Someone said, that Bill Nuti has a summer home in the Hamptons on Long Island, NY. When will it stop? I am already struggling and having financial difficulties. Why didn't NCR management take a paycut? Who exactly is looking out for us?

I've been a Ce for over 20 years and have seen many changes some that I liked and others that I dodn't like. It goes wothout saying this is one change i don't like. However, I've been around long enough to see how this job has changed and it's much different. It's not unlike what's happned with all technologies which have become simpler and more of a commodity. I know none of you want to read this but I'm being honest and you all know it. Let's be honest about this and not pretend the company is crule and mean becasue the CEO makes more than we do and lives in the Hamptons. Come on guys that is childish. You're blaming the company for everything possible. NCR like every big corporation has it's faults but I still lovethis place and work with many great people.including many many managers and guys pretty high up in the ranks. Their descent guys who work hard every day just like us trying to do the right thing for the company and our customers. I will never replace their leadership with that of a union. Those of you who are looking at a union as a white knight are kidding yourselves. I understand many of you don't want to hear this because you're so jacked up by all the union promises. I respect your opinion and hope you respect mine. My only request is you step back and be realistic.

Anonymous said...

Please stop trying to pretend that what has happened to us nothing and its going to get better. You are turning your cheek to your co-workers. I have been in the union for the last 25 years and thank god we had a union in place when all this crap hit the fan. I still have ce3 status, my pay did not get cut and I am still have my right to live life to its fullest while the rest of my coworkers are suffering and wondering what the near future will bring them! So you can take that rightous speech back to your loving managers and great company and continue to tell yourself that everything is hunkie doorie.. Please vote the union in and stop the pain!!!

Anonymous said...

to all you union critics. Please go away and avoid this blog. you are not wanted here anymore. and when the union is voted in, dont ask for support. you dont deserve it.

Anonymous said...

20 year CE, guess you didn't get your pay cut? Are you still a CE?

Anonymous said...

I am Canadain, my job was outsourced to another company. I was a CE3, resident tech that did everything from FLM, SLM, Installs, etc. Was on call every 2nd weekend, lost alot of stat holidays. Worked an average of 475 to 600 hours overtime per year. Almost was terminated 12 years ago when I mentioned union at a meeting. A residency should have 3 people, not one. I already was saving them money by being availiable to do the extras. I'm not complaining. The additional income was a bonus. A year has passed since my job was outsourced, looking back , I was brainwashed into thinking NCR would take care of me after the 30 years of service..... how wrong I was. I blame myself for being so blind and loyal. I don't see any support here from other former Canadian fellow co-workers. BC is unionized, they have approx 2 years left of their contract which states their jobs cannot be outsourced within this period. After these 2 years are expired, probably see some de-unionizing attempts by NCR Canada. So a word of advice for you United States guys, add this to your bargaining . And for me, it's time to move on with my life. I think you guys are doing the right thing. This is one industry that needs more of a voice from it's employee's.Something fair for the company and employee at the same time. Good luck , live long and prosper.

Cheat-le’s “Windshield Companion”

I just listened to this crap from Chris Cheat-le and almost threw-up!

Statement: Profit is up 7% but Revenues are Flat!
Meaning: We can’t “Grow the Business” so we again had to rape the CE3s!

Statement: MOT – The CE returned to the store on his day off (and didn’t charge for that).
Meaning: Come to work on your Day Off (for FREE).

Statement: MOT - The New Jersey CE came in from Vacation to fix a Diebold ATM.
Meaning: The Teamsters again “Saved the DAY”

“Windshield Companion” CDs make GREAT Frisbees!

Anonymous said...

Canadain friend,
Thanks for stating the fact so many CE's in states don't see. They think the company will take care of them. Those days are gone. Look what happen to the workers in Canada. The only one not screwed, were the UNION workers. Wake up!!!!! " MAINE"

Hershall said...

I just want to let all of the CE's in the geat North West know that if you dont get in on this movement soon you will be left out.
The protection that a Union will give you will far out weigh your fears. I have contacted many of you via cell messages, and the responce has been pitiful. I am a CE in the North West and I just cant understand what you guys are so afraid of. I have been with this company for over 7 years and I have seen the changes, and to tell you the truth I'm very concerned. NCR changes the rules almost on a daily basis, Its really becomming a pain to keep up. With a union contract NCR could not change the rules as eaisly with out consulting with you and me. Do yourself a favor, get a union card and mail it back, then at the vote , you can say yea or nay. The choice is yours. Personally I am going to vote for the union, given the chance. but if you guys dont respond I may never get that chance, nor will the other s that have already responded. Thanks

Anonymous said...

If the IBEW fails to unionize NCR, I will quit, no way I will stay and work for Nutjob nuti, and Cheat'em cheadle anymore!

Anonymous said...

Correct me if I am wrong, in the U.S , 60% needed , Canada, 40%. Appears a union would be easier to form in Canada. So few Canadians posting, looks unlikely Canada will jump onboard.

The union hasn't promised me anything. I am pretty sure that is the same as everyone out here. Having a union may not be the save all, however having a contract and being able to stop them from changing benefits, pay, vacation, work hours, shift times, etc.... etc... etc... when ever they feel the need to reband or restructure..... THAT IS THE ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE MAY BE ABLE TO SAVE WHAT WE HAVE LEFT WITH THE UNION AND A CONTRACT.
If you don't think so it's your right. Sign the card and give everyone the option to vote and lets see where the chips fall.
If you think things are great and a pay cut or vacation cut won't come to you ; stick around a few more years and see where you are. You will be where the CE3's of a few months and a few years ago were and you will be next on the block. You just need a few more years under your belt.
Sign the cards and lets try to HELP OURSELVES!!!

There is a reason management doesn't want a union shop. It will tie their hands and they won't be able to fiddle with the workers the way they can now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SIGN THE CARDS AND LETS VOTE!!!!

That is going to happen! Make no mistake, this is their next move if we don't act now. Look what happen in Canada. I'm voting for the UNION, but if doesn't happen, I will move on. No sweat off my back. I will find another job. I'm good at what I do.
But for the people who think 13 to 15 dollars hour is good pay, think again. They think you are over payed. For the loyal CE'S who got a pay cut and think it not going to happen again, just email CHRIS C. and ask him if your pay is safe at its frozen level. RTSS work force to be cut by 30 % by years end.
I'm not trying to spread rumors, but it's just a guess on what their next move will be. Maybe they will give us a 20% pay raise.
The only thing I know is with UNION, things are set in stone.

This company is spending money like it was nothing to them, look at how much it cost to produce that CD od Cheat-all and send to all of the ce's. There goes your next bonus or raise. A simple email would of sufficed. I just dont understand it all anymore, we have to get approval to run calls on overtime, put off calls all weekend long if the customer is not on the HOT list etc... This is insane.... I just dont know how much more of this crap I am going to take. I have already looked into getting another job.

GUESS WHAT: The NJ Teamster GOT PAID!

UNION LETTER - Jan. 11, 2008

"Mr. Smith indicates a "CE stated that he eats his lunch on the run to his next call and works until 5:30 or 5:45 without getting paid to make the customer happy"…no one – 'no one' -- should be skipping their one hour lunch without getting paid – ever!!!" NCR management absolutely concurs with this. You do not need a union to tell you this, nor do you need a union to get paid for overtime. This topic is covered in the CE Handbook . . . . .

HEY AL, Better tell Cheat-all about THIS!

Legal Matter:

Doesn't the Fair Labor Standards Act make it illegal for Cheat-all to encourage Free Labor on your Day Off?

http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/flsa/

and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in

Our company, NCR, recently sent a CD out for all Customer/Field Engineers to listen to. It was presented to us by Chris Cheadle, Vice Presedent of America's Customer Services. One of the topics was about a Customer Engineer in New Jersey who went out to finish a service call at a customer's site and never charged NCR for his time. Doesn't the Fair Labor Standards Act make it illegal to encourage Free Labor on your Day Off?

Don't ever skip your lunch or eat on the run to your next call. By doing so you are cutting your own wages from 20.00 an hour to 17.77 an hour.

RIGHT NOW THE MANAGEMENT BOYS ARE WINNING THE WAR THEY HAVE ONE OR TWO INSTIGATORS LOGGING INTO THE BLOG AND DISRUPTING THE TRUE GOAL THAT WE SHOULD HAVE AT THIS POINT!!
WE SHOULD BE CALLING FRIENDS AND WORK ASSOCIATES AND BEING POSITIVE WORKING TOWARD OUR GOAL OF BEING A CONTRACTED WORKFORCE THAT HAS A CONTRACT AND A VISION FOR THE FUTURE!!
EVERYONE THAT LOGS ON AND STARTS SAYING F___ YOU MANAGEMENT HAS LOST SIGHT OF THE TRUE GOAL IGNORE THOSE POSTINGS AND START CALLING EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND GET THEM FIRED UP. WE NEED THE UNION SO THAT OUR JOBS AND PAY WILL BE PROTECTED BY A CONTRACT! WE WILL THEN NO LONGER BE "AT WILL EMPLOYEES" THAT CAN BE TERMINATED OR TOLD YOU WANT A JOB?? You may as well hang it up. It's obvious you can't get enough people to sign cards, much less make an effort send it in. You're a bunch of lazy misfits. By the way, when the union contract in Canada expires what do you think is going to happen? Negotiations? Not on your life. The remainder of Canada service will be outsourced and the union members looking for work. This too is your future. You'd better grab those $10 an hour jobs now while they're still available, but you won't. You only post your threats about leaving, you don't actually have the guts to do what you say. By the way, this blog is for everyone who has a stake in this decision about a union.

Well Guys and Gals,
I think the media is picking up on our side of the story. I'm sure everyone got this email

Dear Fellow Employees,

From time-to-time, news media outlets will directly contact an NCR employee or contractor, requesting comments or an interview about the company’s operations, an industry trend or a current issue.

As covered in our annual Code of Conduct training, NCR policy (CMP 1104) requires that any news media inquiry related to NCR’s business must be referred immediately to a company media relations manager. If you need help locating an NCR media relations manager, click here.

If contacted by any journalist or media representative, please explain that you are not in a position to discuss the issue with them and will pass their contact information to an NCR media relations manager. The NCR media relations manager will follow up with the journalist/media representative and manage the company’s response, which may include arranging an interview, as appropriate.

Even a casual conversation with a journalist is subject to being published in a magazine, newspaper, etc. or posted on a Web site. News media are under no obligation to review their stories with anyone in advance of publication or posting. And unless the item in question contains blatant errors, it can be very difficult, if not impossible, to have it changed.

If you are asked to be interviewed as a private citizen or a member of a professional or non-profit group, please use good judgment in such situations and be respectful of each other, our customers and partners. If you are identified as an NCR employee, your comments could be interpreted as coming from you as a representative of the company. If you are uncertain about such an interview, please feel free to check first with media relations.

Regards,

Even tho they did not mention us the CE"s I do think NCR doesn't want anyone to find out what greedy bastards they really are

NCR currently pays about $1million in corporate state tax between the Texas franchise tax and the Michigan Single Business tax. In order to achieve a more tax efficient structure and segregate pieces of its business, all operations in both Texas and Michigan will be placed in new entities -- TX LLC and MI LLC. These two LLCs (Limited Liability Corporations) must have employees and the plan is to move employees who reside in these two states from NCR into the new LLCs. In Michigan, there will be five (5) employees from Teradata moved into the Michigan LLC--the rest of the Michigan employees will remaining in NCR and be leased to the MI LLC. In Texas, there will be 266 employees from CFO, FSD, RSD, SMD, TD, and WCS transferred to the the Texas LLC (see attached list).

There will be no negative tax implications to the employees being transferred into these two entities as a result of this move since it is occurring at the beginning of the fiscal year (effective December 22, 2003). The benefit and savings plans the employees currently participate in will continue without change; the credited service dates for employees will not be affected; pension eligibility will not be affected.

We plan to notify the affected employees of the company change -- when they view their pay statement on-line and/or print out the statement, they will notice a change in the employer name and employer ID number on the advice statements. The employee communication is in draft form and is currently under review by senior tax management. The intent of the communication is to let the employees know about the move to the LLC and to reassure them their service with NCR will not be affected in any way, and that they will not need to make any changes to their benefit or savings plans. The intent is to have the communication ready to release on Monday morning since the employees will be able to view their pay statements on-line beginning on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contant myself or Brenda Michalek.

Thanks.

Another card from Texas is signed and in the mail. Come on guys we need everyone to contact Kitty at Kitty_Prouse@ibew.org or call her at 409-882-4686. She answers her e-mail promptly and will get a card out to you ASAP. Let everyone know.

Texas and other area's, whenever possible try and provide the organizer with an ADDRESS LIST for your region. That's what was done here in New England so all CE's received a card, now we need to have them send them in!! Come on guys & gals, send them in!!

Hello all, There has been a class action lawsuit files against NCR for missed wages and so forth....dealing with lunches and so on.....The lawsuit has started in California. I have a copy of it and sent it to Steve Smith to maybe post it on the blog for all to review. It's to large to paste in the blog. Here is some info if you would like to look it up on the internet somehow, it is public record. I have a hard copy sent to me via e-mail.

The lawyers having suit against NCR are as follows: Robert W Thompson and Charles S Russell. The telephone number for them is 714-730-5700. The office address is 111 Fashion Lane, Tustin California 92780.

Hope this info helps.

Interesting to see that for 80+ years NYC union guys still think that a baseball bat is the way to be a good union member.

Nice to see CEO thinks cutting wages, and benifits is a good moral maker.

Anonymous said...

If New York has had a UNION for 80 plus years, they are smart. More than half the RTSS will not go to New York, just the ass kissing ones. NCR will spend more on police protection for these scum balls, than the it would cost to just pay the CE's.
Good Luck New York

TECH ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NCR is dumping the analog GPS systems that they had US install for the newest ALL DIGITAL GPS system from what I have been told the 750 area will be the first to test drive this new system.

Anonymous said...

Now isn't that special!
No raises and Cutting CE's pay.

For what?? So we can pay for new GPS units for them to see our every move.

Of course, Control tower made such great use of the last ones right?

If we were one united work force, we could just refuse to have them installed.
In a perfect world....Maybe one day...

Anonymous said...

wow...New GPS..that's interesting. Do the ce's still have the in their vehicles? We here in NEW YORK had them pulled. Maybe its time to drive our own vehicles.

Anonymous said...

We do not use weapons here in NY. We are lovers not fighters. We will out smart all you dumb ass RTSS's with our minds.

And I would publicly thank the rest of the CE's that support us here in NY. We are behind the cause 100%. All the rest of you including union busters, OD's, FOD's, TM's and non interested parties deserve everything you get in the years to come.

Here's something you folks might enjoy.

The Plan

In the beginning, there was The Plan.
And then came the Assumptions.
And the Assumptions were without form,
And the Plan was without substance.
And darkness was upon the face of the Workers.
And they spoke among themselves saying, "It's a crock of shit, and it stinks."

And the Workers went unto their Territory Managers and said,
"This is a pail of crap, and we cannot live with the smell."

And the TM’s went unto their Operations Directors saying,
"It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the OD’s went unto their Area Directors saying,
"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength."

And the Area Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another,
"It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong."

And the Area Directors went to the Vice Presidents saying unto them,
"It promotes growth, and it is very powerful."

And the Vice Presidents went to the CEO saying unto him,
"This new plan will actively promote growth and vigor of the company
with very powerful effects."

And the CEO looked upon the Plan and said that it was good,

And the Plan became Policy. And the Policy was put into practice.

And this is how Shit Happens.

The only "plan" (conspiracy) that NCR had was to obtain a 7% profit by "screwing" their" CEs.

We all know that this is unsustainable. Look for selling of stock options (Chris Wallace)
and rapid exiting from NCR by these "forces of EVIL" (Leadership? Team)

we are getting pressure now that if we don't join we will be terminated when ncr goes union. If any of you communists knew what a nazi was you would not use it so lightly. I was leaning heavily to the union but now that the scare tactics are starting... not from ncr which I did expect and still do, I am growing less atracted to the union. So far no one has said what the union is going to try and do. Can anyone on this blog be resonable instead of just complaining about ncr? I have worked 4 other companies (2 major companies)and unfortuanatly ncr has been the most fair with medical and retirement combined. Times are changing and ncr CEs missed it a long time ago when they stopped CE3 position years ago this guy just finished it off.

Anonymous said...

To the guy above who is talking about scare tactics by the union...

I am not sure what you are talking about...I think you are a little paranod..You are mistaking the power of suggestion and an over zelist group of guys for something worse. Step back and take a deep breathe. Look at what the union has done for the CEs in NY/NJ. That's all we want. Do not get side tracked by some guys that might be thinking out loud. Sometimes your mind their mouths get the better of you..The union will and should be good for us...STAY THE COURSE. Thanks

Anonymous said...

power of suggestion hmmm "if you are a real american join the union and don't be a nazi"... I just quoted one text message... where was the suggestion? "don't be left without a job when we go union" again suggestion? maybe kill a muslim to be an american will be next... only a suggestion for a homosidal moron. Violence and threats are not a civalized way of influencing people. Again I don't mind if we unionize, but no one has said what will we gain. ce3 is gone, has been for years in non union areas they just finally cut ce3 pay. What direction are we going? we are union hear so roar... now what?
Yes, I realize idiots join unions too, but since the messages are amonimous, I can only assume since the term nazi is so freely used on the blog it is from the union

OK Guys, We are trying to organize a Union, WE DO NOT use scare tactics by threats, I have sent out text messages asking for the support of our fellow co-workers and telling them not to beleive NCR promise's. Yes NCR will make promises and lie to you. Just remember YOU are just a number in a numbers driven company. We want to make NCR a respected company again. Dont you think our customers have noticed how much NCR has gone down ever since the sent rework to over seas companies or hoe about the help desk (INDIA)
There are a whole lot of problems that need to be fixed. But we have to start here by voting for the union. I'm sorry if I offended anyone but the truth is the truth.

SOMEONE ASKED....please just tell me something besides ce3 is gone and the union will demand they restucture again
please...

OK I WILL TELL YOU WHAT THE TEAMSTERs HAVE DOnE FOR ME...
They have for the last 20+ years have gotten me a raise even when the company has cut youer pay. They have gotten me an increase in avail pay while all non union offices have stayed the same for years. I have 4 hours admin time scheduled each week so that I can do things like payroll, expenses, timesheets, email, and surplus on company time and not my time. I get down time after I work any 12hours in a 24hours day. That 8 hrs off with pay. Do not have to work both Sat and Sun. one or the other. They must give me 2 weeks notice if there is a shift change and its shift work must be rotated. Still have personal use of company vehicles. And this is only a small percentage of the benefits. There is a small insurance policy given to me becacuse of membership. Also an additional accidental death and dismemberment policy. How about representation if needed. Job security. The list goes on. Please excuse all the typos.

To anonymous poster who posted...

"oh yeah and what has ncr promised? someone said ncr is making promises so we won't unionize I haven't heard crap from anyone except a "overzelous" person that ..anyway"

I can understand your feelings with all the information and frustration being blogged. I will answer some of your questions.

The union will attempt to keep you from becoming me. I was forced out 5 years ago from a job I loved and a company I put my heart and soul into. For my efforts I was rewarded with being reduced to the equivalent of a CE1 and the pay cut to go with it. Luckily I left and have found a better life. The union would not have allowed this to occur.
Promises.. NCR promised me (and the installation team) raises, bonuses, and advancement potential IF we "brought in the numbers" for NCR. The team did so by shifting our time to meet the installs, split time (4 hours in the morning and 4 in the evening), and to many concessions to mention. When the time came for our (the teams) payout we were told "we were never promised the above just suggested it might occur". 12 members of the team all heard the same thing. 12 members were all duped. Why, because we believed. WRONG, we should have had them put it in writing.

More? How about the promise of bonus money but changing the rules at the last minute to lower the payout? This occurred (approx) 7 years ago.

More? How about the promise of "do your job well and you will be rewarded". I (and many others) was rewarded for our efforts with a boot to the butt.

More? How about the repeated “this was a one time thing (cuts), now we have the best of the best of the best left and we can move forward. Then, more cuts. (9 years ago).

Do you see a pattern? How many times do you have to get your face slapped before you put up your arms to protect yourself?

What will the union do? Simple, as a union you will be part of a group and stand as one. The old adage of “together we stand, divided we fall” is very true in this instance. The union does not run you, just the opposite, YOU run the union. YOU are the union. There will always be people who get over zealous about their beliefs and this is understandable. Some of the posting people have been put down for so many years they are fed up and vocal/passionate about their views. This does not make them monsters or thugs just passionate about their views. I wish the union was at NCR to help me when I was being demoted for doing my job.

You have no say at this time when NCR will single you out for doing your job....then demote you for your loyalty. Can't happen.....just ask Oncewas (me).

Have a great day….

Class action may get you some but union will keep what we have.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT A TEAMSTER MIGHT SAY:::

CIRCUIT CITY IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS AND HERE IS THE REASON WHY...Tell me if this sounds familiar...

All analysts who cover the company blame its current woes on Schoonover's decision last March to fire 3,400 of Circuit City's most experienced employees. At the time the company said those workers were making too much money and could be replaced with cheaper workers. Analysts say the move led to a devastating loss of morale and a decline in customer service.

I have also read the HOME DEPOT is practicing the same MICRO MANAGEMENT and will soon suffer the same plight..NCR will soon follow suit. First the cut in pay.. 2nd NCR was hoping for a massive exidose.. But It has not happened. They were looking to fill all those spots with entry level low paying jobs...

WE CAN PREVENT THIS CARNAGE. WE MUST VOTE IN THE UNION!!! PLEASE..WE MUST NOT FAIL.. IF YOU HAVE NOT SENT IN YOUR CARDS YET, PLEASE DO SO AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I AM JUST A CE JUST LIKE THE REST OF YOU WHO HAPPENES TO LOVE WHAT I DO. I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE. WE MUST DO WHAT WE CAN TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT AROUND HERE..

ALL YOU CEs WHO WERE PROMOTED TO RTSS, YOU MUST CONSIDER THE CONSEQUENSES IF YOU COME TO NYC IF THERE IS A STRIKE. IF THE COMPANY SUCCEEDS IN PUSHING THE UNION OUT AND PREVENTS THE REST OF THE NATION FROM GOING UNION, THE COMPANY WILL SOON PUT THE RTSS' IN THE STREET NEXT. THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL. WE ARE ALL MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT NCR THINKS OF US. REMEMBER THAT THE UNION HAS NOT CREATE THIS MONSTER. NCR HAS. THEY CONTINUE TO MAKE MONEY OFF OUR BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS. THE FEET IN THE STREET IS A MAJOR PART OF WHY CUSTOMERS COME TO NCR. LETS NOT LET THEM DESTROY THAT!! PLEASE STAY THE COURSE AND THANK YOU.

THE REPRESENTATION ELECTION PROCESS
Section 7 (U.S. Code Title 29, Chapter 7, § 157):
"Employees shall have the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor
organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to
engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining ..."
HOW DO WE START?
The first thing we do is to talk with each other. In the end, it will be us, the employees, who
will negotiate with the company for our union contract. After the contract is signed, it will
again be up to us to make sure that it is enforced. The effectiveness of any union hinges
upon the involvement of a majority of the work force.
Volunteer to serve on a voluntary organizing committee. This committee will be a crosssection
of the entire bargaining unit. The committee's job will be to educate and get
feedback from fellow workers, and when the workers are ready, get them to sign
authorization cards. The committee will probably hold group meetings with fellow
employees to make sure everyone understands and is educated as to their rights.
WE NEED TO KNOW
Educate yourself:
· What are our rights are under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)?
· What is the election process,
· How does a union work?
· What's in a union contract?
. . . and any other questions that we together might have.
2
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE COMPANY?
􀂃 Captive Audiences Meetings
􀂃 Intimidation
􀂃 Innuendos
􀂃 UNTRUTHS...
Just to mention a few!
THE ELECTION PROCESS
Section 9 of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) requires that 30% of the employees
sign cards authorizing the union to represent them before the union can ask for recognition
from the company.
1. When a majority of cards (70% of the bargaining unit) have been secured,
the IBEW will ask the company to recognize our union. (Even though the law
only requires 30%, it is wise not to ask for recognition with less then 70%.
We don't want to waste our time if we don't think we can be successful.)
2. If the company should refuse such recognition, the cards may then be taken
to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) where the union files a petition
for an election.
3. The Board then sets a date when we vote -- by secret ballot -- for the union.
4. We vote -- in secret -- "Yes" for union representation, "No" for no union
representation.
5. A simple majority wins.
6. The Board then certifies the union -- and soon thereafter contract
negotiations begin with management for higher wages, job security and --
improved working conditions.
Last, after the NLRB certifies the union, we set down with the employer to negotiate a union
contract. Under the NLRA, the company must negotiate with the union in good faith for
wages, benefits, and working conditions!

"The Industrial Union grasps the principle:

Q. Ever wonder WHY Politicians seek their "support" from both Corporate & Labor sources?

A. They are both powerful opposing forces that shape our future freedoms! (Corporations are winning)

With only 8% of the "private sector" still organized, the Labor Movement and Dinosaurs have more in common.

HELP!

Are you worth what you started at to the company today? Very easy to check. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has a great tool. It is an inflation calculator. Enter what you started at and compare it to today's salary. Which is more? It works in reverse too. No smoke and mirrors. It reflects the buying power of your salary adjusted for inflation. Does not include any changes in benefits, only your salary. Have fun:

Hey MR COMPANY MAN
Just wait and see what happens when the Union is voted in. Then we will see who the joke is!! Dont even think about looking for help when your boss bends you over and ask you to pass the VASOLINE. Call me when it happens. I'll bring me BIG FOAM #1 FINGER AND CHEER HIM ON. You Frigen BACK STABBER! You deserve everything you get..

As far as the company not worrying, You cant be further from the truth. The reality is the are very scared. No company that rapes their crew like NCR has wants a union. Then guys like Bill Nuti will have to stop. Dont you think that NCR now realizes what they did was open the flood gates to there down fall. That got away with it once because we let them. They tried again but now it will bite them in the ass. Like you, AN ASS. Thought I'd throw that in. They started and we will finish. And dig tjis. I am not going down without a fight. I will fight dirty if needed, Bill is no different then the rest of these CEOs that come in and screw the company and then look for that golden parachute. Well Ill cut the parachute strings before he jump.

I think it is a shame it has come to this. After 28 years with the company, I now have to worry about making my mortgage payment. I have never seen a workforce more demoralized. Even Chris Wallaces's blog site is getting very little attention, because nobody even cares, especially the CE's. Our wonderful leadership team has proven one thing: you cant trust a single word that comes out of their mouths. Cheatles cd was thrown in the garbage upon arrival, knowing it would be a bunch of crap, spun to make himself look good, while stabbing the Ce's in the back. I see we have made some major customer wins.. Thats great, now we get to run even more calls for less money. Their logic escapes me. I wonder how they will explain to their new customers WHY no one is fixing their equipment when the workers vote union and walk out. When I tell my customers about the ce pay cuts, and the management's raises (141%???), they are amazed at the greed of NCR. They understand how much time and effort we put in to keep their equipment running, and also understand the low moral. Just keep sending those union carsds out, and write to your local newspapers and radio stations about what this company has done, and is doing to its loyal employees. We are looking into a class action age discrimination lawsuit in our state. I would advise others to do the same. Vote Union, and call every CE you know to do the same.

Let grab NCR nutsack..I want this Union up and running. Now is the perfect time. We can come to the table with NY/NY this summer.

Guess what I heard from an internal associate that supports NCR infastructure. Bill Nuti was home in NY and his laptop needed service. He decided to fly in a ce from Dayton rather than letting a Union ce work on his laptop. He is such a non-player. He will get his balls handed to him when the Union is voted in..F@#k Him!!! That hippocrit. I wonder when he gets his car serviced or needs an electriction in his South Hampton beach house, does he ask if their nin the union first? Dick Head

Just NCR FYI,
If you are planning to join, make sure no one knows, unlike me, I tried to let my coworkers join. They all refused, I still haven't joined. One of the team members was nice enough to let the mgr know, so i've got a 60 day review on my performance time. some crap, with no proof of any customer complains or work completed. Oh, well, looks like i'll be looking for another job soon.
sry, putting anonymous don't want to loose the 60 days and be terminated tomorrow.

Sounds like a manager trying to scare everyone. Everyone here is joining the union, I can't believe it's not like that everywhere.

IF YOU REALLY FEEL THAT YOU ARE BEING TARGETED BY THE COMPANY, THAN YOU HAVE A LAWSUIT. IF YOU HAVE A GOOD SERVICE RECORD, MEANING MORE THAN THE REQUESTED CLOSED CALL(4.2 CALLS PER DAY), YOUR SURPLUS IS GOOD SHAPE, AND YOUR LOCA LOOKS GOOD, WELL THEN YOU NEED TO CONTACT A LAWYER. YOURE BEING TARGETED FOR ORGINIZING. ITS YOU CIVIL RIGHT FOR REPRESENTATION. START COLLECTING EVIDENCE AND CALL A LAWYER.

Only an IDIOT tells their customers of internal turmoil. All you'll accomplish is to show your customer that you cannot be trusted. Then when the union vote fails and that customer finds someone else to service their equipment you'll be on the street with your tin cup. Doesn't it bother you to be stupid? Didn't anyone ever explain to you about how you never take your problems to your customers? Even though we all hated "charm school" didn't you pay attention at least a little? Hello all, There has been a Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit filed against NCR for missed wages and so forth dealing with lunches, admin time, NCRU Training and so on. The lawsuit has started in California. I have a copy of it and sent it to Steve Smith to maybe post it on the blog for all to review. It's too large too paste in the blog.

Call the Lawyer representing this case, Matt Dameron at 816-714-7137 for more information.

Anonymous said...

Please give the lawsuit a rest. Lets get the union together then move towards regaining lost time etc...
It is more important to get the union movement in the picture. Once we are organized then deal with class action issues. If you sue and win maybe you will get a small check after years of waiting.
If we don't get the union turmoil will run wild even more than it is now and the job won't be worth squat!!!
I realize people feel cheated for the time lost but think in the long term not just in the here and now. That is one reason things are the way they are right now. The ivory tower bean counters think of right now not down the road.
Get your card sign it and lets move this forward!!

A bote bot the lawsuit
1. if the class has been certified Ncr has to release employee records so they can be noified. Worse case is the lawyer if he had half a mind woulg hit them with a supenoa to get the info.
There are also otherthingsthatcan be done through courts in regards to getting the info.

2. Thecase may not even go through the meeting stage and also 26f rule meetings

3. Even if this does happen it goes to trial thelawyers get bulk of $ due to there fees.

4 this case is also going to be a long drawn matter a lot of facetsand take upwards of 2.5 to complete.

5 the company also has the right under the law to appeal to court of appeals

6.I beleive we need to concentrate on our core issue and information here Union.
this is something we can control now and we don't have to worry bout any damm lawyer making a mis step
WE control THIS, We have A chance To have A Voice

"Only an IDIOT tells their customers of internal ...."

Its pretty easy to see who the company buttsuckers are. Our customers NEED to know, that their experienced, loyal and highly trained CE's are being treated like trash by NCR. I dont work in a huge area, but I do know a great many of my customers personally. They know me and trust me to keep their equipment running, in spite of NCR constant roadblocks. They need to know about the cheap workforce they may soon be getting, with its poorly trained, poorly compensated, and poorly motivated workers. I know they are not happy about it. I am sure it will leave most customers with not quite the warm and fuzzy they are used to. It makes me wonder if they company saw this firestorm coming. Looks like just one more of NCR's poorly conceived, badly planned and horribly implemented plans to screw the CE's again. I hope the board of directors know of all of this, because once the media picks up on it, (and they are being contacted) there may be a few red faces at NCR. So before you start calling people idiots, look at yourself, If you ever trust NCR leadership to do the right thing by their employees, YOU are the idiot. If you EVER again believe one word that comes out of the mouth of our leadership team, you are beyond an idiot. Vote union, or look for something else, because NCR doesnt want you here.

If you company spys think that this blog details everything that is going on in this Union Movement, then you truly are the Stupid ones. Also some of the posts supposedly from Ce's with the spelling and grammar errors are quite entertaining. Keep up the good work Mr. Manager.

CLASS ACTIONS ARE SWEET!

Cablevision has agreed to pay $400,000 in back wages . . . .
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. must pay $78.47 million in damages . . . .
IBM has agreed to settle the case for a total of US$65 million . . . .
IBM Settles Pension Lawsuit, plaintiffs to receive benefit of $300 million . . . .

BUT UNIONS ARE THE NEAT!

Unions organize the whole workforce so that they can act in unison (solidarity)
to accomplish workers' goals of Legal Action and Political Action AND Class Action!

International Unions have Administrative, Legal, and Media Departments
that can do all the work for you (it's called DUES ACTION).

Like Frank Sinatra sang in his classic tune "Love & Marriage"

. . . . "you can't have one without the OTHER"

I really struggle to understand the mind of a person who would
contemplate "Class Action" and condemn "Union Action" ?????

GET CRACKIN', TIME IS A WAISTIN'

"OOPS There Goes a Billion Kilo-watts Dam!"

Still no word on here detailing what the union has promised us. I'm not about paying someone dues to maintain the status quo. Nothing on here so far but trash talk from angry CEs.

Anonymous said...

Just to point out a fact to the idiots that are saying the ce's that don't vote for a union will be left out,
Every ce will be invited into the union after it comes in. That is the law just as NCR can not prevent CEs from pursuing the union.

We are fighting for the company because we believe it is in NCRs best intersets to keep it's workforce standardized and happy.

Do not expect to get paid like NYC, that is much different situation. The expenses there are outragous compared to middle America. There can be changes but we must have some standard of pay for regoins though. City CEs should get more money than remote small town CEs. That is not true at this time.

Pensions are gone from most companies and healthcare is climbing everywhere, but we must ensure they keep the costs from us

If you are truely unhappy with NCR please feel free to leave. The ones that are serious about the union are because they still feel NCR can be a great company to work for again.

TO THE FOOL ABOVE FROM A SMALL CITY CE HEY YOU DAMNED IDIOT!!!!
IN SMALL TOWN USA IT COSTS MORE TO BUY GAS IT COSTS MORE TO BUY GROCERIES AND HOUSING COSTS MORE DUE TO ECONOMIES OF SCALE AND LACK OF COMPETITION SO WHATS THIS SHIT ABOUT SMALL TOWN PEOPLE SHOULD GET LESS. WHAT KIND OF IDIOT OR ASS OR YOU??

FROM A SMALL TOWNER IF THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT YOU CAN SHOVE THE UNION UP YOU ASS I'LL VOTE AGAINST IT.

IF YOU WANT FAIR AND EQUITABLE PAY FOR ALL CE'S REGARDLESS OF THEIR LOCATION THAT'S WHAT I WANT!!

Anonymous said...

We are the union and we will get whatever we want as long as we are willing to fight for it.
I want my money back and I want to be paid just like NYC and I'm ready to fight and sacrifice for it.
I'm not voting this union in so I can settle for shit. The company gives me plenty of that.

Anonymous said...

You two must be union busters, or extremly bad with your finances. If you can't make a living in a small town on $40,000 a year you are living well beyond your means. Look at the prices of houses and taxes unless 1,000,000 equals 250,000. I now realize you are thinking the next city to you is equivalent to NYC.
I didn't say a small towns ce should stay at this level (which is small), I said NYC costs more to live and they need to be paid more, for that matter most large California cities. Small town CEs should get more on call pay if they are the only ce, which should make up difference in salary.
I agree small town CEs should be paid more, but some small town ces work less than 30 in a week, to save the ncr ot.
And the ones who had their pay cut should get it back, that won't happen by ncr recreating CE3, but we can get the pay scale changed. We lost CE3 in 2003. No one wanted to fight for it then.

Anonymous said...

This is a real question.. I have heard that ce2 had to take a pay cut... How? The pay structure went up about 11.5% across the board. (again, I know most of us saw a 2%-5% raise and that is unfair when they increased it 12%). I was just curious on how CE2s took a pay cut if the most they could make was $45,800 last year. That doesn't make sense. Can any CE2 who this happened too explain?

Anonymous said...

The CE3's that were cut in 2003 deserved the cut, you weren't doing the highend work. The CE'3 that were cut this year were pulling the load for all of NCR, we were raped, and I will be leaving before the bridgepay ends, and I won't give 2 weeks notice!

Anonymous said...

ANOTHER FEW DUMB ASS REMARKS ABOVE I WAS AND AM A SMALL TOWN CE I WORK ON ALL OF THE HIGH END SHIT!!
FROM NETWORKING TO HIGH END PRINTERS SERVERS END TO END NCR OF
ALL THE UNMITIGATING GALL TO SAY ANYONE THAT WAS A LEVEL 3 DESERVED TO BE CUT!! YOU BIG CITY YOKELS MUST HAVE YOUR HEAD SO FAR UP YOUR ASS THAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE CHARMED LIFE THAT YOU HAVE HAD!!
ANY TECH THAT ONLY HAD TO WORK ONE PRODUCT LINE WAS A WHOLE LOT LESS OF AN ASSET TO THE COMPANY THAN US COUNTRY BOYS THAT HAD TO CARRY THE FULL PRODUCT LINE AND TAKE CARE OF ALL CLASSES OF EQUIPMENT
AS TO LIVING IN THE COUNTRY IF I GO TO YOUR CITY I CAN BUY EVERTHING CHEAPER FROM GASOLINE TO CLOTHES AND EVEN A NEW HOUSE DUE TO THE INCREASED LEVEL OF COMPETITION IN THE CITY
BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT PISSED OFF CE3 MUST BE A MANAGER IN DISGUISE
IT COSTS JUST AS MUCH OR MORE TO LIVE IN THE RURAL AREA AND WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT 30 HOURS THAT'S A JOKE!!
WE'RE ON CALL AT MINIMUM EVERY OTHER WEEK AND WORK AN AVERAGE OF 60-70 HOURS A WEEK
SO QUIT WHINING ABOUT YOUR PAY IN THE CITY EITHER SIGN YOUR DAMNED UNION CARD AND GET WITH THE PROGRAM AND UNDERSTAND THAT WE'RE ALL UNDERPAID AND STRUGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET OR CARRY YOUR WHINING ASS DOWN THE ROAD
THEIR IS NOT ONE SENIOR EMPLOYEE THAT WAS A LEVEL 3 THAT DESERVED TO GET THEIR PAY CUT WE'VE MISSED 20K A YEAR FROM OUR CHECKS NOW FOR 4 YEARS AND NOW WHEN YOUR PAY GOT CUT THE WORLD ENDED
CUT THE CRAP
EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK WHERE EVER YOU ARE LOCATED THE SAME JOB SHOULD BE COMPENSATED THE SAME

FROM GOT MY 25 YEAR FRISBEE THAT WENT TO THE DUMP AS THE TRASH IT TRULY WAS

GO UNION!!!

I moved from Ca. to a small town elsewhere in the us, because NCR offered me a job to live in the middle of no where. and I only work between 30-40 a week and on call 24-7. Saving NCR OT if someone has to come from 3 hours away 4 days a week which saved the ce's on average 25 hours of OT since I started 6 years ago. I have to go there every few weeks to help the city ce's and am asked (forced to spend the night) to take calls in am. My wife can't find a real job here so we are forced to make less than we did in ca. I now live on 1.5 acres in a 4 bedroom house instead of a two bedroom apartment. Gas is cheaper by 50 cents a gallon, and the only place to shop is this crappy ass walmart.. So excuse me for thinking it is cheaper to live in a small town than a city.
Since your attention span is so short you probably didn't get to the part where I think the pay is low.
High end stuff! You are smoking crack, adic, quantum, that glasshouse crap, and cisco routers in the capacity we work on them is a joke. Please don't tell me self check out register are high end tech. Again our pay is too low, but just because we "work" on high end crap doesn't mean we have free reigns to actually repair it without god's (or the customer)approval.
It sounds like I have been treated fairly for years, now I wonder if the union is actually good for me. I have never even met a manager other than phone interviews. I assumed Everyone was treated like me and the other CE's in my imediate area

Anonymous said...

"High end stuff! You are smoking crack, adic, quantum, that glasshouse crap, and cisco routers in the capacity we work on them is a joke."

All that is easy!! Even a CE2 can work on that! How about 7780's Itran's, and OCE pagestreams?

Union busters are posting in here trying get us to argue with each other.

In a union we get the same high pay no matter where we live. It's what we negotiate on our contract.

We can get our dignity back. Sign those cards and get them in now. CE's are valuable employees, NCR pretends we are disposable. You can make a difference. Believe it!! You are all in my prayers.

It is sad to see so many people getting sucked in by the unionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn who will promise you anything you want but get you nothing. What you have now and are bitching about is the best you'll ever have. If you read the Parade supplement to the Sunday paper you should realize you are now overpaid and that what you think is lousy treatment toward the service department is now standard across the industry. You who talk so big and loud about leaving need to get your walking shoes on (but, of course, you won't really be leaving because you're no good to any other company). You don't have any of the industry certifications required for hiring on somewhere else. Get used to it, you're stuck. and the only change you'll see is another deduction from your paycheck labeled union dues.
