how in the world can grown men have the expectations you have voiced. the unionnnnnn isn't going to give you have the things you're hoping for. do you honestly think that a unionnnnnn can force this or any company to do whatever the employees think should be done? you have an unrealistic picture of how much you are worth. the service rep is so low on the ladder that he can't even see the first rung, much less reach it. NCR can let you all go tomorrow, replace you with a contracted service and not skip a beat or upset a single customer. don't tell me how good you are and how complex the equipment is. I know how you handle the troubleshooting. as you walk through the customer's door you're already on the phone with the helpdesk so they can tell you where to start and what to look for. look around you. the guys with the phone plugged into their ears are the ones who can't troubleshoot. the tech rep is no longer alive. you guys are the last gasp of a service dept, the module swappers. NCR is probably hoping you get the union so they can replicate the Dayton factory layoffs. get those cards in, boys.

You sir are an idiot. Yes we can be replaced but without skipping a beat.... I think not. If it were that easy I'm sure they would have done it long ago.
Ce's may be on the bottom rung however we are the support for the whole building. If you remove that strong support the building may not fall but the people in the top floors will for sure be looking for an elevator thinking it just might topple.

Once again, you are way off. Yesterday I ran a shitload of calls and not once did I have to call any help desk. (ONLY ONE PART)
I agree that we all can be replaced. Even your buddy Nuti can be. But do you think you are immune here? Are one of those that will be always safe? I say you are the one that thinks that he is untouchable. Why? If you are a TM, who will you need to "Manage" when we are all gone?
I said in my last that NCR needs to upgrade its hiring standards. They should be looking for those who can run on their own and be able to retain lessons learned. If you see all of us as just mod swappers, then you just proved my point. Training and experience is what makes a good NCR CE.

On the Cheatus CD numb nuttz is complaining about NFO parts being sent to rework. I guess we are to stupid to know a good part from a bad part. Seems more likely that it is the idiots they have working in the rework centers. From all the garbage parts I've been getting latley, it seems like the rework centers can't fix crap and just send it back to the field to make their quota. But once again it has to be the CE's that are causing the problem. So I guess we should start RTS'ing everything, maybe that will make him happy.

I was one of the Canadian tech's that was severenced off March 2007.Being out of NCR made me realize how much better it is working for someone who does treat employee's like people. Today I want to thank NCR for paying me to leave. Life is GREAT. I have a new career that pays $90,000 / benifits/ matched 401k/ 5 weeks vacation (I can take consecutive)4 paid sick days per month/ and my company vehicle is an Escalade. I install and maintain CT Scan units. I LOVE MY JOB!!. My advice to all my fellow employee's is to get out now. There is really nothing worth while (looking back) . I heard NCR has a business analyst onboard now to even put more screws to you guys. Might be too late for a Union, my understanding is alot is going down by the beguinning of the 3rd fiscal quarter. Good Luck to one and all.

Being a resident CE/Generalist I LOVE THE WORK BUT HATE THE JOB WITH NCR. I have over 30 years but at age 54 I'm not ready to retire and finding a new job in a rural area is impossible. So GO UNION!!

I never lie to the customers. I tell them the truth, that we don't have enough people on the street. That we take on more work when understaffed and unprepaired. My ethics training at NCR has made me this way. I tell them when the part I came with is OBF because of poor reworking. I tell then I only have a hard to understand, non technical guy in India as my source of support. I also tell them when I am very tired at the end of another 70 hour week. You may not be seeing me at my most productive because I am physically and emotionally drained. Go Union.

NCR management needs to be restructured. This company is top heavy. Nuti is greatly overpaid for his role in NCR. This isn't the 80's anymore. The shareholders should demand that the top-heavy leaders resign, as they can outsource their jobs to a cheaper, more cost efficient platform. I will run this company for 1/2 of what NCR pays Nuti. Furthermore, I will sell the World Wide Headquaarters, as we will all work from our homes (virtual). I will find CheatUS employment at a cafeteria washing dishes.

This company sucks. Most of the equipment we doesn't have our name brand on it. Most of it is near the end of it's lifecycle. Typical bottom feeder company.Other atm vendors have caught up with NCR and are offering atms that will dispense anything. Our crap can't handle a folded bill. 1970's technology in 2008. By now India has probably made a new atm that will out perform ours.I am looking for a new career outside of NCR. I don't see how NCR will retain it's employee's. NCR's lifecycle is approaching fast, get out while you still can with what little is in your pension account, before the company ties it up in a legal battle of recievership.

unfortunately i don't think the union is evere going to a vote. when ny strikes ncr will have enough people to come in and handle thing and break the union. they are prepared to go in there for months. without any other part of the country striking also ncr has enough people to cover that area. they don't care that the other areas are short-handed and can't cover things now. they just want to break the union so they can push more cuts down the road. they are sending people to calif. and chicago because they can't keep people there paying them crap wages and worse working conditions.
what used to be a good company to work for has just about hit rock bottom. customers suffer because we have to put off calls to save overtime..how long before we start losing contracts? just long enough for the big whigs to get their bonus money and us to get shit..

Yes, definately. About 11 years ago, I was in Edmonton for a course on the new fault/fix codes, alot of people were unhappy. I mentioned we should attempt to start a union. I almost got fired on the spot. The GM is Canada called me a few days later, and told me to keep quiet or be fired. Yes we needed a union then, but no one would talk to me even if I suggested a union. No one had the balls . I tried to get supporters, only 2 people supported the idea.Being in touch with the ones who were let go due to outsourcing, they now wish they would have done something sooner. Too little, too late.

Is B.C. in Canada still Union?

Yes, they are union. Of all of Canada, BC was the area not outsourced. The union helped secure their employment.

I find it pathetic that the non union supporters are such pussies.They all bitch and bitch about NCR, yet they don't want change.A good example is Canada. The unionized shop kept their jobs, the non unionized didn't. It appears these pussies fear NCR for some unknown reason. A union would improve pay, benefits etc etc. Unforetunately, if a union gets certified, the non supporting pussies will be identified.

This union attempt in NCR is being watched closely by IBM, UNYSIS, and other major service company's. I am friends with these tech's, and their waiting to see what happens within NCR.

Hey!!! Any Canadians that read this and know me, send me an email. Lost touch with alot of the guys I used to work with. Just to let everyone know a little about myself, I worked for NCR for 29 years, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, as a resident tech. March 16/07 I lost my job because NCR outsourced my job to a company called AM/PM Services Ltd. I didn't apply for employment with them because there is no way I could make a living on $13.80/hr. Right now I'm not employed, decided to take a year off or so to reset back to normal , as it came a quite a shock to me NCR would do this to a loyal employee, plus I have other issues my family is going through right now. I miss the work but not the politics. I don't miss the SLA game. I'm enjoying my free time now more than ever. My family says leaving NCR made me a better person overall, I'm not stressed out from the politics and workload, and I can actuially sit still. Anyone want to email me, feel free to. I spoke to an RTSS the other day and he mentioned that he is being told to prepare for up to 90 days in New York and switching hotels all the time.

I hope the union wins this battle. I know I would be all for it in the central area. I worked 350 hours of overtime last year and I am growing increasingly frustrated at the company line "we'll pay you for it." We are supposed to get 8 hours a week administrative time for training, email etc. but then we're also told by will mooney that we can't do the training during regular work hours because SLA's might be missed. We'll pay you overtime for it. I really hate that line. no amount of money can pay for missed baseball games, recitals or other family events.

As a team last year, my area worked over 3500 hours of overtime. Normal thinking would say that since one full time worker is 2080 hours a year, another worker would be justified. Not NCR, we'll just overwork and burn out our current employees and tell them "We'll pay you for it"

Non-Union guys don't walk off your jobs until we have a union certified and we vote strike. You will have no protection. Do your best to have the guys send in cards instead.

If NYC strikes and we don't have a union certified yet we can support them by calling in sick and just plain slowing down.

I think with the amount of pro-union solidarity out there we can fuck this company up pretty good nationwide if NYC is forced to strike. Maybe even worldwide I’ve read blog postings from all over the globe supporting our union effort.

Don’t loose faith people this union is going to happen it’s just taking longer than expected. Pray, pray, pray to God to help us because NCR and the rest of corporate America have waged war on labor. And none of these politicians have lifted a finger to stop it.

If the company locks us out, the rest of you can help us by having a job action. Slow down and calling out sick. The company will learn pretty quick. And will can get back to work. If we get a contract that we could live with then you can get the same by signing in the union. Please support out effort by any means nessecery. How many of you guys are willing to give up your summers? Be away from your spouses and children for 90 days. Please..Do not give in to the company. Help us get a contract and yours will soon follow.

It seems a majority of people think everything is just peachy cause it's their first real job and they make 12 bucks an hour. Hey they get a car and think all is well. It took us two years and two votes for FLT to go Teamsters in Philadelphia. Then after our first year of a three year contract NCR transferred us over to NCR and out of the Union. It may take a little longer than five months and be a harder fight than some of you guys understand. I still want to go IBEW even after losing our fight three times. I want to beat these bastards before I retire. Sign those cards. If you think things are Ok, you can still sign. It only means you want to have a vote. You will be bombarded with anti-union propaganda from NCR and hear the benefits from the IBEW. Then you can make a choice. I was not totally for the Union until I sat in about three meetings with the NCR Union busting road show. After the lies and ommissions told in these meetings I was ready to vote YES. They even lied to us about the contract in New York. They told us we already had a better deal than the New York Ce's. The best story about how they would take care of us was about a CE who died at the Holiday Inn during training. They acctually were proud of the fact that they shipped his dead body home to his wife. That struck me as the least they could have done. Did they do anything for his wife and kids? NOT. Well if you don't join the Union at least when you drop dead from overwork the company will get your body home.

NCR does need an organized labour template to guarantte a proper living wage. I often wonder if the major shareholders know or care about how people are being treated within the corporation. The gov't should have some laws in place to control how corporations operate. It's obvious that major shareholders only care about finacial gains, rather than the human side of things. This trend will lead to the self-destruction of corportions. The leaders of the corporations are to blame as well. When a corporation starts cutting internal costs like NCR has, it's just a matter of time the cuts will affect their bottom line. Key players are only motivated by return in investment. NCR is one of the many corporations doing this to survive . It's a snowball effect. The future really isn't that bright. After Nuti "guts" this corp. and fills his pockets with his unhuman reward, he will move on to another corp. and do the same thing. Proof is what happened at HP. The corporate machine will come to a hault eventually. An organized labor movement is the only protection and option. You really should consider this and send in your cards. In my opinion, it will save the corp. from self-destruction.

While I feel the anger most of us on here do, I must say, your anger in misdirected. I think it is safe to say that most on this site have already sent in our cards. To resort to name calling doesnt help. If you want to call people names, call the CEs' who dont know about this site, or who choose to do nothing. I agree our upper management are only here to line their own pockets, they are not here for the long term, as are most of us. As soon as things start to go south, they will abandon NCR, take their money and run, leaving another mess for the ce's to try to repair. I see another compnay is buying 300 atms. Will we now hire 2 more $14, untrained, unqualified flts to repair them? Probably not. It would cut into Nutty's and Cheat-les bonus's. Chase is coming down hard on the company, yet they are too stupid to realize we dont have enough qualified people to service them. You need to wake up. Look at what is happening right now and has happened in the last couple of years. NCR is taking us down. We are headed down the path of 12-14 dollars an hour with little to no benefits for everyone EXCEPT THE TOP DOGS!!!!!

Nuti's pay and bonuses should be voted on by the shareholders. He is way too pricey. I have SLA reports from Canada that show outsourcing was a bad choice. ATM's down for up to 5 days in some areas. Guess bargain basement companys doing the outsourcing wasn't the answer after all. The outcourcing company's service their equipment they have contracts with, then if they have time, do the NCR calls. Excellent choice NCR. Thank Kevin Marshman for this. Numbers look bad in Canada, real bad.

What will happen can be easily predicated, Union will be everywhere eventually or no new Union formed-NJ&NY has been unionized almost 30 years and it will remain unionized forever.
In the no union areas younger CE will leave after 18 mon bridge pay expires and NCR will hire people from street and pay them very low.
You may be right that some CE will stay because it is not easy to change their careers when they are 50+ years old. BUT you think those who stay will perform the same level as they used to?? You will be too stupid to realize that there are too many things they can do to MAKE EVEN.
As a manager you maybe think NCR will get rid of those who can't meet NCR's demand,But it will not be that easy. First there are too many ways to make good metrics but actually no real job done. Second,new hired CE will only stay a short time then move on for they will know there is no future to stay with NCR.It will make NCR heavily depends on those experienced "OLD" CE who choose to stay.
There will be tons of calls postponed and delayed- it has already been happening erveywhere as we speaking now, Then you will beg thsoe CE to do OT to meet customers' demands-it is exactly what is going on now.
Well, the only difference after paycut for those choose to stay is just working a little bit longer but less harder than before and the lost income will not be that great for it can be made up from OT, plus no rushness any more. There will be no way to help those new hired for anything. no repair any more ,only replacment. NCR can put GPS on Vehicles and will only find CE is always staying at customers's site but LONGER than before.... There are tons of thing those experienced old CE can do. NCR will find out later that THE COST OF ITS NEW WAY IS HIGHER THAN OLD WAY.AND MANY MANY CUSTOMERS ARE LOST. We don't need crystal ball to see it is the future for it is happening now. I think those old CE will be the ones who laugh at the end not you.
By the way another great mistake you made here is you UNDERESTIAMTE WHAT THE TEAMSTER CAN DO. NCR is not dealing with an ordinary UNION it is TEAMSTER. You will be stunned when you see what will gonna happen in NJ&NY soon.

If NCR has to lay me off because NCR is in the brink of bankrupt, I will leave without any bad feeling at all. If there is a cross board of pay cut-from top manager to low CE1, I will accept it without any complain too. But the way now we are treated is just not right and fair. Do you know when Diebold lost their ATM to NCR. NCR hired many Diebold Tech. I will not mind working to Diebold if NCR screws up Chase Bank and loose business/ATM to Diebold. How can NCR expects us to be loyal to it when we are being treat like a piece of garbage.
It seems you are very very worry about loosing the business. You just a selfish person. You only care about your well being and do not have any compassion to other people's suffering. You just want us to work as slave and you can keep what you are getting from NCR.

Tech's are smart, we are lead by Nuti. Nuti and Chase are our idols, and their example tells us to be greedy. NCR cares about sales, not the after sales service. So, we don't care about service either, we change all our calls to CPC (charge) type calls, and don't have to worry about missed SLA's. Who cares, just charge it. It's never billed anyways. Just keep in mind, any shop that goes union, you managers are automatically out of a job. Your replaced......period. Play nice, the sandbox is big enough for all of us except Nuti and Chase

I think it is interesting that suddenly, after an absence of several years, Chris Wallace decides to reimplement the employee survey. I guess in light of the union activity, she wants the company to at least give the appearance that they give a chit what we think. We knew it was coming. NCR willnow want to try to hear the problems, and try to work them out, as long as no union is involved. I hope they dont think we will be that stupid again. Tell them exactly what you think in your survey. Be sure to let them know you have no faith or trust in their leadership. They are only out to screw the CE's as much as possible, while lining their own pockets at our expense. To hell with every one of them, I'll never trust a word they ever say again.

Looks like NCR has set us up to fail again. Because of a piss-poor decision to sign a piss-poor contract by a piss-poor Cheat-le, Super Value is going to kill our bonus's. He lied to Supervalue, knowing we dont have the logistics, or the manpower or the support for this contract. Now to save his piss-poor azz, other areas have to send CE's to Chicago to run calls. So these other areas are now failing to make their numbers, running short handed, so come bonus time, this will be thrown in our face when we get another 1.5% of 5%. His plan to pay people nothing and work them to death is another grand failure. They cant get people to work in Chicago because of the treatment. There will be more of this around the country, believe me. Another example of NCR's greed, they saw dollar signs with Supervalue, but now are in trouble with Starbucks, Sterling, and many other customers, because we can't service their accounts due to lack of manpower. Good Job, Cheat-le, you pompous ass. You will kill this company eventually, then be on your merry way to destroy more lives at another company.

I think your manager and rtss will have a wonderful time as trouists before real thing happens. There will be arbitration if the NY/NJ and NCR do not have a new contract in the end of June. Then the Union will start a motion for members' vote on strike or not , and then.....
One of the many ways teamsters can do is still working without contract for a while. For how long? They can wait those 100 rtss and 100 other managers sit for nothing in motels-not hotels, you know NCR is cheap-for WEEKs. Let NCR spend agreat deal of money for lodgings and meals.then when most of this "troop" leave for whatever reasons. then Teamsters will strike.In meanwhile Teamster may send guys to surround Chase'e main office in Downtown,and all major TV/Media to let whole American even whole world know how mean the NCR treats its workers......and so on.
There are near 200 union members in NJ/NY. NCR needs more than 300 CE to run the business in NJ/NY, if there is a strike.
There is still a long way to get to that point.I wish NCR is so stupid taht They send guys to NJ/NY now.

Renting tech's (outsourcing) is cheaper by the end of a fiscal year because of tax advantages. It's sorta like writting-off the cost of leasing a car for example. The outsourcing company is given a flat rate to run each call. Outsourcing company's usually have their own client base to take care of, so they have people in place already. For example, NCR Canada outsourced to AMPM Services Ltd; they have a client base of Bank of Montreal (Diebold) Credit Unions, and Scotia Bank. This gives them extra revenue to operate on, as they already have leased company vehicles, and are paying their employees benifits etc. They run the FLM $ SLM calls. However, they do not perform PM's as the pay base per call isn't enough to have a tech tied up on an atm too long for the rate . In the area I used to service, they now are having alot of chronic issues with pick mods, presenters etc. on atms as PM's are never done. Some areas have atm's hard down for days.

My advice to all you in the event NCR does outsource you: Do not apply for work with that company. NCR will suggest you apply to work for them. They do not know NCR atms, or the walmart systems. Anyone who is hired by them will be used to train and mentor their people, once they a sufficiently trained, they will eliminate you and put another person from within their company in your place.

I'm kind of embarrassed and pissed about the way some of the people on this blog are attacking each other. We have common problems, and we need a common atitude. Every location has their slackers, and so does every company. Not every company treats their employees as poorly as NCR has in the past so many years. That is our common goal, to either fight them together and win, or fight them together and hurt them for how they hurt us every day. SO, please use your energies, and work the common goal. Support our union co-workers in their battle, and if you are not willing to stand fast and do a work stoppage (if they do), then the least we can do is run a few calls less per day, and let the call queues grow, and the customers bitch. That's easy to do, without getting caught. Traffic gets heavier, machines have harder problems to fix. One or two more calls left over multiplied by how many? It'll get noticed.
As for all of us getting together and joining in the cause, very many of us have not gotten the cards to send in, even though we begged for them. Hopefully enough of cards DID get in, so votes will eventually be taken.

Why 300 CE are needed if NY/NJ in strike??
How can any CE from other area functions as a local CE? Does he know how to get to the customers sites? How to take subway and bus?
Where and when to park in order to avoid his car being towered or stolen? Will the customers give no delay to allow a stranger to fix their machines??? .... The list can be very long. It is just a common sense no exaggeratation. NCR can sacrify secondary customers and only serve the primary ones, then they don't need 300 CE. But if they want to fully cover all the business in NJ/NY as it is now, they need send 300 for first one month.
Just one interesting factor about the population of Brooklyn.The population of the half of all 50 States of U.S.is less than Brookly's. No kidding.

I got a call from peach a few weeks back, and they wanted a part back.
"Critical Need it now type thing. The only one in the Country with this part.." Yddda ydda ydddA
So I check the part number said on voice mail and its a damn C-clamp.
I have the only 3 in the whole country. A fuckin C-clamp.
Way to go NCR.

And another 70 hour week comes to an end. My TM says to hang in there relief is on the way. But all the new hires are being trained for a trip to NY. We have a few Ce's from Virginia working up here. They told me they were forced to come up here or they had no job. Strange days are upon us and will certainly get stranger.

Is NCR retaining their newer employees, or is there a high turn over rate? I was looking at the careers in NCR and there is alot of openings for CEll's. Did a lot quit or what?

There is a massive turnover! 90% don't last 90 days. The working conditions are brutal, pay is low, and the managers are lying liars! Don't work for NCR!

If you are in the Chicago area, they are adding people to service SuperValu by robbing other areas of their ce's to help with the tremendous backlog of calls. This, of course, places other areas in a bad spot, since they will now be short handed to cover Chicago. Just one more of NCR's poorly thought-out, planned and executed fiascos. NO, Ncr is just not hiring the quality employees right now. It comes down to under manned areas losing one person putting stress on other CEs then the manager just hires the first person they find. Some of the new people they hired seem to be just above Fry Guy and McDonalds. That being said the fry guy is pretty smart for quitting so quick. Maybe we should ponder on our $17/hr jobs...

I was a manager that was let go and I was told that if I wanted to be a CE I had o come back a CE2. So I did in a different office. I could not work with the guys that I was told to fuck. Now my region is about to go to a vote and its only a matter of time.

It's all horse dung. NCR wants everyone on the working end of the screwdriver to be low class low paid workers. They (upper management) think killing morale and demoralizing current workers will get NCR ahead. They are correct. It will work in a short term bottom line gain. (say long enough for a certain CEO and his buds to get their monster bonus as they shuffle to the next company)
Where they are misguided is where it will leave us in the long run. Maybe they could have one of the croanies explain to us the actually direction they want the company to go and not the song and dance BS they are spewing now.
It is a downward spiral that will more than likely go out of control, but they will have already moved on just like me......
It will get better as I am sure the new survey will show them the lack of moral and how much we all think of the company direction.

I hope NYC is successful but I have a feeling they plan to lock you right out of a jobs. I wish you luck and hope you win!!!!!!! I wish the rest of the dumbass Ce's in the company weren't so stupid and could see the forest for the trees. It would surely be a feather in your caps if we could have pulled it together.

Where is the movement anyway? Is there any info out there? That is part of the problem. No one knows anything therefore no one seems to care.
