How do you commute when there is no central office to compute your commute time to & from?? And they schedule a 10 hour upgrade on an ATM in the middle of a parking lot, you are there with machine in pieces and you are supposed to leave and go to lunch? How is that gonna work? It used to be give and take, you gave some, they gave some, now its all take from and never any give back. The managers are all over you to get more work done, but, in the rare occasion that there is a slow day, they complain about low productivity. I bet they never go do personal business when they are supposed to be working, yea right.. But not the slaves in the field, no way..The management of this place has been selling the field a bill of goods for a LONG time, they keep saying things are going to get better, just hang in there, how many times has everyone heard that?? Then they go buy another company, or a new plane for the CEO, and to pay for that? You got it, no raises, no training, no 401K match, frozen pensions, rebanding, higher contributions to your health care and other "benefits". But let a few people say union, and the purse strings are cut, they send in union busters to spare no expense to make sure they don't have to deal with another union, because they may have to start answering to someone outside of the "good old boy" system they have now. Not to mention that they are replaceing RIMs and cell phones again, why?? Where does all that money come from? In the meantime, no overtime to be worked even though the customers are entitled to service, they can wait because the overtime budget is shot. All I know, is when the economy recovers, there will be people exiting this rat trap company faster than they can hire replacements, and when that happens even the bottom feeders at wal-mart will have to go to another vendor for service and they will have to pay a fair price to someone else. Remember the other companies have already seen what walmart has done to NCR,and they won't be as willing to give them the keys to the cash box, and make the contract so one-sided. So, thanks to michelle, we got one settlement for the behavior, but it's still going on and no one will stand up to sue them again, they will just leave.

I just found this in NCR's latest SEC fillings.
In August 2009, a federal court in Ohio granted motions for summary judgment against NCR in two companion class actions brought on behalf of certain unionized retirees, who claimed that the Company’s 2003 decision to terminate certain benefits payable on death violated collective bargaining agreements and other rights. The Company has appealed the decision to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. If affirmed on appeal, the decision will require the Company to restore the death benefit, at an approximate cost of $6 million, which NCR recognized as other expense during the third quarter of 2009.

behind and they get on you for not getting the work done. And threaten you with being written up or fired.
They schedule you to do all day upgrades to ATMs in a parking lot and theres no allowance to leave and go to lunch, so you miss lunch regularly. This job used to
have a lot of give and take, now its all give and nothing in
return. If there is a slow day, they get on you for not being productive enough.
They schedule shifts that work people some real weird times, and the times change in the same week.
No overtime is allowed at times, even if the customer has 24/7 service,that puts you farther
behind and then they have the nerve to gripe about SLAs and LOCA.
This management team has been selling a bill of goods to everyone for a long time and we keep wanting to believe, but they always come back with more words and no action. the only thing they
follow up on is cutting pay, benefits, 401k, training, etc.. Then at PA time, its the same old story, we didn't make enough to give raises again. But, we can get new RIMS and cell phones every 6 monthes and buy another company
and a new jet for Nuti to fly around, but nothing to help you live a better life. Thats because they don't want you to have a better life, they want to continue to contribute to the bad economy by making you barely get by and have nothing left. Someday the economy will recover and the people are going to leave this place in droves and I can't wait til it happens.
With all the money they pay out in judgements, you would think they would get smart and do the right thing like they say they want us to. Quit paying the lawyers and start paying the workers.

So far as I know, there has been no discussion this year since they don't give PAs until the middle of Feb. But, if they follow the pattern of the recent past, there will be some excuse. The poster above sounds like a Nuti rep. Trying to make the company sound like they are doing good by its people. It doesn't matter what the numbers really are, they always have the pension deficit that THEY created to fall on to make no pay outs possible.

Then I ended up losing my job because I sent some Emails out impersonating Upper Management, (after having a few beers), trying to get your attention and to hopefully vote yes. I started in October, 1980. It was a good company to work for until AT&T bought it. Then things began going downhill. Once we took over servicing Walmart they began dragging us down to their level. And since Nuti the crook took over it avalanched. Glad I'm gone, Carl.

Its good to see that some people find good jobs and get away from ncr, but, after 29 years, and all the companies wanting certifications that ncr doesn't give us, its hard to find a new job. We all know that an A+ and msce, etc. don't really tell what a person can do, but, all the companies seem to want them, and ncr is smart enough not to train people and give industry recognized certifications to its people, and they keep you so busy with different work shifts and availability, that going to get education off the clock is close to impossible. Not to mention that 5 weeks vacation is a well earned repreve from this place and I don't plan to work long enough to ever build that up at another job. It would be hard to go back to 2 weeks a year. I'm glad to get a 5% raise instead of another excuse and 0%, even though I agree that more should be done after getting cut by 15% a couple of years ago. But the big city guys spoke with the no vote for a union, so the rest of the country either has to live with it or find somewhere else to work.The unions won't have anything to do with this place again. The people I worked with were amazing and I still consider them friends. The compensation was on the high end of the scale when compared to similar positions at other companies. Great vacation and benefits package. Decent facitlity.
Cons
Senior Management does a poor job relaying important information regarding important decisions. This causes employees to distrust them. Middle managers are hit or miss. Some managers are located in Europe which causes a lack of supervision which leads to bad habits.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more transparent and invest in your competetive advantage, your employees. Employees are often skeptical of your leadership ability due to lack of transparency.
