To answer Louisiana and South Cal. There are more CE's in California that has contacted the union for the cards, you are not alone. As for Louisiana, you are not alone. Call Steve Smith or if you are having getting Steve because of the many CE's calling try Jerry. Jerry's number is posted a few comments above in blue text.

We need the cards so the IBEW can contact Washington and prove that there is a strong desire and need for a union at NCR. At this time they will contact NLRB and things start happening. Hope this helps...

Hey did you guys see Bill Nutti's response to the fake e-mail? Bill said we can always talk to him about problems. He said he talked to a bunch of Ce’s in a training class back in January. They talked about their concerns over parts.
Tell me something. How many of you Ce’s gave a shit about parts after getting your pay cut to shit?
I guess all that money makes him blind to our real problems.

I feel sorry for the ones who have a family to supoort on our pay,work the hours we do. I'm just sick and tired of not having any free time to do the thing I nwant to do because I'm on call, oh sorrry can you cover while another guy goes back to his area. I think what Chris did was stupid in the first place. He never thought of the negative side to this. I think we have paid about 5 million in fines alone due to man power issues. WE are not robots that can work all day/night without rest or time off.
Three things companies should never mess with are pay, vacation,benefits. Like today one call after another, and I'm trying to get the calls closed as fast as i can but it is never good enough for the "team". I wonder what "team" means to the company, oh yeah as long as we make our metrics for the month and year everything is fine but once thing start to slump, shit breaks loose at management level and goes up.
Actual the company should be sorry for doing this because some of us young guy/gals will not have a future with this company unless they suck it up and drive on like a solider.

This is for all the ce's in Southern CA, Get the word out about this web site. I have spoke to everyone in my group and all are for the union save for a couple of company ass kissers. I've tried to send a text message from the web to the company cell phones but ncr has it locked down so you cant do it anymore. make those phone calls, whatcha got to lose? And F.I.S.T name calling isnt going to get you anything. We all know what kind of person Cheadle is. When we go UNION the NCR board of directors will fire his ass real quick. Hey, Washington State, hope you guys get on board.

Very interesting reading. I was very fortunate to leave and find a much better job after nearly a quarter of a century and before I was tiered down. I keep up with NCR as my retirement will hopefully be there someday and feel bad that the few of my former co-workers that are left have gone thru such hard and frustrating times. If I were still with the company, even with the political agenda's Unions give your support to regardless if you do not support these stands, I would jump on the bandwagon. From what I see from those left, what do you have to lose?

Sounds like youre in a good sprits. Question..Did you leave for more money or was the writing on the wall? I am presently part of a collective bargaining unit in NY/NJ and We have not suffered like the majority.

We have all heard the slogan United we Stand, but lets not forget Divided we will Fall.

If I was a company plant I would do exactly what Rot and another is doing. I would make inflamatory statements that would cause discourse among the CE ranks. (In other words pit CEs against CEs) By doing this it will derail us from our common goal. People like ROT are called trolls in the computer forum world. They put out statements like this just to start what is called a flame war. If he is as good as he states I would think that he would want to be justly compensated for his knowledge and skill sets.
I have been to Dayton for schooling many times over the years and I can tell you, It did not matter what race, color,creed or location you were from they were all a great bunch of guys I was proud to call my friends. We should just ignore these types of people (trolls) by not responding to their posts. We all need to get together as one unified body of fellow employees and complete the task at hand. Remember we all need each other to get this Union off of the ground.

You have to log off of the NCR network to get here. I tryed calling Steve but got an answering machine. I dont want to jeperdise my jop that supports my family but if I can help grow the numbers I will. If we can get enough of us to unite we have a chance right? Ive heard of the glory days at NCR, infact I was wearing the shirts th gave us and was stoped by two older families who were retired and had the pntion and still attender the conventions, they loved the old NCR. well maybe we can breing back the Old NCR and give ourselvs and each other a futur.atleast some security.

To "South Carolina" above: age discrimination is a good point. Let me (us) know how you make out with that. Maybe we should file a class action suit. Mention that to your lawyers. I was wearing the new shirts they gave us. I met a a couple man /wife who both retired from NCR. The had the pension, paid medical until 64 and had some glory day at NCR.The still attend the conventions and were amazed at what I had to say in regards to paycuts and rebanding ECT.

You know I have heard alot of good things about NCR but to have a salary cap on us ,, IE in my area 21.50 after 30 years no raises for the last 5 years , well that leaves me as a yonger CE wondering when I get that age do I want to wait 30 years to realize I deserve better?

Could a union address issues like this?

I would like to see change! I would also like to see more positive info on what and how this all works. Plants or not I think we should be adults and rise above the petty crap (name calling etc...) We are supposed to be an educated/skilled work force deserving of higher pay and better benefits lets all act in that manner and unite for a common goal....(better NCR/better life for all of us!)

Retired in the northeast :years ago I didn’t believe in the union but if I had to do it over I would go union. Having a crummy manager for many years named Harold made a believer out of me. Also NCR used the AT&T takeover and spin off to screw us out of the health-care promised to us if we stayed with NCR and retired from NCR.they also screwed us out of doubletime on Sundays and screwed us out of much overtime . go union

I retired in 2005 and have never looked back. I had 43 years with The Cash. I loved my job, went through a number of union votes, was a manager 3 times(wouldn't spout the company line) but they kept coming back to me when the s__t hit the fan. Guys it has been a tough road to hoe in the last 10 years. Do what you think is best. BUT remember that unions are a business too, they pay their people based on how many members they can get, not on how lucrative the contract is for their people. They are also in it for a profit. To my knowledge there are no unions registered as a non profit organization. MAKE DAMN sure you know what you are getting yourselves into. Best of luck no matter which way you vote, but make sure you DO vote.

All,
This email is the address the recent error for the overtime calculation for the Pay Period Ending 2/10/08 for approximately 420 CE3's demoted on 2/1/08. This issue has been escalated to Payroll and we are fully engaged with the Payroll team regarding this error.

The resolution to this error will be a pay adjustment for any demoted CE3's who worked overtime between 1/28 - 1/31. This adjustment will be on the employee's next paycheck. The pay adjustment will be the difference between the old rate and new rate.

Please communicate this error and resolution to your recent demoted CE3's who worked overtime for this period.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Chris Wallace just made over 250K the other day. She was able to buy the stock at $9.54 or so and sell it the same day at $21.43 or so. (Give or take a little) It was about 25,500 shares of stock. We got our 15% taken away and lowered to 5%.
We have a vice president that reports to a vice president that reports to another vice president.
The sales went up and the profit went down. When there is almost 5 billion in sales there should be more profit than 162 million. I do not think by cutting the wage of 500 hundred CE is going to save the company from itself. If you add the money saved it comes to about 5 million a year. I will speak about this all I want because I am sure I own more of this company than many of the managers.
I am from the old AT&T, and CWA, I was also an organizer on the first vote we had. It is a voice and the Union has to spend all it brings in on operations. They are not allowed by law to make a profit, and as one has said already if the Union does not work we can vote them out. That is what I call a voice. Can we vote Nuti out: Can we vote to reverse the pay cut? We know the answers to those questions already.
A numbers driven company, if we were not profitable employee's we would not be working. As for me I did not get cut very much pay but at the same time I never told them to pay what they were paying me. They were paying me that because my manager felt I was worth that and that was inline with other companies.

This is the same for all of us not just for me.

To "South Carolina": I like your idea about age discrimination. Let us know how you make out. If your in touch with a lawyer, can this be a class action suit, nation wide? Something to think about. Most ce3 and ce4's have got to be close to 50 is not over that. Wouldn't it be nice to slam them with a union AND a lawsuit. Please keep us informed.

ALSO: "ROT" has got to be a manager plant whose sole purpose is to cause disruption on this site. No ce with as many years as he claimes he has can be that stupid to believe in what he is saying. We have a purpose. A mission to organize. To explain to those sitting on the fence why we so strongly feel the way we do, and for those who believe, to unite and move forward with our miission. Let us not waste time and energy on "rot". Silence is the best treatment for someone like him (or her). This site is free and open to all, but we don't have to listen to "rot". Arguing and name calling will lower the rest of us to his level which is what management would like to see.
Time to move forward as professionals. GO UNION!

AT&T did not aquire NCR to get rid of it's Union, it aquired NCR because it had failed repeatedly at the computer business and thought the best way to succeed would be to buy a company that was successful in that field. Unfortunately, we Field Engineers were not smart enough to immediately contact CWA and sign up. We believed all that Company feel-good crap about how the company would "grandfather" us in terms of our retirement benefits, health care, etc. We were paid comporably to others in our field and we didn't foresee that NCR would consider us "keyboard changers" instead of the professionals that we are. I hold us (F.E.'s) partialy responsible for allowing the Company to look upon us as less than professional, we allowed them to hire sub-standard workers to do our job. It is time we put our foot down and demand the respect we deserve! We are highly trained professionals that do a job not anybody can do! We troubleshoot and repair complex systems! We are not "keyboard changers"! Tolt and their like hire low-level techs, NCR has the BEST TECHS ON THE PLANET!!! WE ARE WORTH MORE!

It was a question...one of the results of at@t buying ncr was that union workers were laid off..If union was voted in..and I'm hopeful it will..what would prevent ncr from buying a competitive company with non union employees...

Listen Up everybody. NCR sells hardware and support. They need CEs to service that stuff. What do they plan to gain if the sell off WCS to get rid of the union. Customers by the NCR Brand because of the support system that NCR provides. If they get rid of the CEs, no will by the product! Ergo no bonus for the Big Shots.

Management’s attitude about all this is, if we can find something better then this, we should take it. They don’t care; we are just so much cannon fodder to them. They want to cut our pay and keep doing the same job for them that we have always done. If they want to give me 30% less pay then I will give them 30% less of what I have been doing for them. 30% longer travel times. 30% longer to repair that ATM. 30% more parts flown in. 30% more parts to fix that sorter. 30% less of what I was once getting paid to do. I know bus drivers that now make a lot more than we do know.

They don’t realize how important we are to this company. All we ever hear about is sales this and sales that. If NCR had a shitty service organization that couldn’t fix anything, was never there on time and treated the customers like we get treated, how much do they think their all important sales dept. could sale. Hell, if it wasn’t for us grunts there wouldn’t be a NCR. If management was smart they would give us all a raise and throw us a big party in Hawaii. But then we aren’t the sales dept, are we.

This company is built on the reputation of their strong service department. Our service has always been one of the biggest selling points for the sales department. But yet we are the most unappreciated organizations in this company. we are continualy asked to do things smarter faster and cheaper. Then when we meet those goals they ask us to do it again but now they want us to do it for less money. We are becoming nothing more than cannon fodder for this company. They forget the years that WCS was the only part of this company that was making money and this is how they treat us.

Just another thought, be sure you have an exit strategy from the union you select. I'm not sure IBEW is the best for NCR, but not sure who might be better. I base my concern on what happened to the telephone workers in the late 70's and early 80's. Before NCR I worked for Illinois Bell and kept a lot of contacts there for many years. They were sold down the river by the IBEW people in power at the time. Maybe those bad cats are gone, but maybe not. As I said above make you have an exit strategy and know how to use it. Again best of luck no matter which way the vote goes.

I hope to be able to do that but time is running out and I can't support my family on the current pay structure. You stated unions are a business and in there to make money. They STILL get a pension.

2 Consecutive days off per week.

10% availability pay increase over non-union (last 3 years) $17.00 / $40.00

111 CE’s grandfathered from” Rebanding” (lowering title and wages)

154 members grandfathered from shift premium reductions

Freeze Vehicle Plan preference and weekly premium ($59.00 for 3 years)

What will NCR take next? Our 5th week of vacation? Maybe 2? Increase our medical while dropping coverage of benefits again? Force us for 1 hour of travel in each direction every day on our time? It will NEVER end as long as we have no voice.

Look at your local news paper when salaries are published. Who’s at the top? Rank and file police, UNION, firefighters, UNION, teachers, UNION. Who’s jobs are secure? Utilities – telephone, gas, electric, UNION. Ask a teacher, policeman, or a firefighter what kind of pension they’re retiring with? 60% – 70% - 80% ???

We may be in a different industry, but our needs are the same. We are talented and needed individuals who deserve decent wages and benefits for our talents and years of experience and dedication. We need to take back the pride we once had in ourselves and our company that we used to have. But we first need to be treated fairly. WE NEED A VOICE !!! WE NEED A UNION to be strong in numbers. The very small cost of union dues would be paid back tenfold in time.



Why didn’t management take a pay cut?

How about the CEO and his stock options?

THE COMPANY IS MAKING MONEY !!!

A few years ago when the pay cuts first hit,

NCR management said it was a ONE TIME deal. NEVER AGAIN.

If NCR thinks that a union can do nothing for us, then why are they so afraid of letting us have one?

Unions do not run the company. They simply help us make sure that we are treated fairly.

That we have some quality of life. That we have a say in how we are treated instead of just bending over all the time and saying OUCH!

Now is the time. It may be the ONLY shot we have. NOW OR NEVER.

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOOSE ?

If you really think that NCR has taken all that there is to take, think again.

There are many plans being put into place to make this happen. Very large steps are being taken by the union in preperation. As to what you can expect from NCR when we start the process in Washington to unionize is threats, promises and union's are bad lectures. LIES!

I see a lot of comments about this "Rot" person being an "Asshole".........I assure you, he is NOT. He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. I have over 40 years with NCR, and in that time I have seen more assholes than a Proctologist. If he is NOT a Company Plant, then he is a person who actually believes it is not only OK but righteous to accept the type of treatment being heaped on the non-union CE's. I can only surmise the following: He has no spouse, kids, or "significant other" to which he has to explain "honey, they cut my pay again". He most likely lives with his parents. He is most likely a virgin. As far as being a great technician - I'll bet he couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel. I'll bet his Little League uniform still fits. Notice how I haven't used any really vile words here? That's because people like ROT deserve pity....and remember- Nobody is completely useless....they can always serve as a Bad Example. Take Heart...you are right to fight for dignified employment.....

I never was good at math. the NY/NJ guys in the union pay 1.5% for dues. in return they saved themselvs from 25% - 30% pay cuts. sounds like GOOD MATH to me. am I wrong????

In Canada, the techs (ones that are left) haven't had a raise in 9 years...... nine (9) years. The FLM techs got minor raises (1.5 to 2%) SLM techs got nothing!!!!, nothing for NINE YEARS!!!!! We need a union. BC is the only union province in Alberta. They got raises as per their agreement, every other province in Canada, SLM techs got NO RAISES OR INCREASES IN PAY FOR NINE (9) YEARS!!! CANADA VOTE UNION!!

the supposed union guy from N.Y. complaining about us waiting is trying to hard. Sounds like a management plant to me. First the only thing we are waiting for is for everyone to get informed and just as importantly we have spoken several times with our fellow CE's who are members of the Teamsters and they have offered any and all the suppport that they are able to give.
