If you read back through all these posts you'll realize they're all written by the same 4 or 5 people. You don't have a union movement going on here. You just have a few illiterate, vulgar, and simple minded people sounding off. You'll also notice that the number exclamations points attached to a post is directly proportional to the ignorance of the statement. Normally, the loudmouths are the ones you cannot find when it comes to actually doing the deed. Put some thought into it. Do you really want to follow someone who cannot convert a thought into a complete and comprehensible sentence?

I want to start out by saying I have not recieved any information even though I sent an email after the chat on the 14th. Who can help with this? I dont want our area to miss out on anything and I am quite certain every SLM tech in this area will vote yes.

I have a perspective from both ends. I worked at a company that was union and was held back because I didnt have as much seniority as a less qualified person. I said then that I would never join another union again. My wife was told that her 12 years as a school teacher was not worth more than a new teacher. So unions have not been friends to me or my family. And do you really honestly think that someone screwing speakers into a car are worth $30 an hour???

BUT on the other hand, I have been here at NCR about 2 years. I have seen the senior techs, well qualified and loyal, get screwed over and over. Ever since I began here, I have been on call every other week. Yes I was told I would be working some overtime, but this is ridiculous. I have absolutely no personal life, and when my wife says its too much that is bad. She seems to enjoy my misery, but even she is not happy.

So is the union the answer? I think so. It is the members that will let it get out of hand, so responsible members will have to police it.

One interesting thing I found out about the negative and anti-Union comments posted here is the time they were posted were in the regular working hours. It is the time the normal CE would not have for we were very busy!!!??? So, who is this guy??
Even we could not make "GOOD' English,so what?? would it change the fact we need Union??
You can disagree anything but please be honesty and point out what is the better solution for this paycut. Do not just say Union is bad. It made me wondering you are not a CE at all.

NCR needs more Virus / SPAM / Spyware protection than the CIA!

NCR hates that CEs can visit a site that is beyond their control. Where
even Management is welcome to participate. (and they are sometimes
more disgruntled than the CEs)
This is like the old “Coffee Break” where we all got together each day
to discuss Customer & Personal problems. Millions have been spent
by NCR on ways to Segregate the Workers (Divide & Conquer). GPS
tracking, RIM Monitoring, Control Tower Taping, Site Visits, MOT, and

NCR upper management is like all companies, an executives club who's members are only concerned with their own pocketbook. But as a wife of an NCR CE, I work at a facility that has the IBEW. I am not impressed with their leadership. You might want to look at another union.

Tell us about the problems you have with the IBEW? I'm for the UNION. What Union do you recommend? How is the contract of your work place? Are your Union Reps working with you? I was in a union where the reps sold out the workers. So we all have to be careful to elect people who can stand up to management, and work for are best interest, not their ego. We will be as strong as the people we elect. These position are very important.
Also I emailed Chance, 1 year ago, no reply. Try to get New York Union to contact us 5 months ago before pay cuts announced. Told we had to show support before they would help. At that point I don't think I could have got much support. But IBEW has stepped to plate with full support since we contacted them.
Thanks for the input.
Will keep are eyes open.

Guys, I know that this is your site and that I shouldn’t be posting here but I just can’t hold this in anymore. NCR hired me to be a Manager then they turned me into an SS Agent through “Fear and Intimidation” techniques that I could not even tell my Priest about at Confession.

I don’t want to be a part of this CE Genocide Policy. I am Truly Sorry.

It also lets everyone know how they really think and feel about the NCR CE's. But we already know we are the scum of this company by the way we are treated. To the un-educated person above....Is this how you really feel about people who are truly hurting in this country? Can it be true that people like you are still around dragging your knuckles on the ground? I thank god every day that I still have a job to go to, but if I contunie to just sit here and do nothing I will no longer have a job and be able to support my family. I have been with NCR for 30 + years and would like to retire some day. I have worked very hard these 30 years and have placed my family and friends on the back burner when it came to work. I am sure a lot of you have done the same. I wish this company to do well, but I also wish myself the same. Years back I considered NCR a " GREAT " company to work for. How can I say that now with everything they have done? I have seen alot of good people come and go...people who made the company strong. I felt like I had helped in that conquest, but today I am made to feel like I am a liar, cheater, and most of all a "Number". It saddens me to see what has happened to NCR, a once giant in the world. I use to say NCR was a leader and can now only say it is a follower. People are expressing there feeling here with all there exclamation points....they are hurting and if you cant see that then I feel sorry for you. I myself will vote for a union and encourage everyone I work with to do the same. I learned a very important lesson from my father when he was alive..He instiled in me to not quit when the going gets tough...but also not to let people walk all over you. I will take this to my grave and hope my kids will learn the same. Thanks Dad!!!!!

It is not surprising that if another viewpoint is posted here it is greeted with vulgarity. That would be the ignorance coming to the fore. I can certainly understand why you need a union to talk for you. If you met face to face with management you would set your cause back on its rear end. You few on this blog are going to find yourselves abandoned by those you hope to drag along with you. I suspect you were abandoned by the intelligent CEs a long while back. And, to answer your question, I am not, nor have I ever been, a manager.

Can you repair an Itran or OCE printer? How about rebuilding a Cisco router or replace the drives in a Quantam tape library. How many ATM's have you installed in one day? I think I detect an Aussie accent. Hey, aren't the CE's in Australia unionized? Why yes, I believe they are. They went on strike and got what they wanted. A 3% cost of living raise.
Does anyone around here know what a cost of living raise? I didn't think so.

I won't be crossing any picket lines. I retired from NCR after 40 years. I went through the "you bet your job" tests every Friday morning. That was when a Technical Services Representative (CE is an AT&T term and I always hated it)had to know how to troubleshoot and repair to the component on equipment like the 395, 400. We also repaired our circuit boards on later equipment. I did the iTran as well as the 7780, 7750, 775, and 450. I went to Chicago and learned all of the OCE printers. I repaired, maintained, and installed all of the ATMs beginning with the 1780. I doubt there is anything you've done that I haven't, including the self-checkouts. I never once said I was smarter than any of you. That was your assumption, although I tend to agree with you. Once again, let me say, if you're going to follow someone, choose wisely.

I would appreciat any suggestion that matters to you and me. Anything happens to us now does not affect you any BIT since you've already retired. 1% or 30% of pay cut has no difference to you AT ALL. We need a constructive suggestion not" this is no good, that is no good, nothing is good."
You would have a nice pension for the rest of your life. You are lucky because you retired before NCR turn bad. Do you know We lost the pension???? now our pay is reducing.

Well I guess I’ll be number six. I’m hoping my comments will not be perceived as vulgar, illiterate or simpleminded (yeah no space). I’ve been with NCR back when there was a culture within the company. You were hired based on your skills, then given the opportunity to grow both mentally and financially within the organization. Those were great times. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. NCR has adopted the new US Corporate mindset that enables major financial rewards to a very small percentile of the organization. This is not just an NCR problem. It’s a problem reverberating throughout the US and mind you not going away anytime soon. Having said that, I am also a member of the UNION. Reading the comments posted (I truly believe it’s more than 4 or 5 people) it is imperative that you vote UNION. I cannot imagine what they would have me doing and at what pay were it not for our Union’s contract. Even then, we are still forced to perform unethical practices to achieve benchmark numbers, which, for the most part we have no control over. I believe that a man or woman should be paid their fair market value. And I believe every NCR CE deserves respect from corporate. Vote UNION!

It sounds to me like the people who are so anti-union are either managers, or CE's who receive extra privilages for sucking up to management. One thing you can believe, ALL of the upper management people are working WITH contracts. They have contracts to keep NCR from doing to them what they are doing to us. Our only hope is to vote union so we may all have contracts too. Between the Union movement, the age discrimination lawsuits, and a few other intms, NCR may eventually see that we mean business. Remember, the more of this mistreatment you put up with, the more of it you're going to get. If you have not heard from a local IBEW rep yet, make the call youself, they are in the phonebook. MAKE THE CALL. They wont know you are interested until YOU let them know. VOTE UNION, or learn to love being screwed over constantly

Hello all, There has been a Class Action Lawsuit filed against NCR for missed wages and so forth dealing with lunches, admin time and so on. The lawsuit has started in California. I have a copy of it and sent it to Steve Smith to maybe post it on the blog for all to review. It's to large too paste in the blog.
