The union will be a waste of time... no union is a waste of time. If you read NCR financials the only people that got raises worth mentioning were upper management, they are shifting money and the only way they will break even is to cut jobs. NCR didn't make the moneythey said they broke even with expensives. New GPS systems give me a break. NCR has been poorly managed for years and now all ces are paying. I mean come on using different gas cards to save 2 cents a gallon. That may seem trivial, but we are screwed union or not.
You can say what you like about me. No matter which side you are on grab your ass. The next step they will be forced to do is separate the ces from ncr and make them FLT and make flt a nonprofit co that they own so they can show a lose on taxes.
The Union will only prevent this for a couple of years, but at least we will have time to figure out what to do.

Hello all, There has been a Class Action Lawsuit filed against NCR for missed wages and so forth dealing with lunches, admin time and so on. The lawsuit has started in California. I have a copy of it and sent it to Steve Smith to maybe post it on the blog for all to review. It's to large to paste in the blog.

I really take offense at some of the comments I've read here. CE3's that got cut 3 years ago weren't really doing the job? Who are you to make a blanket comment like that-as if the 'big city CE3's' were some thing special? I've attended classes @ the old CTEC and Sugar Camp with some 'big city CE's' and believe me, they weren't as special as you'd lead us to believe.

Also, the threats made to the RTSS personnel-what kind of crap is that? That's really taking the high road and showing the level of people that NCR has now, union organizer or not.

I am an RTSS in the midwest and a 28 year employee of NCR WCS. I'm a rural person and do work on everything under the sun, and have been called to larger cities on several occasions in the past to support the local CE's when their CE3's couldn't handle the situation. I received a 24.7% pay cut in November of 2004, regardless of the fact that I was a mentor, team lead, champion on several pieces of equipment. I've lost over $40,000.00 in in the last three years and will never get that back, and never got a bridge payment help.
Was I happy? NO.
Am I old enough to retire? NO.
Did I still need to pay bills then? YES.
DO I STILL need to pay bills now? YES.

That is why I took the RTSS position, since the reality of the situation at the time pointed to not ever being able to be a CE3 again. (It still points that way now; it will be very hard to re-instate the CE3 position, even with Union support.)

Did I like the fact that I wouldn't get any O.T. ever again? NO.
Do I like the idea of being used as a puppet and have to possibly go to New York in the event of a strike? NO.
Do I like the idea that I've lost my right to affiliate with a collective bargaining unit? NO.

But I still like what I do, and have a lot of respect for my peers.

I had been working since October of 2005 to get someone from any Union interested in getting involved with my work group, and realized pretty quickly that it needed to be a national endeavor, that a small local group wouldn't succeed. But since January of this year, I've not been able to keep up with the efforts in our area. But what I see consistently referred to in this blog are question about who to contact, which points to a lack of a comprehensive contact list for IBEW reps in each of the NCR sub-areas.

If this effort is to succeed, that contact information and the ability of those who need it to get it is paramount. Instead of telling people to use the numbers listed in the middle of the blog itself (which means you have to look at each individual posting), put the numbers on the HOME PAGE, right up front and save everyone time and effort.

Wish you could be in on the union vote. Maybe the RTSS position will be considered a union job after the union gets voted in. The Group Leader job was union way back when.

That's a no-brainer!!! The CE3's cut 3 years ago wern't doing CE3 work! They ran the numbers, and found out YOU were skating! The CE3's that kept the CE3 posistion were doing the higher level work, and were told they would not have their position eliminated! Nutjob lied!! My manager wants me to keep doing the same work, no-way, I'm now just a keyboard swapper, that doesn't give a shit about NCR.

It now costs more to live in the country due to less competition by retailers and the higher cost of transportation, distribution, and fuel! so everything from our groceries,gasoline, and even getting the sticks together to build a house cost more due to less competitiion... Hey we need to stop this fighting and work together to get the Union voted in. we have all been screwed by NCR in one way or another. The guys in the rural areas had their pay cut and non of them deserved it. They work on everything and are held to the same standards as the Guys in the big city's and usually have a much greater distance to drive.

The guys in the city's have been dumped on also. Remember Permond? I remember when most if not all of the NCR retail team went to Permond and all took drastic pay cuts or had no job. Did any of those guys that are now back working for NCR get a big pay raise for coming back, I don't think so.

Last but not least the CE3'3. 20 bucks an hour and do the same great job you have always done for the company for the last 30 years. What other company could you work at for 30 years and only make 6 dollars an hour more then a new hire only doing first line ATM work. This is a slap in the face to all of us. this is why we all need to work at getting the Union voted in.

I have a story about a typical evening inside the NCR club lounge at the Dryden hotel in Dayton, OH. I go in, and there is no one there. Looking around me, I see a big screen hi def television set, a high def movie player, a pool table, two dart boards, a fuzball table, and an air hockey table but not only that, there are desk spaces and chairs and tables for people to sit. Most of the time this great room is friggin empty. When a CE comes in, most of the time it is to gripe that they are only getting paid 16 dollars an hour (boo hoo). Then I will see an old, shrivelled up CE who has been here forever talking about how he can't go anywhere else and he is stuck with NCR or "jailed" as I heard the term. More than likely his kids have grown up and left the nest and he is sitting there in front of me complaining about his pay because he doesn't know that when things get tight you don't spend all your friggin money on things that you don't need including alcohol the occasional manag'et troise in Vegas with some pretty young thing because his wife can't (or won't) put out anymore. Most of the guys that are out here complaining have a nice car in the garage that they are making hefty payments on along with a big fat mortgage on a larger than needed house or a boat in the driveway that they don't use. You will alway complain about not having money IF YOUR FRIGGIN SPENDING IT ALL THE DAMN TIME YOU MORONS!!!!!! Hardly anyone in school mentions the fact that they arent paying for the hotel room they are in, or the food they are eating (as horrible as it might taste at that particular hotel) is free, or than they have an American Express card they can use for meals if they don't like the meals at the hotel or the fact that they are so damn lucky they arent using their own personal vehicles to run service calls. Lets get back to this club lounge. This is only for NCR employees. That means no one else can use the stupid room. The thing that pisses me off is that you guys are bitching about everything under the sun, in the very room provided to you by your company with all the amenities of a modern day bachelor pad but you are all bent out of shape because NCR acts just like every other corporation in modern day society. Pick up a magazine. Pick up a news paper. Pick your damn dick up off the floor if it helps you to see the big DUH sitting right in frong of you. THIS IS NORMAL!!!!! Nothing you say will change it so do me a favor. Use the stupid club room and shut the hell up or quit your job and go work for McDonalds or if you are old and shrivelled up go work for Donnies porn video shop in some backwoods podunk town to put some thrill back into your life or at the least, something else attached to all men. To all you senior ce's,

Take your experience of everything you are so good at repairing like itran, cisco, lexmark, genicom, oce, IBM and NCR pos systems and go to another company. Where they look at it and say so you can repair PC's and printers. That is well qualified to make 10/hr. The only place you could even imagine getting a job with those skills is a competing company of NCRs. Corporate America has changed since 1995. If you look at the expected time spent at one job it is 5 years. In other words companies only expect to have an employee for 5 years on average. Over that you start effecting their budget.
Is the pay differnet in different parts of the country? Yes, I found that out 4 years ago when I was a new ce and realized someone was excited they got a raise to 15/hr and they had already been with NCR for 3 years, I was making 2 more dollars then he was and I just got hired. I did research on my pay compaired to other pc repir techs in the area and I was making above the average. Now with the union possibilty I looked again and damned if the average of what I looked at 4 years ago didn't go down. Unfortunatly, we are all 2-8 weeks of training away from being replaced.

To the new guys that are perusing this blog...I'll keep it short. I haven't been at this job very long, And I like my pay, my benefits, my hours, my workload. I hate the idea of unionizing and standing up for better working conditions when I have no complaints about the conditions I currently work under. I'm not greedy and I don't feel entitled or like I am owed this position.
This is exactly why I signed my card, and asked for more to give out.
I don't want to lose what I have, and in the past few years, I've seen not only NCR guys get shafted, but Diebold, IBM, IT departments of entire companies; NCR weathered the cutbacks the best, but in the end,all were cut back. My rtss is an rtss because he couldn't stomach/afford another pay cut. I don't wanna be in his position thirty years from now, or even five years from now. But the only way to guarantee that is to sign that card and send it in.
Speaking of cards, if you're out on a site one day and open up a receipt printer or scanner pcb box and there's a union card in it, you best sign it, or give it to someone to sign - that's why I sent it to ya!

What an idiot. You are the kind of employee our pondscum leadership team likes. CE's could care less about that lounge. The company throws you a cheap bone, and you think its wonderful. A big screen TV and a fuzball table, and you wont mind losing 25% of your pay, or your benefits, or your pension. Just like the NCR shirts. They act like theyve done you a big favor, then cut your pay. Those shirts ended up costing the CE's around $2000 each. Get a grip on reality, chump.

Used to be a CEO made about 25-30 times more than us Grunt Workers, now they make more than 200 times what we do. It's not fair, screw them, it's time to orgainize. If you want to sit back and kiss corporate ass's go ahead, stupid wimpy employee. Here in NYC/NJ we have been with the Teamsters for 32 years, still and will have decent paying jobs. I make $1200.00/week as contract negoiations are going weel. What do you make??

I hope everyone has had a chance to listen to the latest Driving Service Excellence CD. I just love to be told what to do and not do by CheatUS. He was complaining about CE's talking to much in front of customers and how we shouldn't do that. This kind of stuff never oust to happen when this company treated their employees right . They just don't get it, what is wrong with management these days? Is it the schools that they all go to? Where do they learn that if you treat your employees like crap they will exceed for you? It just makes me want to get back at them anyway I can. A few years ago I would have done anything for NCR. I went out of my way to bring in revenue. I went out of my way to keep the customers happy. This was my company but now it is just my job. They just don't understand that you get what you give. Now everyone get your CD and get your quarterly talking down to.

That only happens if you let it The 8 holiday hours are yours and if you don't say anything even a union won't help you. The Union won't hold your hand. They will ask "did you go to hr and ask where your pay is?" If you say no well that is your fault.
So if you work 40 hours in a week with a holiday and only get paid for 40, you need to contact payroll and hr.
A Holiday is a full day off, with no on call. You must agree to the flex day in lou of a Holiday.
