage her learnings from all three roles to effectively lead the Americas CS team.

Exciting information about what’s next for our Global Service Parts organization will be released very shortly.

Please join me in congratulating Nancy. I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to Chris Cheadle for his dedicated service to NCR – first as the Region VP for Asia Pacific CS, and for the last three years, as the Region VP for Americas CS. I wish Chris all the best in his future endeavors.

Godzilla and or Charlie Daniles replacing Chris Cheatem said...

Now that Chris Cheatem has taken the money and ran he is being replaced by Nancy Daniels, also known as
Godzilla or Charlie Daniels as she was once a he. Nancy had Lester Ellis's position several years ago, then she
began managing Peachtree parts. She couldn't do that very well so now she's replacing Chris Cheadle.

Anonymous said...

Glad to see that cheadle has finally thrown in the towel, but I would have liked to see someone that has some ce experience replace him, not another yes "person" to further erode the morale around here. Also, about the lawsuit, it follows a disaster thats still in the making with the latest blockbuster rollout. Over half of these things don't work after they are dropped off at the location, and more than 25% are in areas where verizon has no coverage, causeing an incredible amount of no communication calls, and no one seems to care. Hows that for cost savings? I guess there will be no raises again this year and its only begginng. Not to mention that most of the people taking calls on these things have no training, sound familiar? This is what happens when salepeople run the show, we get run into the ground and they get praised for rolling out more equipment. When a ce loses an arm or sorse, working on these things, the company will sweep it under the rug and pay out another settlement to shut it up.

Anonymous said...

The CE's were to mean to him, they hurt his feelings.

nuti is gettin fired said...

the rumor is Nuti is getting fired, Cheadle had to leave

Anonymous said...

The big question, who will replace nuti, another axe man with an agenda that only concerns himself, or a ceo that wants the company to survive long term? I'm not sure theres any execs out there that give a dam about the company they represent anymore, only to line their pockets on the backs of the employees and facilities for a few years and then move on. And, remember, we still have no union contracts, so the new guy can come in and slice and dice more than nuti did and we have no recourse. Something to think about.

I think most everyone is glad to see Cheadle go away. Hes done nothing but further the agenda of management against the workers since He came around. However, I think Nancy is a Nuti product, meaning more of the same underhanded practices to make more managers positions and push the workers to do more with less. You are right, lots of money has been spent to improve parts, but, due to mishandling, theres still numerous problems with parts. But thats the way this company does things, if a senior manager 'THINKS' something will work there will be millions spent to try to make it work, even if it was a bad idea to start with. Control tower was a bad idea from the start, but since Hurd and Gagliardi(both gone now) thought it was a good idea, millions have been spent trying to make it work. The way to "make" it work is to HIRE ENOUGH PEOPLE, sheeeesh, it doesn't take a MBA to figure it out, they want to have shifts to cover all the hours, that leaves 1 or 2 people working most of the time in a large city, and theres 3 day old calls that no one has ever responded to, but, we ordered a part to stop the clock, and Nuti calls that ethical. Someone at the senior level better take off the blinders and "smell the coffee" or its all going to come tumbling down soon, you can only steal for so long before you get caught.

Websites' traffic can be dramatically improved through the usage of a variety of SEO (search engine optimization) techniques. With the aid of a SEO consultant the site's basic structure, keyword density, meta-tags and basic keyword analysis will be fine tuned to provide higher search engine rankings. Our company can develop organic search engine optimization tactics and an extensive link building campaign that is tailored to the client's specific needs. By editing the code of the website its relevance to specific keywords will rise and barriers to the indexing activities of search engines will crumble. The goal is to optimize the client's website so it naturally incurs more relevance with the target audience. Better results can be shown than pay-per-click advertising alone would provide with the aid of our services. Improving navigation of the site will also help the client get an edge on their competitors.

Michelle Teeter
